It is an interesting concept, could have the devil buster be a manifestation of the demon corruption from mundus when he was nelo angelo.

Here's one of V's concepts that looks kinda Vergil like.

You can do a spinoff with V and Urizen on seperate paths till they collide in the Qlipoth.

I can see him using his cane as a makeshift sword and he'd have his version of DmC Vergil's pull mechanic.

But having his nightmare summon start out as a gooey hand that grabs enemies and pulls them closer would be cool.

I like the finished v look, but be better if he had white hair, and it went black when he used his power.

I think nero as vergils humanity works, because that explains his arrogance and other traits.

I dont mind giving him an arc over multiple games. Letting him be a character that can mature over time. Its what 5 tried but didnt nail completely.

Anime/4/reboot would probably be a trilogy set in Fortuna. The reboot entry would deal with Fortuna rebuilding after Sanctus died.

In 4, Fortuna felt like a theocratic state so it would have some growing pains figuring out what to do next.

Nero started the anime as an outsider and he ends this entry as the champion of the people.

Might be cool to use yamato to split his demon side from him, since he is mostly human anyway.

Then maybe he would have more depth.

@Lain pitched Nero as a reincarnation of Sparda in the other thread. Id tweak it to have him be a reincarnation of Vergil instead. You could have him be a normal guy pushed into the occult in order to understand these strange memories.

it allows DMC to transition back into horror as Nero is horrified by Vergil's memories and the fact that he can't seperate himself from Vergil. Overtime they would start to meld and Nero absorbs facets of Vergil's personality.

Make him a mute, so all his traits come from actions and his facial expressions

And not him crying, it would convey his turmoil a lot more without the moaning.

Eh, nothing really. At the very least they did "angsty teen" lot better than Star Wars prequels did... LOL, talk about "damned by faint praise".

But I can't really imagine something I would really change... maybe make him more withdrawn and subdued similar to Vergil - but, I am not so sure that makes sense within the context of his upbringing and general situation.

Nero is one of the few people that "gets it". He's more of a lover then a fighter.

When older he'd be more in control and calm. Virgil's focus. With some mild humor due to dante.

He'd be a very different person. Focused. Driven. No longer wallowing at all.

The thing is we've had so many powerful enemies already. What would Nero even face? The only thing I can think of is Sparda himself. Maybe Devil May Cry 6 could have the player play as sparda while fighting Nero, Virgil and Dante after they somehow find him.

Problem: Sparda would be bound to team up with them all somehow. So what would be a threat to all of them together? It would have to be something more then just a single enemy. Imagine reality warping and shifting. Except in a big way. Friendly demons figthing against hostile order knights. Before finding common ground somehow because of this bigger threat.

It would require a very clever character to be added in the game. Someone that could be either friend or foe, or even both at once. Someone new of course. Someone that has an unseen agender. Someone willing to play high stakes and risk everything. Prepared to lose. To have nothing. The end goal only being made clear right at the very end.

It's not just about Nero himself. It's about the bigger threats that help contrast the characters. How would Nero handle such a threat?

I'd give him an accent as it seperates him from the others and plays into his roots on Fortuna.

I would actually change his hair too, he is supposed to be 3/4 human right?

So his hair should be a mix of silver and his mothers colour, or just his mothers colour. I mean V the human part of vergil, has black hair.

that works. You can have his hair shift colors between states like how the reboot did it.

ie he has red hair as a human and switches to white when he uses devil trigger.

Make his Devil Trigger like Dante's in DMC3 whenever he changes a Devil Breaker!

The devil breakers are cybernetic though, they have no demon souls and are not devil arms.

Technically, nero has no devil arms now of any kind, since vergil took back yamato.

Who wants Nero to have a Devil Arm alongside his Red Queen & Blue Rose?

Think of the Devil Arm like Agni & Rudra! Nero’s own personal talking Devil Arm he can converse with.

I'd probably give him a stronger supporting cast and a more open framework for levels.

I'm leaning more towards RPGs so doing something like the recent God of War games where you are incentivized to return to old areas etc.

Nero's other selling point is Fortuna so utilizing it better would've made 4 more appealing to me.

With hindsight, Nero feels like a weaker version of Josuke and Giorno from JOJO's bizarre adventures. Both characters have connection to existing characters but have other relationships/themes etc that you get invested in. While Nero really doesn't beyond his connection to Vergil.

I'm fine with changing his character to a more interesting template ie bringing back the upper class detective angle or making him a stoic soldier like @ef9dante_oSsshea suggested or amoral outsider like @Benny suggested.

But characters are also defined by the environments around them. Not just locations but people and relationships as well.

this isn't unique to Nero as Dante suffers this in the anime and its why I didn't like it either.
