What if DmC is a stand alone game and Capcom decides to go back to the original series?

Capcom's scenario writers? Sit down and WORK OUT the timeline to a coherent fashion beyond giving bare time frames between events? I think you overestimate their ability to care about the storyline, sadly. Isn't that the entire reason they hired NT, was because they realize they didn't have the ability to work out the complexity of the story they had on their hands and were best focusing on gameplay mechanics?

Oh, it's very possible to rectify the horrible story timeline they've created. They just actually have to sit down and really think about it.
exactly. They basically dug their own grave by not making the storyline consistent. If Capcom decides to listen to their fans, and create a game about Sparda, they would've created the grave even deeper.

They should really just hire me. I guess I am a professional writer now, and as an avid fan of the series and of the things DMC is known for, I could totally help them get themselves out of the weird hole they dug :p

So let's here your plot summary for DMC5. :)

So let's here your plot summary for DMC5. :)

I think I've mentioned it before, and I don't have too much in my head right now, other than some basic points, but here goes...

DMC5 should be a total nod to the series as a whole, and possibly the best way to let it go out with a bang. It should have two full sides, a la DMC2 (not DMC4). According to Bingo's novelization of DMC4, after the events of the game, Nero started his own Devil May Cry to hunt for demons, but DMC5 should focus on actually telling us about Nero's origins, and thus most of Nero's side should comprise him searching for information on his origins, and ultimately learning how he's connected to Sparda. In the process of this, he would learn of inklings that the demon king Mundus is mounting a revival in Hell, which he learns of because he holds the true key to the demon world; Yamato, which demons have begun to seek out. This is all happening around the time that Dante is fighting Arius's forces in DMC2. Requiring some much needed help, Nero seeks out Dante, only to find Lucia waiting for his return, and here, Nero learns that Dante hasn't been seen for a while after he went to Hell - Nero knows what he's going to have to do...

On Dante's side, we've last seen him in DMC2's ending driving around Hell in a motorcycle, popping sweet wheelies into the sunset. Stuck in Hell, he's forced to fight off the demons that are still around, and in the process he is shown much of his past. The demons will pull at his memories, showing him things that players haven't known about, fleshing out Dante's character more, and even trying to explain his shift in mood between DMC4 and DMC2. Levels will be comprised of new places, as well as some old favorites as nods to his past exploits, like portions of Temen-ni-Gru and the castle on Mallet Island. We'll also get to hear more about a shifting leadership among the forces of Hell, as some demons who were sympathetic to Sparda have finally been able to stand up since Mundus was no longer around to silence them. So, Dante's story is comprised of his memories, learning more about himself, Sparda's legacy, and helping a sympathetic demon army rise against Mundus' remaining forces that are attempting to revive him. It ends up sort of like a reversal on the war for the throne we all know that got Lucifer and his followers cast out of heaven.

In the end, both sides culminate in Nero using Yamato's power to break open a seal to Hell, arriving fashionably on time to help Dante in the main assault against Mundus' forces. In the end, we've got Dante and Nero fighting against the newly revived Mundus, putting him down for good, and ending the series on a high note, where we know everything, and people can go out knowing they just experienced one of the craziest DMCs ever, and then go even crazier in Bloody Palace as Dante or Nero, or both in a co-op mode.

Gameplay features...I haven't thought of yet, but ChaserTech had some great ideas on that front :P I do think they should keep something similar to DmC for some of the controls, which...is really just making Dante play a little more like Nero, so that Aerial Rave and such are all on the same button :P

Actually, Alex Jones already announced the DmC sequel. He said that the end of game is gonna be intriguing.

More satisfying plot than 3 and 4 combined (though I did like 3's plot, it was almost intentionally incoherent in alot of places for the sake of mystery.)

Also don't forget Trish! Been wanting to play as her again for the longest time, and something needs to be done about her in any case. In DMC4 it was like she was doing all she could just to be relevant.

Yeah, of course. Nero would go around gathering up all of Dante's old harem and drag them to Hell with him :P

"What are you doing here, kid?" Dante asked. He lost his train of thought as Trish, Lady, and Lucia came out from behind Nero. "Nevermind, but I'm glad you deliver..."

I like the idea maybe possibly throw in a playthrough with Vergil??? Like Trish in DMC 2 being able to play either side?

I love this! Throw in a playable Vergil and Trish (Vergil for Nero's side and Trish for Dante's side), then I'm all good. ^^

Yeah, a playable Vergil skin might be nice, but he couldn't be part of the story, since the guy is sadly resting in peace :P

And I just had a great idea for the "announcement trailer," where a guy with white, slicked back hair and a dark blue coat is following some guy as he runs away. The guy realizes he's cornered, and turns into a demon, but the white-haired man lets out the Devil Bringer and pulls it close, smashing it into things. The two fight and the Yamato appears out of the Devil Bringer's hand and the man slices up the demon's arms and legs. Then he grabs demon by the neck and pushes it into a wall, finally asking in Nero's angry growl "Where...is Dante...?" BAM cue Devil May Cry 5 titled card.

You should post this for some Capcom guys. Or Capcom and Platinum Games (the creators of DMC1). How awesome would it be if those companies worked together to give us the last true Devil May Cry, making Nero more demonic and epic, and actually crafting a decent story with stylish cutscenes and the gameplay we all know and love?

I love your idea for DMC5, and damn would this be an epic announcement trailer!

Vergil's dead??

Come to think of it, this has plot alot of what I'd want to see.

--Dante and Nero not being the only formidable force in town or Hell.

--Dante and Nero not going at the situation as loners (that kinda annoyed me too in DMC4; where it had reason in DMC3, in DMC4 we're around a populated society, yet it's as void as any other place with the exception of the demons. Also might've been cool to have a playable scene with Dante and Nero killing demons)

--The heroes in general being behind the 8-ball (Nero would've beaten Sanctus and Savior if it wasn't for using his love Interest to drop his guard, and Dante apparently was just putzing around for Nero at the end. Heroes aren't cool just because they can nuchaku a motorcycle and put on a leather coat with overdone flair, I personally like heroes that have to persevere to their goal.)

--ANSWERS! Sweet, lovely, ANSWERS!

--A full, meaty plot in general, just from the cliffnotes. Damn, I want to play DMC4 again.

Edit: Apparently I pressed the Enter key and sent this one in before I finished it. :p

Oh, and Nero would have three different weapon types, mapped to the D-Pad (unused for Nero in DMC4) - Firearms, human weapons, and Devil Arms. He'll start the game with Blue Rose, Red Queen, and Yamato (respectively).

Firearms are firearms, and Nero needs himself a bitchin' shotgun. Human melee weapons like the Red Queen have special L2 functions, (Like Exceed), while Devil Arms are housed inside Nero's Devil Bringer, and will alter his Devil Trigger's behavior (like one that lets him fly, or move super fast, and whatever). Nero swaps between his Human weapon or Devil Arm with R2 (which was also unused in DMC4). Either that, or Devil Arms can be either melee or ranged like Artemis and such. Modify Snatch so that it has a Stinger and Hightime input, so you can essentially do the Pull and Lift from DmC, although some enemies are just too heavy to be pulled, although using the right Devil Arm while in Devil Trigger (like a Demon Fist weapon) will let you Pull and Lift to your heart's content.

Dammit, now you guys have really gotten me thinking about it. I may just have to make a whole thread for this...and there will be drawrings...oh yes, there will.

Vergil's dead??
Not exactly... it's just assumed so since you don't see him in DMC4 and DMC2... especially since Yamato was broken (symbolism I guess).
...but they could totally bring him back. For all we know, he was dragged back to hell with Mundus... or, maybe he went insane and just flew off to resolve his inner conflict.

Unless you actually see the character die, there's always a way to bring them back. Hell, even if you DO see them die, there are still plenty of ways to revive the character.
