DmC Overhype

To be honest, I doubt the game will be super-popular either in the mainstream. However, Devil May cry never was an exorbitantly popular series. I figure with the new people who will be brought to the series, and those fans who still accept the game, DmC will probably sale around the same number of units as past titles.

Nothing like the "Call of Duty numbers" Capcom had originally aimed for. That was just a silly idea in the first place >.<

That is where we can agree on, they overshot the number.

. Nope they didn't they just needed 5 million overall sales PC+PS3+Xbox360, if the game is amazing, it can sell over 6 million overall, with ease. If it's good I'm expecting Arkham Asylum numbers, if it's okay I'm expecting Bayonetta numbers, all platforms included...

I wouldn't call it overhype.

Some people actually think this game is all that in a bag of chips. (Old line, whatever>_< )

Personally I let my own eyes do the talking, not a reviewer of a previewer.

Like how reviews of DMC2 came and they were all saying how it was so bad and all that, but I played it, and it wasn't as bad as people said it was. It was just a different style, and a rather interesting one at that.

In the end previewers are suppose to overhype.

All I know is; I won't let some reviewer or haters stop me from seeing this game for myself.

Where is the overhype?

Seriously, I see nobody saying that DmC is the best game ever, the best piece of apple pie ever made, the best game of the world, the best DMC ever and so on.

I saw no critic or preview stating that. I've seen good reviews and good things about the game, but at the same time, focusing on what could have been better and so on and even focusing some negative stuff.

There is no overhype. Overhype is just a term that obviously comes from fanboys who can't see that nothing is a masterpiece.

Fanboys only know the good sides and they keep saying that a game has no flaws. So far, I haven't seen anybody saying that. Even those who don't like the game, are able to see that there is something positive about it ( graphics for example).

All in all, it's about opinions and these are subjective like everything, I guess. :)

Well, I haven't read every preview or review so far...If such sites are really doing that, well, they shouldnt do...

i remember seeing one website saying that it one best hack n slash and another saying that DmC saved the franchise.... no just no

It didn't save the franchise, but it did get the franchise more attention, bring the series back into the light, and is considered in some record book somewhere (I'm sure of it) that it's the "Biggest controversial **** storm of 2010."

i can see why and what do you mean by bringing the series back into the light it was doing fairly well

The thing that's interesting to me; is you don't see these type of discussions for most games. Once again, previews are supposed to be overly positive and optimistic, DmC isn't getting any more positive press than any other game gets during their preview time. But you didn't see "DMC4, are we overhyped?", "Bayonetta, Overhype?" etc... when those games were being previewed. We didn't have people saying "DMC3 probably is getting too much positive attention and probably can't live up to it".

It's mostly only DmC that has people saying "Ok, you can be excited but you can't be too excited".

its an unwanted reboot thats the problem before there was mention of a new dmc people were wanting a sequel to 2 finishing nero and dantes story or a game about vergil or sparda no one wanted a reboot then NT a developer that is sub-pair comes in to make the reboot and then insult old fans of the series

I'm sorry, but you're only speaking for some of the fans. I actually wanted a reboot when I finished DMC4; I was absolutely shocked when several years later there was one. I don't really care about seeing a finish to Nero or Dante's story because I don't think they planned that far ahead for Nero and if they had for Dante it's long since lost with how many people have been handed his story over the years. Who's to say NT are a sub-par developer? Old fans? I've been with DMC since 1 on the PS2, I bought DMC2 when it was brand new, I bought DMC3, DMC3:SE and DMC4:LE all on day one. I'm not in the least insulted that there's a reboot.

NT has pretty much only made Heavenly Sword and Odyssey to the West both of which they hired people to write the story for i guess its true that not every fan of Dmc didnt want a reboot but atleast do it gracefully instead of jamming it down consumers throats and insulting fans of the original series i mean come on i hate to say this in case it insults anyone but DmC is greatly lacking in originality most of it comes from other games or movies and for ppl that say that nothing can be original anymore is lying

But that's just the thing, everything in your posts and mine are just our opinions. Opinions that I'm sure have been posted and re-posted on this forum hundreds of times since DmC was announced. We could debate over this until the game comes out and that wouldn't make either of us anymore right or wrong. But that's the thing, why can't I love how DmC looks? Why can't I believe that DmC is an (mostly) original idea.

This isn't something that has a concrete answer; someone could walk up to me tomorrow and say "Hi, how are you!" and I could walk away feeling insulted and angry. Someone else could do the same thing and I could walk away feeling happy and knowing someone cares.

What I'm trying to say here is that we're on two different sides of a fence, with different views. I'm fine with anyone who doesn't like DmC and doesn't like Ninja Theory and whatever, I just don't like people making blanket statements like "old fans are insulted".

its your opinion and i respect that but i just have to say that the only way DmC will be any good IMO is that it can live up to the 3 and 4

Inuyasha story

Inuyasha was born of a powerful demon, and a human mother. They had two sons who carried both the blood of a demon and human. Inuyasha was the good one and Sesshomaru was the bad one. Sesshomaru got The demon father's katana, while Dant--I mean Inuyasha took the big ass sword. Both are rivals and fight each other from time to time in order for Inuyasha to stop Sesshomaru from gaining their father's power.

Sound familiar?

And do I have to involve Metal Gear Solid into this?

The pain of butthurt can be remedied, but the pain will always be remembered and discussed for eternity.
Or at least on these forums.

As for the overhype, a few good words from people who have tried the game and people call it overhype? Think about this... What if the game is actually just really that good? Ever thought of that? Of course not, that would never be acceptable, because you still feel the butthurt.

I can personally not state that the game is in fact good. I will find out when I try it out for myself. But it looks promising when I see everyone who have tried it seems to praise it. Why would they do that if it was a bad game? Game reviewers can be brutally honest and if there's something they don't like, they will definately tell you. Over and over again. Because that is how people are in the gaming community! If something is bad, they will make sure EVERYONE knows their opinion about it and they will say it again and again and again, never stopping to complaint and many will even search for more things they can complain about to make sure that their dislike for the game stays true. They will tear down people who support or like the game, because they cannot possibly accept that the game can be liked by anyone.

But no, I don't think DmC is overhyped. I would like to see if there really are any negative things about it, but so far it doesn't seem like it. If the previews and reviews keep being positive, then I guess it's because they can't find any negative things to say about it. That's just good though, I would like for the game to be good and succeed, and I would like to enjoy it once I get it myself.
