I freaking LOVE Bayonetta. It's in my opinion the best game in the genre, even if the combat is not as deep as DMC 3 and 4.

Seriously. I'm buying both because Iove Metal Gear and COMPLETELY support Platinum Games. I'm buying DmC because I love the demo and everything I've seen about it. Compare the two if you want but meh, both are great.

Because in general, japanese developers tend to understand how gameplay works and make great mechanics for their games, while western developers tend to make generic gameplay for a story-driven experience that holds your hand in a too linear experience with magnetic platforms and hand-holding. Ninja Theory may be an exception to the rule, but only AFTER working with a japanese developer very closely, specially about gameplay, before that their games were also generic in that department.

Just compare any western shooter with Vanquish or Resident Evil 6, they don't stand a chance when it comes to mechanics, even the biggest ones like Gears of War. And that's a genre dominated by western devs.

And seriously, in this forum the question should be "Why does DmC gets a free pass at everything it has, no matter how flowed?", it really bugs me that unskippable cutscenes in the middle of a boss fight is seen as "nitpicking" in here, and also complaining about big loading times is reason to be laughed at, like you can't grab yourself a drink during that time. It's ridiculous, that's not the kind of feedback that will help the game improve in future iterations, that's just ass kissing that supports the kind of behavior they had about fans, even when they were offering very solid feedback about the game by playing the demo.

I am perplex that as it was pointed out that MGS fans knows MGR is not trying to take MGS place yet the way that is presented it's like saying DMC fans are not smart enough to know DmC is not trying to or want to take over DMC since they are in different worlds and canons. 0_o

Ah well I will just get both and be happy since I like them both well enough to get them when I want to.

I like DmC a lot more than MGR because I think that DmC feels more cinematic, almost like GOW. I like a game that makes you feel like your character has power, like that (albeit very small) pause between each hit. It makes the hit feel like it actually did damage.
MGR plays more like Bayonetta, where the game runs much more quickly, but, at least the impression I got from the demo, it does not have the same polish as Bayonetta and the game seems a tad too simple to be as good as most people consider it. It was rushed, but not for that reason. The game was already in development for too long, they couldn't have much time with it otherwise it wouldn't be worth it for Konami and they would just cancel it. Platinum had to work hard and fast, and that will certainly affect the game's length, you can mark my words.

I just hope it has good replay value, if it does I don't care much about how long it is. If it doesn't, then the short campaign will definitely impact the game's quality.

Yup, I don't get it either. It almost feels pointless to even bring up points like these on the forums when people just tell you to it's perfectly fine and you should stop complaining. I can understand why people might be more reactive towards criticism due to the amount of negativity thrown at the game(at least in some places), but it doesn't absolve the game from any criticism. No game is perfect and if there are glaring flaws or aspects people don't like then they should be discussed.

I think it's chosen because MetalGearRising isn't a MetalGearSolid Reboot & is it's own title within the MetalGearSolid universe.
It is not trying to replace MetalGearSolid in anyway, it's only adding story to a few of it's characters.
It would be like Nero gotten his own game where Dante didn't have any influence at all.
MetalGearRising is a branch of MetalGearSolid, not a Reboot or replacement.
So fans are getting both a fleshed out story with Raiden & it's not inferring with Snake.

No fans alienated, just a little confused lol.

And it's much more welcoming to have a title branch off then having a favorite longtime series turned into an unlikeable Reboot.
That's what it's showing.

That is your view, my view of things is I know and saw a lot of MGS fans wanting a new MGS game and this game was announced and there was nothing in the way of a reaction as DmC got, I mean Raiden who I really like when he was first introduced he was bashed and bashed to no end some people even went as far as to say he did not belong in the game and my gods other things then as time went by yes people still hated him but now most people think he is cool, now when I saw the new game was staring Raiden I was happy but was waiting for the rage since I have seen people wanting a new MGS game as people wanted a new DMC game but the MGS fans got MGR instead and as it was pointed out know that both games do not really affect the other as DMC and DmC does not affect each other.

So tell me how is it the fans who were waiting for a new MGS game is not acting out about MGR (although I am sure there are some who are) as there is about DmC when it has been beating over and over that neither DMC and DmC are in the same canon and misinformation about that fact is being spread around by people who are upset that there is no DMC5 about DmC just to bring people into their point of view of DmC is taking over DMC story line and related to the new game, some do not even try to find out that big fact or anything about it because they are glued to the fact that they are not getting their DMC5..so saying that the MGS fans know that MGR has nothing to fear with the new game is making the DMC fans look bad because it has been said and said that both games have nothing to do with the other.

I am just going to continue to sit on my sideline and continue to watch what is going on since it has nothing to do with me because I know what I like and how others feel about something also does not affect me. I am going to get both games since I know what I need to know about the both new games and intend to hopefully have fun with both when I get them.

Edit: Also what Capcom does with it's own product is up to them, I am not a developer or a creator or owner whatever they do is their right to do even if I would love a new DMC I am not going to expect them to put one out just because I want it, if they can put it out and make it good then good if they don't then fine my life does not revolve around what game comes out even if I am anticipating it because then that is like saying a company runs your life with what they. choose to do. heck they can for some reason turn Dante into a girl and it is up to me if I want to play it or and that is if I am interested hey who knows I might be if they did that if it grabs me but other then that they could announce DMC5 and I could decide not to get it because it does not interest me or I could pre-order it if it does same with if a DmC2 gets announced just because I get one does not mean I might want the other if I am not interested in it.

I know there was some but from what I've seen it was not as bad..then again I tend to keep away from the hornet nest so to speak but I can recall how it was when Raiden was introduced the first time which I think is when I really started staying away, I only know what I allow myself to see if I can not avoid it or block it. but question since you know how bad it was or is..has it lasted and got worst over time? I myself will not even try to find out by going to look. lol

Edit: When you say bad are the upset fans disliking every video on YT or going on every community/Fourm etc bashing it or trolling it as DmC has gotten even going so far as death treats and making petitions or even saying they will boycott? just want to know how bad you've seen.

When MGR was originally announced as Metal Gear Solid: Rising, people seemed like they were perfectly fine with it, but when Platinum was brought on board and they unveiled the reworked Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, people were quite livid, even after being told that it was removed from the MGS continuity and placed as a "What-if" game, akin to the AC!D series and Ghost Babel. It was funny hearing people say that Platinum Games "ruined a series." I think it's died down a little, but at times I still see a lot of the same vitriol DmC still gets. Many of the videos also have a lot more dislikes than normal as well, showing that the mark of "passionate fans" is strong in any game.

There is a part of me that wonders if many people are only following MGR now because of Platinum Games' involvement on the project, and people feeling slighted by DmC...

In terms of MGR it just looks exactly like Bayonetta (minus the pistols) and to me, much like Bayo, all combos look pretty much the same and the combat although quick doesn't make me feel like I'm cutting into an enemy. Side note : I didn't actually play Bayo due to its hyper-sexualisation which to me was immature of Platinum. DmC to me is more interesting with cooler enemies and a more interesting narrative mixed with deep combat - many old fans only go for MGR cuz they assume it being made by Platinum makes it equivalent to DMC. What are you talking about? Who did what to the Ninja Gaiden series? Neither Platinum Games nor Ninja Theory had anything to do with Ninja Gaiden. I think you might be thinking of Team Ninja, and they were always at Ninja Gaiden's helm.

DAMMIT! I guess I was looking at a gameplay reference. Some of the sequences in MGR felt like Ninja Gaiden almost.

They're both ninja games And think about it, Platinum Games is good at taking an existing product and turning it on its ear. They did it for Vanquish, off of Gears of War. I'd still take MGR over any of the Ninja Gaidens any day.
