Relatively unpopular opinions about any and everything

  • Style switching in DMC feels unnecessary and very restricting.
  • Bayonetta is still the King of Hack/sash games due to its easy to pick up gameplay plus it's added depth due to dodge off-setting.
  • I feel as though DMC5 did not make Vergil any better as a character (I feel like they made him worse tbh).
  • DMC5 story felt really disappointing.
  • God of War franchise still has the best stories of its genre.
  • Kratos pre-GoW4 already had depth and conflict in his character.
  • Original Broly is still a better character than New Broly.
  • Dragonball Super Broly encapsulate the worst aspect of Dragonball.
  • The story of MK new timeline is terrible compared to the original.

That's fair. DMC1 was a good game for its time. Nowadays with being able to style switch and having weapons on the fly, DMC1 feels very dated to players who want more fast-paced action.

I mean don't get me wrong, I do still give it credit for starting what is today the very best HnS franchise, unmatched to this day. The basis for DMC's unique, nowhere else-to-be-found gameplay were born from there. However being the first can also be a double edged sword. It is indeed extremely dated, yet that is not the only reason why I've grown to dislike it. Even when I first played it something felt off to me. Though I've explained it more at length in other threads already though so I don't feel like repeating myself here.

There are some games that aged worse than DMC1, and I am mostly talking about games that came afterwards:
  • God of War 1 drags and has pacing issues, and you can't turn off the rage meter once you start it.
  • Vanilla!Ninja Gaiden had really bad checkpoints and save points.
  • Chaos Legion had heavy grinding and low enemy variety.
  • Shinobi (PS2) with worse checkpoints than Ninja Gaiden.
I've already seen your other posts, so you need out reiterate.

EA is once again under attack for their lootbox policies, and once again the old argument "are lootboxes a form of gambling?" is resurfacing.

Well, as much as I hate EA, this time I agree with them that lootboxes aren't gambling.

Now, I know the definition is blurry and open to interpretation, different people and different countries have different concepts of what gambling is. But to me, a key aspect of it is that there has to be the concept of win and loss, as in you spend your money and get nothing in return.

Lootboxes don't have the concept of loss. You might not get what you wanted, or you might get duplicates, but you still do get something. There aren't instances where you open a box and nothing comes out of it.

Are they often a scummy, anti consumer practice? Yes, absolutely, especially when tied to progression, making them a pay to win mechanic. But, IMO, they're not equivalent of gambling. And honestly, you don't need to label them as such to condemn them. You don't need to call them gambling and rely on the negative aura of that term to recognize them as the greedy, scummy practice that they are.

*Superhero fans are way too anal about killing vs not killing.

*Whining about things being too dark and edgy is a bigger cliche than making things be dark and edgy.

*Mortal Kombat might have the best storytelling of any fighting game franchise but improvements still need to be made.
I'd say the OG MK timeline has decent story telling. Modern MK story telling is more quantity than quality to me tbh.

Honestly, with MK11, it looks like they looped back in to the same problems the old MK stories had, but that's me.

Misusing words like 'edgy', 'ironic' and 'antisocial' should never have become acceptable...

Take a shot whenever one of these "intellectuals" misuse the term Mary Sue. You'll keel over in a manner of five minutes.
  • There never needed to be a sequel to Wreck It Ralph. The 2nd move is just another cash-in sequel and why critics thinks it's better than the first is beyond me. Which again shows, they don't know sh@t. I consider it almost as bad as the Emoji movie; if not, in some cases worse.
  • Kick-Ass (film) did not need a sequel either. Definitely should have kept it a one off.
  • Spider-Verse is the best Spider-Man movie ever made and the most comic-book a comic based movie can get.
  • Resident Evil 7 is just okay, with REmake 2 being the true return to RE form.
  • I am excited for Contra Rouge Corps. RC may not look like the best Contra, but the game looks stupid and fun. It's a Contra game with a cyborg panda. What more can you ask for? That said, it won't make up all the crap Konami has done.
  • MadWorld > No More Heroes 2 > No More Heroes. NMH has better bosses and story, not that I disliked MW's story.
  • Dark Knight Rises is a great film and is better than Batman Begins. This is an unpopluar opinion if you are Moviebob, CinemaSins, or the Honest Trailer guys.

Well, as for these, yeah, they are unpopular, but you are certainly not alone in them.

Oh, I'm sorry, your highness. We will endeavour to produce something more fitting for your delicate palate next time. (I'm kidding, of course. We're not going to make anything for you.)

I'm kinda on a case by case basis on this one. This is a pretty popular thing in manga, too. The difference is that a manga is made by one person. The characters are defined clearly and there is only one true interpretation. RoKen, for example, has this a matter of pinnacle importance to the character, it's a defining characteristic as much as his sword is. You can't have one without the other and this is none debatable. The thing is, that's manga. Comics, specially superhero comics, have no stable structure like that. Every famous character has as many incarnations as there are fans for each of them because, for the most part, the comics are made by people who are fans and they will make interpretations. There is no written solid rules that can't be challenged or even broken if the writer wants to. Comics are too fluid to ever say 'it has to be this way.' You can make a Batman comic about a Bruce Wayne that's hindu and fighting in Turkey if you'd so like, so there is little that is set in stone.

Disney needs to stop making live action versions of their cartoons.

They suck.

At the very least they could TRY to find people with talent to take on roles that require the ability to sing.

Thank you. Or at the very least, remake their lesser known or animated films that weren't good.

Purge 2, 3, & 4 are better throwbacks to movies like Escape from NY & Mad Max, than the 2008 film Doomsday. Which started off strong, but goes in to this weird turn in the 2nd act where everyone in the outskirts of the city regress to medieval times. The film just drags in the 2nd act, and does not make a great second viewing.

She is a good singer. But I gotta say, it just seems like they've cast her to appease the PC brigade. Why is everyone afraid of casting white people to play a white character? It's not controversial to try and keep to the film you're adapting from.

And before someone screams at me for being a massive racist, get over yourselves. It's not a case of "white is better", it's a case of "the little mermaid was white". Just like if a white girl played Princess Jasmine or a black girl played Mulan. Nothing to do with being a racist.

I was livid they screwed up Beauty and the Beast...Emma Watson cannot sing, there was zero chemistry between her and the Beast...so much annoyed me about that film I actually cannot sit through it anymore.

Jafar and Iago in Aladdin were dreadful, Naomi Scott can sing but did not have the dynamic vocal ability to perform Speechless (another stupid addition to that film) and her dad? The sultan? He just seemed baffled to be in a film where he wasn't the typecast terrorist. There was this whole dumb 2019 feminism cobblers woven through it which was completely unnecessary too. Personally, I thought it was more PC crap. Jasmine in the cartoon was still feisty and ballsy without making women look pathetic - why did they have to change it?

Ugh. I'm not even going to attempt the Lion King...

I agree. I have no plans to see remakes of movies that don't need to be remade, and it's almost as if when they do remake things and change the character to a different race or gender, and if people don't love that right off the bat, it gives them a reason to claim the world is crawling with racists and sexists. I also think (even though I am in the LGBT community by default now) that pandering to that community by making formerly straight characters gay or trans is... well, it's just cringe. I have zero interest in seeing myself "represented", I wanna watch a movie to escape what my life is! Not see it on the screen. Make an original gay character, don't mess with existing characters or try to shoehorn them into a previous IP to try to prove that the world isn't accepting or to try to force people to accept. It only makes people annoyed and feel like everything they are fans of is being hijacked and manipulated. Are they really so short of ideas they can't make some new ones to represent other demographics?

But what I really wish is that they would just concentrate on making some good original content in Hollywood and stop worrying about race, gender and sexuality. So tired of them going on about it.
