will DmC sell well?

You quoted wrong. He said simply "I don't care". Again, stop padding it. He was asked how he felt about the hate coming his way. He shouldn't care or be concerned at that point. It was so early in development. I mean have you read the article? It was told from the point of view of a guy who went to interview him. The interviewer said himself that he saw Tameem walk up to him extend a hand to greet him to break the initial silence and he refused to shake his hand immediately instead throwing a very upfront and uncomfortable question at him... "What do you think about the fan reaction?"

It was before Enslaved had even come out. At that point, anything is possible. Note, there was nothing else about what he may have followed that statement up with. It just ended on "I don't care" They expected negative backlash and it didn't bother him. That is all it meant.

*sigh*

It seems you have no idea how the market works in the real world.

Your basically saying it is ok to **** off your consumers?

That you should state your opinion at the cost of taking a blow to your market?

That just does not make since.

Sometimes in life you have to swallow some crap whether you like to or not. I applaud him for having the balls to say what he feels but that is just not the right thing to do from a business standpoint to your fanbase.

It's not right to call Dante uncool from any standpoint. Tameem said that Dante is 12 years old, and that things from 12 years ago or Dante himself is not cool.

But DmC Dante inspired by punk movement (1970s - 40 years old).

If your fan-base is full of immature, narrow-minded, hateful, angry, ungrateful majority, it should not. But, the truth is- You should NEVER pander to the negative or hateful even for money.

I understand the dislike for the GAME. I always have and agree with some of it, yes. But, my hate is NEVER directed at people or my fellow fans, that includes you, my friend. I've known about Tameem and Ninja Theory for years and what this whole thing is doing to a very talented developers, and a very passionate fan-base's reputation, is ugly. I don't think they'll be the same after this is done and frankly, I'm rooting for them.

I'm rooting for them.

The discussion will go no where then.

No matter what I say you will adhere to the belief that it is ok for NT to be mean to the fans because "they are being mean to us".

That in itself sounds childish to me.

The MATURE thing would be to rise above the hate not create more with a "I don't care" attitude.

It's not wrong to call Dante uncool either. The truth is, geek culture and a lot of things that the general public find cool clash. Tameem gets his inspiration from past themes and timeless cultural statements, not trends such as those from the Matrix/blade era of which I'm sure he was referring to. The 'trench coat mafia' look, you know.

That's what my point was.
Ignoring the hate IS like an I don't care attitude in itself. It's not the hate he should care or be concerned about. It is the game itself.

Wishing someone to succeed and hoping they do isnt the same as being blinded by a desire for them to achieve what they set out to do so ignoring everything else.

Well its not exactly "ignoring" when you go out and speak on the hate you have been receiving.

What I was referring to was he should have kept his opinion to himself instead of creating more hate for himself and the game.

Don't get me wrong, he has every right to state his opinion, but I just do not think it was the right thing to say during such turmoil amongst the fans. He could have just kept quite with a "no comment" type of attitude towards the BS. instead he decided to speak on it.

Well, to be honest, how did he know that an exchange between him and this guy would end up online? He was caught in the moment and I'm sure in an interview, he never would have said it. I just wish people would look at the awesomeness and crappyness of the game itself at this point. There is a lot to talk about there.

i think... personally... there are three types of gamers ...
1. the fans that will buy this out of dedication to the franchise (and keep the game when they're finished)
2. gamers who will be interested to see if it lives up to how good/bad it is. (buy it when it's cheaper than release because they don't want to pay full money if it's rubbish)
3. The casual gamer who just wants to top up their achievements/trophies (buy it, play it, sell on)

Mind you, i think that goes for any game.

Dante strikes me as a kid of 14/15 in this new game....
The goth movement is about 25+ years old (according to some 80's magazines) and that's still around... why does a movement from the 1970's make Dante 40? Some people do find the punk movement and style cool these days.
I love the New Romantic era, doesn't make me 30 years old (i wasn't even born).

I'll be buying the game.

They've just changed characters and made the game itself better. I'll be interested to know how the story of this one turns out.

And old dante was inspired by japanese pop culture that is how many years old...........?
Besides, DmC dante dressed as he is minus the trench coat is darn cool, where i live his hair style is the in-thing right now. Local celebs have it on,the cool high/college/university guys have it on. A couple of internal soccer players have it on.

Let me explain something:

Tameem and many others said Dante needed a update. And Tameem said Dante is no longer cool because things from 12 years ago no longer is cool. He goes then and makes a new character (not a updated Dante from DMC), and the inspiration comes from around 40 years old Punk movement.

He disrespected DMC Dante.

They never said in beginning which Dante they were talking off. Everyone's perception of who the man named Dante is the same guy as DMC. And Even Tameem and Alex Jones talked about "Dante" and agreed to that he needed a update as in THE SAME GUY FROM DMC.
Tameem did not interupt the interviewer or "game reporter" and say "No, this is not the same Dante. It's a new Dante." Because how can you update DMC Dante when DmC Dante is not DMC Dante? And there is many things that are old and still cool, but why is it that Punk movement is cool but the things DMC Dante was made of is not?

Tameem disrespected DMC Dante.

I am not saying it's wrong to make a Dante that's inspired by Punk movement. I am saying that he said crap about DMC Dante when it is not true. The only thing that's not cool is cheesey lines or a character trying to be cool which is why DMC 4 Dante wasn't a great DAnte.

But DMC 1 Dante is very cool. And a disrespectful piece of garbage isn't the person to decide if he's cool or not. We decide.

um "we" don't decide, the people who create decide what they will allow us to buy...they give us options and THEN we decide....they provide the limits and we do everything else...they decide the cool, and we buy...but it's not even about that...DMC Dante would NOT fit in the world they created for the story and gameplay....and you're STILL complaining about something that doesn't matter and is not going to change.

Listen to me as i repeat your words:
DMC Dante would not fit in DmC world.

It is not me who are complaining, i am telling you a fact. Your complaining about threads like this yet there is tons threads to discuss the game. And funny enough your in this thread...
Why? I thought you wanted to discuss the game? This thread discusses it's sales.

Guess what your contribution is? "It will sell well".

Ok let me try the same thing as you "It will sell bad".

See what i did?

Anyhow go discuss the main parts of the game in the MANY threads if you like. Noone is forcing you to come in here. And when you decide to come in here you complain about us discussing sales.

All I see is alot of butthurt. If I wanted that, I would have stayed in the Capcom forums.
Please people, stay mature and be nice. I didn't come to this forum to see another massacre of fanboyism and biased opinions collide into a massive apocalypse that will ultimately destroy common decency and politeness, respect for your fellow man and his point of view. Please. Pretty please. With sugarcubes and frosting on top.

well considering the completely divided fanbase I don't think it will
Fanbase?
Who cares about fanbase....if Nt cared about fanbase in the first place they would just continue old canon and make DMC5.
They didn't make much profit with fanbase.
It is obvious that they want to attract new fans.
Fans aren't the only people who will buy this game.

I still can't make conclusion whether it will sell well or not, nor will I make any conclusion until game comes out.
