Looking at other rip offs doesn't give you idea whether it's a rip off Bleach or not.That's pretty much my constand fear when I design a character. What if it's been done bofore? What if people think it's a rip-off??!
But not everyone might be aware of it. And you said before that Hollow Vergil does not necessarily have to be a Bleach rip-off, so looking at examples of other might-or-might-not-be rip-offs kinda illustrates that point, doesn't it?
You'd need to know who designed HollowVergil or came up with idea, then do research on what nationalty he or she is.
Or even try to find stuff relating to Hollows in British culture since NT is a british studio.
Looking at other rip offs isnt really the solution. As rip offs can be very obvious or they can be subtle.

God I am exactly the same when I'm writing original material. I try to keep it original, but every once and while I just go "wait! that's too much like that show! AAAAH!" and change things around. Even down to what I visualise a character in my mind, I'm like this. :lol:That's pretty much my constand fear when I design a character. What if it's been done bofore? It might not be the solution to the problem - I never said it was - but it does illustrate the point that Hollow Virgil does not necessarily have to be a rip-off, with the reasoning that things like that happened before.
And if a rip-off would be subtle, I don't think it would be labeled as a rip-off, but as an inspiration.
Yeah, it just makes you crazy, doesn't it? >_<

But mypoint was: subtle rip offs are hard to find out if its a rip off or not.
I dont think Dante character is a rip off from Inuyasha because Dante was Cobra and Blade combined.
Plus Dante's white hair = japanese folklore white hair represented supernatural i.e meant u were possesed by a demon.
But i think Vergil in DMC 3 was kinda rip off from Inuyasha
+ Rebellion
+ Yamato
And some other things.

No, you misunderstood. What I was trying to say is that, the images Acorn posted were examples of characters that might seem like a rip-off at first, but might in not really be rip-offs, but just character desings that are coincidally very similar.
So if we assume that these character desingns were in deed not rip-off, but just coincidences, we can also assume that this might be the same case with Hollow Vergil.
About subtle rip-offs: Ah, ok, if that's your definition of subtle and obvious rip-off, I understand what you mean :3

white hair = japanese folklore
red clothes = Kamiya wanted him to be flashy
Half demon = Blade is half vampire so wasnt a rip off from Blade's hybrid
But again i have little to contribute to such things as i havent watched or read Cobra manga.
