Now see, that's slightly contradictory. Taunts are an integral part of the classic DMC - for both magic generation and Style retention (as well as just looking cool), but to prevent emotional scenes from losing their pathos you should just not use an integral part of game's combat system?
I can see where you're coming from, but personally, I've never seen taunts that way, but more like another means to pull of cool stuff. To regen my DT gauge and keep the style meter up I could still do combos (yeah it's not as fast as taunts, but still) varying my attacks.
I know DmC's combat system is built without taunts in mind, that's what bothers me. Although it's just a minor issue.
And scripted taunts... I would be no with that. Taunts are not only a matter of words, also of gestures. And having a scripted taunt that automatically plays after a combo would be really annoying for me. I want to trigger it when I feel like it. Some combo videos you can find on YouTube are freaking awesome because of that, like for example, in DMC4, Dante being like "Pfff I was expecting better" when the last enemy is still alive with all the Lucifer pins attached on his body, only to make them detonate right after the taunt.
Or Nero pretending to shoot with the Blue Rose right before the Charge Shot 3 explosion kills the enemy in front of him.
Things like that are crazy, man, and I was missing those playing DmC. And it's definitely not the same with scripts.
Again, it's just a personal issue of mine, if you're fine without taunts, no probs.
