True. When it comes down to it, it's kind of a video game magazine's job to make the interview catch the reader.
1.Speaking clearly does not change the fact that it is an inexact way of phrasing things. the literal meaning is 15 years however the way people speak includes more meaning that the exact dictionary definition. it would be extremely awkward and difficult to convey Dante's age exactly phrasing things that way if he is just a few years older or younger so that is why that way of phrasing things is not used to convey exact information.According to the transcript Tameem said "He IS " , not just "a decade and a half".
Tameem didn´t reply by mumbling "a decade and half younger than me", he started the sentence with HE IS, and if you ask me it sounds like he speaks of it as a fact.
And whether people aren´t being exact when they say "decade and half" is your opinion as far as i am concerned, and if you want me to BELIEVE your words then go ahead and present to me a source that states that. Because i could picture myself saying "decade and half" instead of "15". Neither do i see how i am not being exact by using "decade and half"
Decade = 10 years
Half of a decade = 5
10+5 = 15.
If Dante is not 23 and actually older than that, 24 or 25 then he´s one immature talking person.

Find that magazine if you can. Though i am pretty sure the magazine most likely talked about possible age. There are still sites that believe DmC is a prequel
2. the 20-25 age range is based entirely on what was said by Tameem. if you take into account Dante's personality the age range would probably be 20-22 with 20 being more likely than the others.

Dudes, talk is cheap like they say, and decade and a half can be basically anything from 21-25 (maybe even more/less) since it's an interview not an essay where you have time to edit your answers...
I interpret decade and half as what it implies. Don´t know why everyone think it´s not exact.

You haven´t explained to me why decade and half isn´t exact. Other than telling me it can mean 20-25 or something like that.
I understand decade as ten years, and half of ten years is 5.

it is an informal way of saying things and you can only refer to a few numbers in a similar manner without significant effort so people do not phrase things in that manner when it is necessary to convey an exact number. it is used only to provide a general idea of what something is. when conveying information that is meant to be exact the actual number is used. the way words tend to be used matters not just the literal meaning of the words.
the point of what Tameem was saying was to prove that Dante was not based on him not to convey new information about Dante.
