Make his power scaling more realistic, he is quarter demon. He should be super human, but nowhere near the level of his uncle and father. By putting him near them, he has no threats facing him in the future. By making him a bit weaker, it adds urgency and tension to battles against extremely powerful foes.

He should be around nelo angelo and dmc1 dante without sparda dt in power, or just under to make more sense.

I agree and i'd give him other abilities to compensate for his lack of pure strength/speed.

similar to Atreus from God Of War. He's not as strong as his dad but is more agile, can use magic and shapeshift.

People complain about his early moments in 5.

I don't mind him being emotional in the beginning of 5 but I'd prefer him to be more cruel as a character. He lost an arm recently so he shouldn't be a nice guy. Having him be more vicious in a fight and desperate to win would be more fitting.

Nero just being his normal tryhard self was a weak choice for this game.

this change also helps focus on his similarities to Vergil. His lost arm could make Nero desperate for more power in order to protect Nico, Kyrie and the orphans in his care. So Nero nagging Nico about better devil breakers and hoarding artifacts would be small touches that would help sell this dynamic.

I do think it was a huge missed opportunity not to have started the story with Nero getting the Devil Bringer. It was such a weird choice to have it only mentioned second hand as it is so pivotal to his character.

I have been watching the anime "DanDaDan" lately and I think it would have been much better to have started with Nero getting injured in the demon attack on Fortuna, and the tutorial is him during his recovery phase learning how to control the Devil Bringer rather than trying to fight a Dante who is just mucking around. Instead Dante should have been like Cerberus in DMC3 where he is the first proper challenge of the game as a test of everything you learned over the first three Missions.

I would have him be human up til the bringer incident, and be mentored by lady who keeps an eye on him for dante by infiltrating the order before trish did.

Then have dante showing up after nero gets the devil bringer, and introduce himself better rather than just killing sanctus lol.

The reason for nero and dante to fight then, could be dante being cryptic and not giving nero on his origins. Then have him join dante lady and trish and bring kyrie with him to redgrave city.

This way he can come into his own as a warrior, and maybe by seeing the realities of that city he may grow into someone more akin to dante from DMC1

I agree. It's why I became fond of using the anime as a Nero centered story instead of Dante.

Nero has a ton of problems design wise but Fortuna is not one of them.

Lady is a better choice for infiltrating the order than Trish. Plus she can teach Nero how to use guns and push back against his selfishness towards Kyrie. Nero was meant to be a character who prioritizing Kyrie's safety over everyone else's. Having Lady scold him and argue with him over that would be interesting.
