This is actually a rather silly statement, considering that DMC games have a vast amount of replayability outside of just playing for the story. The gameplay itself is why people still make combo videos for ten year old games :p

I think Vash and Judge meant new story content would be something that could appeal to casuals more than the gameplay changes like 60fps/lock-on which is true-ish and i think people are getting ahead of themselves with DMC4 as they think Vergil's inclusion would lead to new story content (maybe/maybe not).

Basically I'm not agreeing with Vash, in fact I think he makes some incorrect assumptions. Yet I agree with some of what he said. I think a lot of players will never see Gods Must Die mode, yet alone buy the game for a super hard mode, when they barely finished it at Nephilm mode.

Don't get me wrong I hope a lot of players pick up DmC so they can see how good it is, but I agree where Vash was coming from with that remark.

That works for DMC4 SE as well. A lot of people seem to have in their imagination that DMC4 SE will contain double the content DMC4 had. Since apparently DMC4's development was cut in half. They expect half the game will be remade or made for the sole purpose of making DMC4 feel like complete game. Theres no proof that Capcom intended to make DMC4's content or lenght anymore substantial than it actually was.

How many people actually finished DMC4?
I beat it on easy mode. Didn't bother to do more since it would mean having to go through all that hassle of back tracking, dice game, and having to play as Nero again, which, even if I skip cutscenes, is still annoying since he only has his gun, sword, and demon arm.
For me DMC4 is a game I can only go through once. After that, it's not worth it anymore. It's just...so boring.

And now that I said this, I'll suspect that either innsmouth will come by with a negative comment towards DmC to cover for DMC4's short coming, but hey, I'm just guessing the pattern.

Then why the question of "did you finish DMC4"? I gave my reason. I know other people have different reasons, so here's mine.

Question is "How many people finished DMC4" not "Did you finish DMC4".
Gotta reason on a much larger scale, taking into account way more stuff than a personal experience cause that doesn't mean anything when it comes to a worldwide scale.

From what I can gather from Steam, looks like lots of people finished DMC4.
Researching about DmC, it seems lots of people finished it as well. Even though the amount of hours I see people put on DMC4 is higher in comparison.

That's PC though. I figure it's easier to check on PS and Xbox thanks to the trophies/achievements (DMC4 doesn't have Steam achievement support, I had to check the Hub page).

Well guys I didn't want to derail this thread, I was responding to how Foxtrot94 mentioned Vash makes some good points. He's not really relevant to the discussion anymore.

DragonMaster I had a similar experience with DMC4. I still enjoyed some it though. Yet I don't want this to turn into a thread into something negative for either game. We can discuss DMC4 in another thread when it comes out.

With that being said... Only 9 days to go. I think the reviews will be out in about 7 days, two days before the game comes out, maybe more.

That means that when the reviews come out Gregaman will give us the change log. Not long to go guys. I'm half expecting, half hoping for high review scores.

I suspect that the opinion of the critics will remain mostly the same, and slightly better here and there. ;)

I totally expect (and need) this game to play how I feel after I shave my legs and put on silk pants.

@DragonMaster2010 that's you. Here we're talking about a much larger scale. Can't make large assumptions based on our personal experience.
On a large scale it's well known that DMC4 is a boring, recycled mess.

If DMC4SE just adds Vergil and rehashes the same stages for him as well, I have no interest.

Unless the game turns out to be a un-optimized mess, I suspect it'll get solid-good review like last time. That tends to be the track-record of re-releases of positively received games.
The first game received 8/9 from most publications. There is no reason the enhanced version at a lower price point would score less. If it does score less, we'll know they didn't get a check from Capcom for the review.

Yeah, there are some downright laughable things being said here. I'm not surprised that people like Vash feel compelled to make fun of this forum, at times. You can have your opinions, of course, but don't expect anyone to take you seriously if you go on stating absurdities as facts.

No game is perfect, but there are standards in this genre. I think it makes sense to qualify our statements rather than relying on extremes, even though that's not necessarily as fun or attention-grabbing as one might like.

To be clear, I'm not trying to tell anyone how to write or what to say. I'm just giving some helpful advice for those of you who feel your opinion doesn't quite get across to others.

I never said it was fact. I just said how I felt about it and that's it. Nothing more. That. Was. All.

I think people are holding DMC4 to high for expectations. I'm not expecting new levels, new cutscenes, or anything like that. I expect the SE to be like DMC3's SE; adding in Vergil only for cosmetics and skill with no story of his own, probably one cutscene that has no significance to it and is just there to be there like DmC: DE's new cutscene, and a few enhancements with gameplay. Probably one secret boss added ala; Jester.

Oh, I was more talking about trickSTAR's comment than anyone else ("on a large scale it's well known," that kind of thing). I meant nothing personally toward you, DragonMaster, as I fully endorse expressing your opinion and how it colors your perspective on things. I only frown upon people speaking for others or behaving as though their (often naive) opinion is objectively true. I'll try to avoid being so vague in the future.

I'm a girl, so I'm just gonna go ahead and assume that nobody here feels me.

I know, LoD's gonna kill me.

So back on-topic -- how many copies would you buy? XD

You must have only played half of DMC4 then. It's quite obvious that half the game is recycled from the missions to the boss fights for Dante's side. Drag DmC all you want, but they didn't try that even with Vergil's mode when they very well could have.
