What if DmC is a stand alone game and Capcom decides to go back to the original series?

I would be ok with it if the reason was poor sales, but if the reason was it was always meant as a stand-alone than I would be disappointed since what was the point of it than?

You could have just avoided all this controversy and debate by just cutting the cord and making a new ip like asura's wrath. Asura's wrath sales problem, if any, could be attributed to the dlc practices/QTE style combat rather than being a new ip. Change a few names and downplay some dmc references and you have a separate story and DMC combat has been a staple of the action genre since it's release so it would be no more copying it than darksiders, ninja gaiden, GOW, etc.

Or just having nt write the story of DMC5 in addition to another game project for capcom ala new ip or another rebooted ip. Most games are written by 3-4 people so it would not be difficult for them to work on both since on dmc5 they are only doing the writing so they are free to have the the rest of the company to work on it.
