It's a cheap and lousy way to get attention for a movie. At least when Japan does remake our movies, they actually changed the names to Japanese rather then keep the English ones.

I'm both sick of seeing him in everything, and just some of the ways he treats his fans and his fans in general irks me too much.

I don't mind seeing Cumberbatch everywhere (all that much) because it gives the rest of us... homely folk some hope for a chance at stardom (without having to go into politics, I mean).

I don't particularly care for SJ, so I probably won't see this movie. As for a white woman playing the Major...I don't mind. It's an adaptation, I didn't care when they changed Johnny Storm's ethnicity.

I already didn't care much for Dr. Who, and now this just makes me care less.

Anime needs to do this as well. They're better than the movie industry gives them credit for (which isn't saying much, but still).

I know there will be a legion of people who will defend this to high heaven anyway because it's Scarlett Johansson, and I can bet money on most of them never having seen Ghost in the Shell: SOC, read the manga or at least seen the original ova. For f*** sake, has anyone mentioned Rinko Kikuchi yet?

I wasn't planning to watch the movie anyway, there is plenty of anime made so I don't really crave for a live-action adaptation in Hollywood style. With a seriously overused bait of an actress.

To me it doesn't matter if they cast Scarlett Johansson as Major. What bothers me is that fact they only care for looks and not the acting. I couldn't care if the had cast an Asian actresses either. As long as they get Motoko Kusanagi's personality down and the rest of the GITS team down as well, I'm good. I want a coherent story, good action scenes and special effects.

Changing a character's ethnicity dose not make a bad movie. Making a bad movie makes a bad movie. Just sayn'.

i understand why they won't cast an asian for the main role, but ken watanabe has always been around in hollywood for supporting roles and they didn't cast him, made me think this is a not a big budget movie type, more if you see the rest of the official casts.. why even bother making this..

with one big name put an as an actress, it won't be as much loss.. studios had more loss before.. but just look at the director and writers, i'm seriously not convinced, won't be more than generic agent action flick with sci fi setting to it, altho i do hope i'm wrong..

i'm hoping to get a ghost in the shell innocence by mamoru oshii tone to it, or at least something like remember me game
