DmC to be adult rating?

There are a number of reasons why we have a filter. If someone lacks the ability to make a post without typing an a swear word every five seconds then there is something severely wrong with that person. We tend not to encourage that sort of behaviour here. Contextual discussion concerning a game is another matter and I'm very surprised anyone is even trying to make an issue out if it. It's one thing to discuss what someone says in a trailer and quite another to go effing and blinding all over the place because you lack personal restraint.
If you don't like it, no one is stopping you from leaving. But do us all a favour and stop whining about it.

Carry on.

im guessing some promiscuous attire for some female like in dmc4(gloria, glowy antenna hoes), although why, when dino is suppossedly really young and younger than dante has been in any of the other dmc's

dmc series never really say "f#ck" (exclude mangas and graphic novels)
but apparently ninja theory incorporated into DmC.
to be honest its a turnoff....because it sounds like really desperate to please (some) fans who are actually looking foward to this.

Yeah true. I heard once F-bomb when I played DMC 4 as Nero without music, and that thing appears only when player battles Bianco Angelo or Alto Angelo.

Anyone who lives in UK who knows if curse words among british youths is common?
If yes - then that would explain why it's being used.

I don't think it's got anything to do with that - I think it's more in line with what people believe makes something more "gritty" or "realistic" or "relatable". If you want a darker, edgier more serious product then you tend to whack in something like profanity or sex or drugs or whatever in keeping with what is currently percieved as fitting that role.

But if profanity is common thing among british youths - that would explain it. Since the goal is to make DmC Dante more realistic or more relateable.

I asked the question "is it common?" because my little brother has british friends and he started using curse words that his friends use.

There are a few words which would be particular to British people, but that's more slang than universally recognised swear words.

Profanity isn't something I think you can pin down to being common among one set of people, youths or otherwise. It depends on where you live, who you mix with, as to whether you can say something is common to a particular demographic.

I don't think the goal is to make him more relate-able. I just think he is more relate-able for me, in my own personal opinion. I think they are still trying to make their game, DmC, cool. Which is what it's fundementally about.

I agree with Angel. DmC is adding this stuff into it because it classes that stuff as more gritty and intense.

Well i think they have made DmC to appeal to british youths first and foremost. And if cursing is a common thing among youths - then yes that could explain why there may be in DmC.

Fair enough :D

If we ever do get the chance to interview someone from NT in the future, perhaps we can ask them about this sort of thing and see what has inspired some of their choices.

^ I agree with people who think that the ultimate purpose is to make DmC and its Dante 'cool'. With that being said, unfortunately, 'cool' is used in a way that is described only by NT. And since NT is British affiliated(?), would it be far-fetched to think that 'cool' is actually 'UK-cool'?!
As far as this DmC being M-rated is concerned, I thought it was pretty obvious when we saw (DmC-) Dante smoking in the first trailer!

Speaking as someone from the UK, I don't even know what could be construed as "cool" - but then again, I'm an old lady and not down with the kids anymore so maybe all the stuff NT are doing is perceived as cool by those infinitely younger and more cool than me ;)

Well CoolDemon, I think differently and I don't like your opinion at all...

...Not only that, but you post it as if it were fact.

(MASSIVE SARCASM)

On a serious note, I respect your opinion. And as Angel said, I guess only time will tell to see what sort of people this game appeals to. And I think swearing is quite common over here in general, not just in youths. At least it is in my opinion.

Well in that case here is the question "is DmC a game that's mostly influenced by British youths perceptions of cool or is it influenced by international perceptionsl? If it's the latter - could you then point out three things by DmC that you have implented into the game that's considered cool international?"

What do you think of the question?

Glad it's sarcasm. :)

Yeah, you want to hear some of the elderly people speak near where I live...

@CoolDemon - I think that's a pretty good question :) If we do ever get the opportunity, I'll make sure we get to ask it. Can't guarantee they'll asnwer it though...;)

On a slightly different note, do you think the rating will encourage those considered underage to buy it? And if any of you have to rely on parents to be willing to pay for your games, will they buy it for you or not based on the rating and description?

I don't think underage will buy the game because of it's rating. I think they will buy it if they like the cover.
And it's a fact parents aren't always on guard.

And Angel again my brother spoke with british friends on Skype or Teamspeak. And believe me i heard slang and swear words alot.
I got annoyed at my brother too - not because he was trying to have a british accent - but because he kept saying british like swear words lol.

Here are three things you could argue are considered UK cool.

The punk inspiration the game has. The whole idea that smoking is classed as cool. And that swear words are okay to use in every day life. DmC Dante is a punk like rebellious teenager. Perhaps NT consider Dante as however a rebellious teenager in the UK would be percieved as.

Whether these things considered as 'UK' cool are as cool in other countries, I do not personally know.

But the argument against those three things is - Punk movement's core is UK.
So Punk movement related looks/stuff is probably more visible in UK?

From my own knowledge, the Punk movement is more visible in the UK. I don't know how anyone else would argue against that, though.
