DmC to be adult rating?

Ok, Ninja theory is updating DMC and Dante with what they think is cool. Forget british youths or other youths - Ninja theory is gonna be buying the game themself.

Well, I am as well.
And I doubt they will need to buy their own game. They probably get free copies for the whole team.

So Ninja theory is making a game where they add stuff into the game that's cool TO THEM.
That's fail path right there.

And i know your gonna buy it. A brain damaged person could figure that out if you want to know how easily it is to figure you out.

Don't you think Hideki Kamiya made Dante in the way HE thought was cool back when DMC1 was in production?
I don't wanna talk about Hideki for obvious reasons.

But here is what Tameem said:
1:48 "The goal is to redefine what made DMC cool".

What made DMC cool - not what Ninja theory thinks is cool.

Whoa, it's free to debate and speculate these things. Just because CoolDemon thinks this game is trying to appeal more towards British people, does not matter. We're allowed out own opinion. People need to stop getting so snotty about things. I think CoolDemon has brough up some good points here. I don't completely agree that the game is just trying to appeal mainly to British people, but it definitely does have aspects to it that you could say are classed as 'UK' cool.

Whether we can argue that what is cool in my country is cool elsewhere, that is the point I think CoolDemon is trying to get at.

DmC is a game that WANTS to appeals to many countries because it's bought by fans all over the world. 5M sales in one country? So i am very sure they want the game to appeal to the whole world, but let's be realistic - if they haven't done extensive research about things that is cool nowdays in many countries - then they will fail.

I think they are basing "cool" on UK, because again researching over 10 countries youths for "Cool" is alot of work.
Another point - what's cool here isn't cool there.

Well yeah, I'm pretty sure there aim is to appeal to a wide audience. If I was to design something that I thought would be cool, I'm sure my own country would hold a lot of influence on my design. But we also have to take into consideration that whether Ninja Theory is a UK based game company, Capcom is a much larger and international company. And Capcom are helping out with this game, so they could of researched into many other countries also. From what I know about DmC, and from what I've seen, I do think it is cool. And I do see where the points I made earlier that could be classed as 'UK' cool come into effect. But then, as I said, I'm quite sure they didn't just do their research on this country alone.

I doubt they have done much research. I also don't think Tameem knows much about what he's talking about when he talks about DMC. When he talks it's like i am listening to Sarah Palin. :p

You don't want to talk about Hideki, because you know that I have a point.
But it's alright if you don't want to admit that. We can't have you losing your "cool" again, can we?

Now, moving on.

But here is what Tameem said:
1:48 "The goal is to redefine what made DMC cool".

What made DMC cool - not what Ninja theory thinks is cool.

He says they want to redefine what made DMC cool.
Try look up the word "redefine".

No wait, let me do it for you.

redefine [ˌriːdɪˈfaɪn]
vb (tr)
to define (something) again or differently

See, what it means is that Ninja Theory have taken what made DMC cool and redefined it, as in, changed it to what is cool today. Obviously, it is THEIR definiton of what is cool today, because they can't speak for everyone. They have probably looked through some pop-culture analysis and found out what the majority thinks is cool, then used the things they agree with and implemented it into Dante's new looks.
And voila, DmC Dante is born.

So, apparently, punk'ish looks, short black hair, smoking, all that stuff... That's apparently what is cool today, and NT agrees with that. But then came all the butthurt, all the raging fans, throwing crap at them for changing their oh so precious Dante, so they made a few small changes after that, yet kept the core design. And by core design I do NOT mean DMC Dante, but the core design of the new Dante they made.
Instead of bending to the will of the raging fans, they stuck to their own ideals. I kinda admire that, really. They didn't puss out and changed his hair to long and white, or changed the coat to be right red. Instead they made Dante's new DT become a hint back to the original design. If it was planned from the start or if they decided to do so AFTER all the raging fans made their voices heard, we don't know. You don't know, I don't know, no one knows but Capcom and NT. But either way, that's what they did.
The only problem left is that there are still butthurt fans out there who keep on raging, but NT has learned to ignore them and instead listens to the constructive criticism and uses whatever they think works for their new design.

ALL THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MAIN TOPIC THOUGH!
So I apologize for getting off-topic. I meant no disrespect to the OP or the topic of this thread. I just felt like something needed to be explained.

Now, for the M-rating.
Why do you guys think the other DMC games were rated mature, and why should it be any different with DmC? I think it makes sense to make this M-rated as well, especially if it has the same elements as in the past games. I don't think it's just because they say f*ck and such, and if it is, then does it really need an M-rating?
Denmark is a rather free country. Teens here curse from a young age, and all in all, it's just words. We know there's no harm in saying stuff like that, but we still teach our kids that those words have a bad meaning to them and shouldn't be abused. However, we generally accept those words, because we know that "Oh dillydally darnit" won't cut it when you're upset.

Dante is fighting demons, killing otherworldly creatures, shedding their unnatural blood and guts all over the place with his sword and guns... So a curse word here and there shouldn't be so shocking to people. That's just focusing on the wrong things here. It fits with the overall theme of the game, and it IS rated Mature, so if anyone is surprised to hear a f*ck or a sh*t now and then, then that is their problem, not the game's or the developer's problems.

As for sexual themes... open your eyes and recognize the world we live in. Sex isn't a taboo anymore, we're no longer in the 40's. Sex is a natural thing and denying that is just pure ignorancy. And sex has been a part of the gaming world for a very long time now. God of War just took it a step further and actually had sex be part of the gameplay, Dante's Inferno had succubi run around with a freaking tentacle sprouting from between their legs, Mortal Kombat has their babes' clothes torn during the fight, showing some underboob here and then... Because it fits with the theme!

We have yet to see if there is any sexual content in DmC as of yet, but looking back at the original series, with babes like Trish and Lady around, showing alot of cleavage, and even having a boss demon as Nevan who is practically naked, not to mention Bael's and Dagon's Rusalka anglers who are almost raping Dante and Nero as they confront them... It's not really all that new to Devil May Cry.

I agree that the excessive use of sex in games is unnecessary, unless the game is about sex of course, however, for a game like Devil May Cry, it shouldn't be in the main focus of the game. And it hasn't been so far. Not in the original series, and not in the footage we've seen of DmC. So I really don't think there's anything to worry about on that point.

I think I covered all there is to cover about the main topic here... Did I miss out on something?

Do you seriously expect me to read all that? Hell no.

You should, he makes some pretty good points.

But, I forget what the original point of this thread is about. Are we debating whether the game being M Rated is a good or bad thing?

Nah, don't bother. He hates me, so there's no way he will admit that I could be right about anything.

Oh, and the main topic is just what people think about DmC being M-rated.
That's about it.

And you are better than me because you don't hate me right? First thing you post when me, Angel and others discuss M rating is "Why are you making it a issue if it's M rating".

You said that because anything negative about DmC you reply to and must fight against.

And when i ignore your posts you say "So you ignore people posts but you expect them to read yours?"
I ignored your posts - not anyone else.
And up until now i liked discussing with Lord and others until you came into here and basically ruined the mood.

When someone with good reputation in contrast to me has a different opinon than you , you reply back "That's ok^^".

I find you phony. And when you made that huge post i couldn't bother with it. Because i honestly don't wanna waste my time reading big posts from you.

Make it short then ill read.

And you don't fight everything positive said about DmC? Riiiiight.
I don't want to turn this thread into another battlefield of our endless feud, so I'm just gonna stop right here.

I didn't think you could hate anybody over the Internet. Who is to say that in real life you two would not be friends? Anyway, I don't think it's too much to ask someone to read something, even if they don't like the person that posted it. There's such a thing as maturity. I believe that's what we're also discussing about this game.

For me, I couldn't care about it being M Rated.

You don't want it to be another battlefield ? Your really pathetic. Then why do you come in here with such intent thatyou have?

Why can't you discuss like everyone else does with me?
You have a problem - it's that simple.

And if you think i am a DmC hater think again. You ignore things when it suites you. You should have realize that i am no DmC hater by now.

Okay people, enough. CoolDemon, you're a nice guy. You can talk with me and Angel about these things. But when it comes to Asmodaius, you need to ignore him.

And Asmodaius, the same for you towards CoolDemon. For the sake of another thread being closed due to your endless war with each other, please put your differences aside.

If a member of Staff was posting here right now, they would URGE you to use the brand new Ignore Function implented here because of people fighting like this. Discuss issues inb Conversations, it's more mature and decent if you do so.

Anyway, please end this now. I can only see you both getting into trouble, and I like you both. So I don't want to see that happen.
