In all my years as a gamer I've seen a few very similar situations at the one been descrived where the media glorifies the game but then it comes time for reviews and they tend to be pretty average.
They will interview a game maker and they will make it seem like their game is the second comming of Christ and the interviewer will agree and say, 'yeah, that's so cool, never seen a game do that before, how amazing' and two months later they'll give it a 6 out of 10... for every fricken game ever!
So much for all that hype they had going! It seems two faced to me to have a dude come and talk about their game, show it to you, telling him it's a diamond in the rough and then actually giving him an average score. I get that that's how advertising works and reviewrs have to be truthful or loose credibility but it seems wrong to me that you'll have 'em on your show helping them spread the word and then having to tell the world 'meh' about the same product they were putting on pettastools a few weeks after effectively contradicting themselves. Previews and reviews should be handled seperatly and by two different enteties and making sure that they are devided and making sure everyone is clear on it, but that's just a pipe dream, I know that there is no way around it, it's the nature of the beast, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
