DmC might get a next gen remake? "DmC: Devil may Cry Ultimate"

I wouldn't call the series "dead" just yet. There's always potential projects like

DMC4 sequel
DMC2 sequel
DMC2 remake
 
There's definitely a lot of potential, but I think at this point we should demand quite a bit more from them...

An addition to the classic Devil May Cry series neeeeeeeeeeeeeeds to finally do something about plugging up stupid plotholes and the mess that the canon became, and finally focus on giving the players straight answers.

I had an idea for a big blow-out DMC5...

DMC5 should be a total nod to the series as a whole, and possibly the best way to let it go out with a bang. It should have two full sides, a la DMC2 (not DMC4). According to Bingo's novelization of DMC4, after the events of the game, Nero started his own Devil May Cry to hunt for demons, but DMC5 should focus on actually telling us about Nero's origins, and thus most of Nero's side should comprise him searching for information on his origins, and ultimately learning how he's connected to Sparda. In the process of this, he would learn of inklings that the demon king Mundus is mounting a revival in Hell, which he learns of because he holds the true key to the demon world; Yamato, which demons have begun to seek out. This is all happening around the time that Dante is fighting Arius's forces in DMC2. Requiring some much needed help, Nero seeks out Dante, only to find Lucia waiting for his return, and here, Nero learns that Dante hasn't been seen for a while after he went to Hell - Nero knows what he's going to have to do...

This also works to tease that the motorcycle we hear at the end of DMC2 was not Dante returning, but Nero arriving to Dante's office, where he finds Lucia.

On Dante's side, we've last seen him in DMC2's ending driving around Hell in a motorcycle, popping sweet wheelies into the sunset. Stuck in Hell, he's forced to fight off the demons that are still around, and in the process he is shown much of his past. The demons will pull at his memories, showing him things that players haven't known about, fleshing out Dante's character more, and even trying to explain his shift in mood between DMC4 and DMC2. Levels will be comprised of new places, as well as some old favorites as nods to his past exploits, like portions of Temen-ni-Gru and the castle on Mallet Island. We'll also get to hear more about a shifting leadership among the forces of Hell, as some demons who were sympathetic to Sparda have finally been able to stand up since Mundus was no longer around to silence them. So, Dante's story is comprised of his memories, learning more about himself, Sparda's legacy, and helping a sympathetic demon army rise against Mundus' remaining forces that are attempting to revive him. It ends up sort of like a reversal on the war for the throne we all know that got Lucifer and his followers cast out of heaven.

In the end, both sides culminate in Nero using Yamato's power to break open a seal to Hell, arriving fashionably on time to help Dante in the main assault against Mundus' forces. In the end, we've got Dante and Nero fighting against the newly revived Mundus, putting him down for good, and ending the series on a high note, where we know everything, and people can go out knowing they just experienced one of the craziest DMCs ever, and then go even crazier in Bloody Palace as Dante or Nero, or both in a co-op mode.

And I just had a great idea for the "announcement trailer," where a guy with white, slicked back hair and a dark blue coat is following some guy as he runs away. The guy realizes he's cornered, and turns into a demon, but the white-haired man lets out the Devil Bringer and pulls it close, smashing it into things. The two fight and the Yamato appears out of the Devil Bringer's hand and the man slices up the demon's arms and legs. Then he grabs demon by the neck and pushes it into a wall, finally asking in Nero's angry growl "Where...is Dante...?" BAM cue Devil May Cry 5 title card.

There's also a lot that a DmC2 could do, especially with expanding the functions on the controller for more moves, more speed (or at least a Turbo option just because why not?), and if it went next-gen, we can have the smooth framerate people want, but still have those crazy abstract environments that were the reason for the 30fps lock. Granted...Limbo is sorta "down" now, so crazy abstract environments might not even be an issue in a sequel.
 
Nice! Although I really don't feel like returning to Ouroboros City or The Despaired Embodied's Hell. What I mean to say is that DMC2's enviroments were rather void and lifeless.
 
DMC2 remake
I don't think this one's ganna happen. It'd be too much of a commitment, once you do this you are going to have to remake the other two PS2 games. You start with 2, and let's say it works and they vastly improve the game, then people will be like 'now do one and three' and the commitment just isn't in capcom.

Oh of course. Granted the Despair Embodied's room is hardly all of Hell, and the idea of going through Dante's memories makes for a lot of diverse locations, despite him still being "in Hell". Nero's quest also wouldn't even have to take him anywhere close to the island Vie du Marlee (sp?) from DMC2 either :p

With Dante going through memories and different areas of Hell, and Nero possibly roving through different locales to find answers (possibly following in Vergil's footsteps, maybe even ending up on Mallet Island), there'd be a lot of potential for diverse environments.

They did that with Resident Evil, right? And DMC2 was the only one deemed unworthy by the fandom, so I see no reason to remake 1 and 3.

Resident Evil was then when Capcom was still young and would make cool games. Capcom now won't waste their time and so-called "talent" on remaking an entire game.

Money. The investment just isn't sound. The HD collection barely made it passed the 1 mil mark. That tells us that those that want the game already had it, and they were unwilling to invest in the same game again. If Capcom had the money to try rebuilding the games from the ground up I still don't think they would, you can never really match initial sales of any game. There would have to be something new, something that would propel people to buy a game they already own, something that makes it worth paying for it again. To simply improve visuals is not enough. If they fixed issues it's a start, but they would have to go above and beyond just that to grab enough attention to merit a purchase.

I think the difference is that Resident Evil's remake was because it was a very popular game that they wanted to update, and it also coincided with RE Zero. DMC2 is much less popular (for obvious reasons) and I'd sort of imagine it drawing ire similar to DmC, because of the reputation the game has, it would make too many people skeptical - even with the promise of updated mechanics.

Although, my mind is racing slightly about how they could update DMC2's controls.

One of the most ironic things Capcom could do was make a DmC HD Collection with a DMC2 HD as a second disc.

This sounds brilliant! Way better than my idea... This brings together everything we remember from the previous games in one helluva fashion. It's resolves all the loose ends and ties everything up into a nice, neat package.

If it did merge with ours, then maybe it's safe to say that in particular places of the Earth, the ludicrous environments that we're familiar with from Limbo may have survived the crash into our dimension, enveloping and replacing the orthodox structures of our world with theirs. A method of explaining why Dante would visit these locations would be by simply explaining that the all of the demons from Limbo are having difficulties adjusting to their new habitat in our world. These demons are looking for any shred of their homeland, and upon discovering these areas that Limbo has left it's mark on, they hide away in these places. It also wouldn't be too far fetched to introduce the Temen-ni-Gru in this fashion. Maybe it was once a demonic structure in Limbo that has moved to Earth after the merge.
 
This sounds brilliant! Way better than my idea... This brings together everything we remember from the previous games in one helluva fashion. It's resolves all the loose ends and ties everything up into a nice, neat package.

It's what we, as fans, and the classic series itself deserves, honestly.

If it did merge with ours, then maybe it's safe to say that in particular places of the Earth, the ludicrous environments that we're familiar with from Limbo may have survived the crash into our dimension, enveloping and replacing the orthodox structures of our world with theirs. A method of explaining why Dante would visit these locations would be by simply explaining that the all of the demons from Limbo are having difficulties adjusting to their new habitat in our world. These demons are looking for any shred of their homeland, and upon discovering these areas that Limbo has left it's mark on, they hide away in these places. It also wouldn't be too far fetched to introduce the Temen-ni-Gru in this fashion. Maybe it was once a demonic structure in Limbo that has moved to Earth after the merge.

This is actually similar to what I have in DmC -Stairway to Heaven-; Limbo was a dimensional veil that was seeping onto Earth and blocking out angels, and after the Hellgate was closed Limbo fell into pieces, but what remained were the rifts, which are supernatural portals that allow easy access to the bridge dimension that is Limbo/Purgatory. Demons could still influence areas, and hung around places where rifts were located, allowing them to still access their magic and if strong enough, to even create the abstract Limbo environments inside pocket dimensions. Plus, now that the dimensional veil is down, angels have been coming back, setting up shop on rifts of their own, like one in a church.

I also have plans for a return of a particular iconic location from the classic series, buuuuut I don't wanna spoil it.

yaaay. another ps4 remake that i feel obligated to buy (crap, i'm running low on money). but yeah. i think it's done. because (and correct me if i'm wrong) i was under the impression that DmC was made because capcom didn't want to make any more.

Yeah, actually. Ironically, a lot of what he divulged was right in line with plans I had myself, so everything is pretty much moving along just as keikaku.

Well, you're in luck, because it's not a next-gen remastering - just a digital game+DLC collection.

And DmC was certainly their last idea at the time, since Capcom said if they hadn't have made DmC there'd be none (so it wasn't a matter of DmC or DMC5), but now because of fan reaction, both for and against DmC, I think they're beginning to see its relevancy is still around.

That sounds nice! But I don't know how to incorporate Arkham in DmC2. I like to think of DmC Mundus as a combination of the Dante trilogy's three villains:

Mundus- Well he's Mundus
Arius- businessman in giant tower cliche
Arkham- He's bald

So I have no clue as to how Arkham would be designed considering how much DmC Mundus looks similar to Arkham.
 
Hahahaha I like how Arkham's defining trait is that he's bald.

I think at most DmC Mundus is Mundus and Arius, being a businessman and all. Arkham has potential to be someone else entirely, some new villain. His goals are still the same - become a powerful demon, which would work well as a nuisance for Dante.
