Sorry, that first response was for that chocolaty-phantasm before you :x

Just playing devils advocate here I have read an article where Tameem apperently said I dont care what the fans think (however that was a very sketchy article that claimed tameem smoked in it which i haven't seen him do in any video). He also said games like bayonetta were stupid (paraphrasing) which dmc fans took as bayonetta is a spiritual successor to dmc, if he thinks bayonetta is stupid he thinks dmc is stupid. Those are the two big ones that got their panties in a knot if i can think of any others I can mention them.

I think I've seen those interviews, and it was a lot of contrivances on both. Him "not caring" was taken out of context from either talking about how they were treating the developers and game from unfounded rumors and a 90 second CG trailer that showed no gameplay. It was that, or when he said that he "wasn't making the game the way he thought fans wanted, because that's not being true to the creative process." It's like trying to make something to appeal to people just because that's what's "big these days," like "Vampires are real popular, lets do stuff about them!" It's like you're just sorta...phoning it in.

And from what I remember of any instance that Bayonetta was mentioned, it was mostly that they didn't care about Bayonetta, because they weren't trying to make a Bayonetta game. Even if he did say Bayonetta was stupid (paraphrased), it's still his opinion, and I'd be inclined to agree with him >_< The combat in that game is solid, but...god...I just hate everything else about it :x

When asked if he thought the game was cool, Tameem said...

“Personally, I don’t. I love the game. I think it’s awesome. It’s taken everything — it’s just gone to a total extreme. But in terms of, ‘Do I think it’s cool?’ No, not at all. I think it’s caricatured and over-the-top and very ‘Japanesey,’ and for that absurd style it does that really well, but that’s not what I want.”

He said he loved the game.
He said the game was "Awesome".
He said it's taken everything.
He said it took it's style and it did it well. "Really well."

He simply doesn't identify the game as 'Cool' by his tastes. What's the big deal? The game is flashy, over-the-top and uber-goofy japanesey style. That's not cool, that's crazy fun. Just, Not 'cool'.

...And, by my tastes, he's right.

My sentiments exactly. Although for me...DMC has this...overt coolness - they make Dante do all this absurd, over-the-top stuff, and it's awesome, even if he ends up looking like a dork. But with Bayonetta...Kamiya tried something similar, but instead of over coolness, he had this thing about over sexuality, and (for me at least) it just doesn't transfer over as well like it did in DMC. She does a lot of cool stuff, but the main focus was that sexual overtone, and it just ruined everything she did. IT literally undercut all the cool stuff she did for me - my favorite move was the one where you hold the dodge button and she breakdances while shooting in every direction. I thought that was the coolest thing, until she ended it with that...cat model photoshoot pose >.< The things Bayonetta does is meant for arousal, not "OMG that was so cool" like Dante in DMC.

But yeah...*ahem*...that being what Tameem really said - truth. People need to cry their rivers, build their bridges, get over it, and...I dunno...realize people can have opinions.

If everyone cried rivers and build bridges, the world would be flooded and instead of land we would live on said bridges. So either people should stop doing those things or they should remember to dry out the rivers and burn the bridges after have made them. ^^

I agree. DMC is fun, but I don't think it's cool. I think it's re-goddamn-diculous, honestly. Especially 4! Don't get me started with Dante in that game... >_> It'll take an air-horn to get me to stop talking about that.

But if we all lived on bridges, we could all be trolls~

And it seems to work out alright :p

The notion that trolls live under bridges continues to elude me.

It's a fairy tale. A buncha goats wanna cross a bridge, and the troll that lives under it is bein' a douche and asking for them to pay the toll. If I remember correctly, it was some sort of allegory for undue payment for things that are normally given for free; in this case, paying to cross a bridge.

Is that a real place? O.O

I'm gonna say...yes. It's a challenge for making a "greener" city, and this was Italy's idea.

Did the definition of troll also originate from that fairy tale? If so, that means that all trolls are ass hats, which I suppose they are.

Trolls came from older legends and myths from different countries, and the Grimm brothers used a similar version of troll in Billy Goats Gruff. But generally yes, they are shown to be ass-hats. It's of course, also an archaic term for someone with a face only a mother could love.

If I remember correctly Tameem never called Bayonetta stupid, he said it was "Japanesey" in which it is! It's over the top with Japanese influence. So basically he stated a fact and people got mad about that as well.
So now that Tameem personally said the DLC is not on disk and is free the average response is "... THE GAME WILL STILL FLOP ANYWAY!" I don't even know why he bothers trying XD

I was wrong. It wasn't a Grimm fairy tale, and it wasn't an allegory for undue payments. Not sure where I got all that...

The three goats are of varying size, and they each try to cross in order of their size, smallest to largest. The troll wants to eat each of them, but each preceding goat says they should wait for the larger goat, because they'll be a better meal. By the end, the troll gets his ass knocked off the bridge by the gigantic goat, and all the goats get to eat all the grass they want on the other side of the bridge. It's more an allegory of better judgment in situations, I suppose.

But yes...a troll is still an ass-hat.

I've beat Bayonetta like ten times through out my life and I couldn't tell you a single thing about the plot or the world really just because I couldn't comprehend anything that was going on aside from the action. XD The point is not whether or nto hes ntitled to his opinion because he isn't entitled to it when talking to the media at all. That's a simple fact when doing publicity is you cannot speak your mind when working with the media. Just like a interviewer for DmC can't say "you know? personally? I think devil may cry is a ****ty franchise. But that is my opinion." Tameem can't say "Personally? I think bayonetta is stupid (paraphrasing)" just because thats how it is.

Ah okay so then now using what he actually said. Angry fan boy's took that as he dosen't think DMC was cool since that was over the top and japanesey as well and this only confirms that he is going to change everything I have loved about my franchise!

If a journalist asks him what he personally thinks of something, he sorta has a right to give his own opinion - someone asked after all. There's no set rule of how someone has to answer anything, but they have to be aware of the consequences of their answers. In this instance however, it's Tameem's opinion (which was asked), and isn't some "official statement" from NT or Capcom it's him addressing a personal question.

We'll have to agree to disagree here because when Tameem is dealing with a angry fan base who are going to rip about his every word I personally don't believe he is entitled to his own personal opinion. I believe he should be a yes man.

Or, he just took the high road and realized that they were going to twist his every word anyway, so he might as well say "F*ck it" and stop walking on egg shells the whole time. Tameem essentially has zero f*cks to give, and just continues to live his life.

And personally, I'd take the words of a man who tells it like it is, and isn't afraid to say what's on his mind, over a Yes Man who is strictly there just to appease people. Authenticity is important.

I'd take Tameem Antoniades' games over Peter Molyuneux's games any day :p

So would I my point was that if his aim was to appease angry fans then he is in fact not entitled to his opinion (in my opinion) :p
