Non taken, I mean I don't particularly like Nero but that's mainly because I compare him to Dante... I think they should do a Buffy - Angel senario. Give Nero his own series but leave DMC to us Dante lovers :D That way, Nero fans can't complai either... DMC Series - Dante, Deadly Fortune Series - Nero... Ohh I like hehe

Well I think 3 games in a Deadly Fortune spin off series would be great... fully flesh out Nero and all that stuff... Dante has plenty of more story potential for the core Devil May Cry series :D Settled LOL :D

the answer to this is obvious

ok,nero is cool but dante is dante the ultimate devil hunter. the heroic son of sparda. how can anyone be confused about that. (btw virgil is the coolest why is no one talking about a virgil only game?)

So many people knocking Nero. I agree with Dread. Nero deserves a good game all to himself in DMC5. Unless, of course, CAPCOM makes a spin-off series. But that's a very unlikely scenario. Why make two games about two characters in the same universe, when it would cost less money to make one game about two characters in one universe? I don't think CAPCOM'd be willing to shove out enough money to make a spin-off series for Nero so people would be happy.

The best thing I can see them doing is introducing character campaigns, instead of jumbling missions up. Do, say...15-20 mission campaign for Dante and do the same thing for Nero...and whatever other characters you want in the game.

But, personally...as stated above, I wouldn't mind seeing Nero in a game all to himself. I love his fighting style. Someone said it was slow...but it's a change from the normal, lighting fast, fifty strikes to kill one damn thing, fighting. I like popping out a couple of heavy combos to kick the hell out of whatever I'm fighting. Plus, Nero being such a mysterious (or cheap, for those that prefer the term) character is pretty cool, because you get to learn things with the character, as you go. Even he doesn't know a whole lot.

Sorry to say...but Nero = Bomb diggity.

just a question to get a different opinion... DreadDT... what do you dislike about Dante? I just want your opinion on him? We all bash on Nero so it's only fair u give ur opinion on Dante :D

:lol: Just the title of this thread had me laughing my head off. DT, you can't be serious? Do you have a personal vandetta against Dante or something?

I agree with Sparda (:O lol) Dante's role in the series has an enormous amount of potential. The possibilities are infinite if you really think about it, because there's as much mystery revolving around him as there is around the legendary Sparda himself. I won't go into it to stop myself from kicking the thread off topic, but there IS a lot of room for expansion regarding Dante.

Why does Dante deserve the spotlight?
Here's a list:

-Royal Guard
-Trickster
-Swordmaster
-Gunslinger
-Rebellion
-Gilgamesh
-Lucifer
-Pandora
-Ebony&Ivory
-Coyote-A
-DARK SLAYER (hell yeah!)

Why does Nero not deserve the spotlight?
-Red Queen
-Blue Rose
-Devil Bringer
-Yamato (which doesn't make him any better since Dante still owned him, Yamato and all)

:| Dante can rock out way more combos than Nero and his motorbike sword. This is just going on the gameplay itself.

I won't say that Dante matters because he's been the protagonist for most of the series, but I WILL say he matters because he's the only remaining SON OF SPARDA. Yeah, okay, so Nero is a descendent of Sparda. Big whoop - so he's like a watered down version of Vergil. Dante owned Vergil too, if I remember right ;)

Nero won't pull off being the 'new face' of DMC unless they make him super cool to play in the next installment. Like VB said, Nero is pretty slowed up to play, and to me he's pretty boring. It's all a one-track fight style with him - I don't know, maybe I just like stringing together multiple combos with different weapons and styles and whatnot. Point is, Nero was good in DMC4, but he's not good enough to take over the series. Did he defeat Dante? >_< There you go.

As you said with Dante, you either hate him or love him, the same applies to Nero. You either love Nero's sappyness and his continuous 'slamdunk!' and his snail-paced combos, or you hate it.

My opinion is new characters are something fresh to analyze for experienced player and if they don't like the storyline of the new player or he looks a bit different than the main character they don't like it (as i remember many people on MGS2 said that Raiden is g@y).

As we take Dante for an example he's just a perfect icon for Devil May Cry since he was planned out on more perfect design Clothings, behaviour, appearance. I didin't really play DMC4 so i can't really go on either side, but a new character at a game is like a new computer on your house or windows for that matter :D

That's a good point, new characters do contribute to a game. DMC would get old real quick if it was just Dante all the time. For me, Nero's storyline made a lot more sense than Dante's cryptic one, and he's actually really good looking. It's just his personality that gets a bit much for me, but Dante's weapons and gameplay outweighs Nero's. If they wanted to make Nero the new protagonist, then they should have made him better, and they should have made it clear in the game itself by having Nero pulverize Dante.
Nero is good for a cameo-character, but I wouldn't buy a game where he's the sole playable character.

Here Here!!! LOL

Dante should have died with Trish on Mallet island. The only 2 good games he has been in (story wise)were DMC1 and 3. Now thats easy for me to say because I only liked him in one but Nero is closer to that Dante than Capcom will ever dare to him so obviously I agree.

Dante can be a playable character in BP or something but thats it. Nero all the way Dante has lost everything I ever liked about him in both character and gameplay so as far as I am concerned he can go bike into a black hole and never come back. Unless some serious changes are made, he is already dead to me.

:D:D:D:D:D:D The man has a good point actually. In every game i see Dante has a new person actually. And some people like when a person stays the same. Im saying that Dante has already Grown up and all and he shouldn't come up in every game with a new face, hairstyle and character. But Capcom makes the storyline jump too far at instant. You know what i mean, the thing that i liked about anime was that it was the same time around after DMC1 but even there Dante's character differs.

Hmm I see your point but you can kinda put it down to time
-Dmc3 Dante was young and VERY C0cky - fair enough coz of his age
-Dmc1 Dante is still c0cky but gets serious due to Mundus & his mother brought to mind
-Dmc4 Dante is Dmc3 Dante... just older and having fun - kind of a holiday mission
-Dmc2 Dante - mistake!

I see some similarities between 3 and 4 too. Perhaps because it's of Reubens voice? Now take in mind to this paradox. Dmc3-c0cky Dmc4-c0cky Dmc1-i wouldn't call that trashtalking that he did in game. More like being a smart a$$. dmc2 shows that he like kinda lost his voice or got a trauma :D

Dmc3-Dmc1-anime-Dmc4.

What im saying is this paradox makes a switch of personality to Dante looking like he had Bipolar (mental) disorder.

^Yup,that was kind of strange, but usually when an anime adaption of the game is done, many things change. But the biggest factor missing there was the actual Capcom staff. The fact they made it cannon isn't bad,yet the place they put it in the timeline practically made a mess of Dante. Also DMC2 was produced by a completely different team than any of the rest DMC's so it was destined to be different.Byt mistakes are made no need to be uptight about it.Who knows maybe it will be like the "missing MGS" that was made without Kojima and without him knowing anything[and that actually hapenned].Maybe[and i hope so] that some explanation will be given and [if possible] a remake of 2,in any form, just to make Dante's persona normal[The anime would still be a paradox, but what the hell. There are more messed up things in conitnuities.*hint : Phantom by Nitro+ made into anime.Worst original anime ending EVER!*].

And for an honest answer to Dread and anyone who has that question :

Ι believe that the best to be done now is for Capcom to follow their route[incidentally the same one Konami took for MGS],that is make games focusing on the main character[DMC 1,2,3] have one game to show another character[DMC4] and have a prequel game about how all this started[future DMC game?] and then return back to the main character and "finish" his story. Then side-character exclusive games will be made, cause probably the producers and maybe even the fans would want them.

My four coins.

^That won't happen.MGS was supposed to be Snake's story until his death[anyone who wants spoilers about the ending pm me],his whole life.Dante's story revolves around other things and besides, when was Sparda old?Probably Dante won't age more than that.

You know i am tired of this kind of talking. This character is better than that and all that ***** talk.

There is no way people can compare Dante with Nero. because people who do that are saying that "i can compare cars with motorcycles." which is clearly impossible. sure both of them do the same thing which is help you to travel fast. but you still cannot compare them. because the stories are diffrent and the deamons are diffrent. we can compare them if and only if the two characters are in the same story and they fight the same deamons. just like Resident evil 1 and 2.

Of course they can be compared. We're talking about spotlight position here, son. If Nero is going to take over the series as the sole and main protagonist, we must compare If he's up for It.

So far, he's not. Let him have his own spin-off series. Devil May Cry is a big name for him to carry all along.
