DmC to be adult rating?

From my own knowledge, the Punk movement is more visible in the UK. I don't know how anyone else would argue against that, though.
Another argument for that DmC punk inspiration comes from UK is that there are many countries.
If Ninja theory went for a look for Dante that was international cool - then did they do research in all the countries?

America, Netherlands, Spain, Norway, Denmark, France etc

It's a big area to cover. And Punk movement started in 1970s. Surely youths must have some other form of thing that they find cool now.

And Angel again my brother spoke with british friends on Skype or Teamspeak. And believe me i heard slang and swear words alot.
I got annoyed at my brother too - not because he was trying to have a british accent - but because he kept saying british like swear words lol.
haha! I think it's kind of a younger-kid thing in many places (UK and elswhere) to swear as much as possible until you grow up a bit and realise it's nowhere near as cool as you thought it was at the age of about 11... Also, British swear words sound really odd in any other accent, I think.

Not saying cursing is a british thing. But asking if it's common to use curse words among youths in UK, and how would Ninja theory know if it's common in other countries? One can also ask - is it common to hear a punk curse?

There is over 15 countries with youths that's probably gonna buy DmC.

For me if Ninja Theory consider DmC Dante as young and rebellious, then they are trying to appeal to a younger audience.

Personally in my opinion, if you want to truly appreciate adult things, you need to uphold some maturity. A big question is, do youths of today hold that much maturity? And if not, why is this game trying to appeal to an audience like these youths, when it has a mature rating? Is adult content suppose to be immature, but cool at the same time?

I suppose based on the very small amount of youth I have come across in my lifetime (comparatively speaking), it is pretty common to hear a number of them swearing. So in that regard,I can see where you are coming from. Maybe it is more of an assumption based on how youth are percieved in the UK that they would behave more or less the same way in other countries?

Dunno about punks - never met one.

Could you explain this post more - i understand it to a degree but not clearly.

Ninja Theory created DmC with their alternate take on DMC Dante. Their DmC Dante was designed to be more punkish. He was designed to be more rebellious. And he is apparently a teenager, I believe.

I feel that designing him this way, they are trying to appeal to a young audience. Youths of today from what I've seen do try and swear a lot and appear rebellious. But the content in the game is deemed by the censorships as too mature. If age ratings on things did not mean a certain amount of maturity was required, this game would not be classed as 'mature'. Youths I would say act punkish and immature in their own ways, so the feel of this character and game would probably appeal to them. But why would they design something to attract the attention of a younger audience, if the game's rating was mature? It seems that perhaps adult rated content is suppose to be deemed as immature and cool to a particular degree.

For instance, in movies nowadays, they are adding more graphical and obscene content in films but the censorship is lowering. Even 15 rated films could be classed as 18 rated, and 12 rated films classed as 15 rated. Adult content in things is growing rapidly. Whether it's sex or violence, it's spreading within the media to the point that it's almost uncommon to see any film nowadays that does not have that sort of content in it. Whether it is full on or just merely referenced.

DmC is a mature rated game, aimed at a more immature audience. Does not make sense to myself.

I see. Well it would be very weird to class DmC as M game only to make the game look cool. As in youths being a rebel and buying the game despite they aren't 18.

I still don't see why this is an issue. Every DMC game ever has been rated M and this has never popped up before. Is it because you guys thing that NT might add things that would really push that M rating?

ok despite the M rating on the new devil may cry ,lets be honest has ESRB ever stopped anyone from getting anything with their ratings , Heck i got Halo: combat evolved (around the time halo 3 was popular)
when i was 9 or 10 years old and i got l4d2 when i was 10 years old :p

it's not ESRB that I'm bothered about, It's the BBFC.
ESRB rated Bayonetta as an 18
BBFC (UK) rated it as a 15.... That's a heck of a difference.
Shops in the UK are alot more strict when it comes to selling games over the counter.

I just don't see the DMC needs to become a smut-fest.

I'm not worried about it becoming a smut-fest as much as I'm worried it'll become a huge pop culture refrence. None of NT's titles have been perticularly raunchy, why should this one be.

Whoa whoa whoa! Wait! I just log on and see all of this British-stereotyping stuff  With your guys's logic, Deus Ex appeals to Canadians and Final Fantasy must only appeal to the Japanese. Just because Ninja Theory's British, it doesn't mean they have to appeal to the British because "Oh, we're Brits and since we're Brits we have to get the Brits to love us!" Come on guys!
And what is 'international cool'??? Since when did any game studio have to look up what's cool in every region in the world????
Yes, I'm mad.

But what's cool is what they are updating Dante or DmC with.

They update it with what THEY think is cool. That's not necessarily what EVERYONE thinks is cool.
Apparently, Ninja Theory thinks British punk is cool, and yes, it can obviously be because they are British themselves, but that doesn't mean they make the game JUST to fit what British youngsters want.

Everything isn't that black and white.

Ok, Ninja theory is updating DMC and Dante with what they think is cool. Forget british youths or other youths - Ninja theory is gonna be buying the game themself.
