What if DmC is a stand alone game and Capcom decides to go back to the original series?

Hell, even if you DO see them die, there are still plenty of ways to revive the character.
With Vergil in the original DMC, they could have had Agnus bring him back. Somehow that guy had Yamato and wasn't it said somewhere that he made the fake angels using Vergil's body or soul?

Not exactly... it's just assumed so since you don't see him in DMC4 and DMC2... especially since Yamato was broken (symbolism I guess).
...but they could totally bring him back. For all we know, he was dragged back to hell with Mundus... or, maybe he went insane and just flew off to resolve his inner conflict.

Unless you actually see the character die, there's always a way to bring them back. Hell, even if you DO see them die, there are still plenty of ways to revive the character.

I dunno...he sorta blew up in DMC1...

They should really just hire me. I guess I am a professional writer now, and as an avid fan of the series and of the things DMC is known for, I could totally help them get themselves out of the weird hole they dug :P

Agreed. I want in on this, as I am a writer and avid fan also.

I think the direction would probably need to be drastic for DMC5. Set it after 2 *le gasp*. I know right. The intro could be some intense, badass way that Dante finds his way out of hell, possibly with Sparda's help. This way the series could continue on from the point that people are otherwise afraid to touch.

You don't actually see him blow up though. It cuts to Dante before you can see anything. :P

He could have also charged up, and teleported away as far as he possibly could to put himself back together (mentally).

Like, yeah... you could argue that the Yamato being broken, and his disappearance after DMC1 (story-wise) would suggest his death... but you see, Vergil is just too cool to die. So any logic won't work on me here. He's just too cool (This is my argument btw).

Something definitely needs to be done about 2. While they continue to say it's a part of canon, it's like it's albeit utterly ignored.

A fine thread to make indeed for the hopes of DMC 5 -raises hands and jumps in joy- I see fine members here with great abilities to continue the story for sure. For as good time is always of the essence!

I think I've mentioned it before, and I don't have too much in my head right now, other than some basic points, but here goes...

DMC5 should be a total nod to the series as a whole, and possibly the best way to let it go out with a bang. It should have two full sides, a la DMC2 (not DMC4). According to the Bingo's novelization of DMC4, after the events of the game, Nero started his own Devil May Cry to hunt for demons, but DMC5 should focus on actually telling us about Nero's origins, and thus most of Nero's side should comprise him searching for information on his origins, and ultimately learning how he's connected to Sparda. In the process of this, he would learn of inklings that the demon king Mundus is mounting a revival in Hell, which her learns of because he holds the true key to the demon world; Yamato, which demons have begun to seek out. This is all happening around the time that Dante is fighting Arius's forces in DMC2. Requiring some much needed help, Nero seeks out Dante, only to find Lucia waiting for his return, and here, Nero learns that Dante hasn't been seen for a while after he went to Hell - Nero knows what he's going to have to do...

On Dante's side, we've last seen him in DMC2's ending driving around Hell in a motorcycle, popping sweet wheelies into the sunset. Stuck in Hell, he's forced to fight off the demons that are still around, and in the process he is shown much of his past. The demons will pull at his memories, showing him things that players haven't known about, fleshing out Dante's character more, and even trying to explain his shift in mood between DMC4 and DMC2. Levels will be comprised of new places, as well as some old favorites as nods to his past exploits, like portions of Temen-ni-Gru and the castle on Mallet Island. We'll also get to hear more about a shifting leadership among the forces of Hell, as some demons who were sympathetic to Sparda have finally been able to stand up since Mundus was no longer around to silence them. So, Dante's story is comprised of his memories, learning more about himself, Sparda's legacy, and helping a sympathetic demon army rise against Mundus' remaining forces that are attempting to revive him. It ends up sort of like a reversal on the war for the throne we all know that got Lucifer and his followers cast out of heaven.

In the end, both sides culminate in Nero using Yamato's power to break open a seal to Hell, arriving fashionably on time to help Dante in the main assault against Mundus' forces. In the end, we've got Dante and Nero fighting against the newly revived Mundus, putting him down for good, and ending the series on a high note, where we know everything, and people can go out knowing they just experienced one of the craziest DMCs ever, and then go even crazier in Bloody Palace as Dante or Nero, or both in a co-op mode.

Gameplay features...I haven't thought of yet, but ChaserTech had some great ideas on that front :p I do think they should keep something similar to DmC for some of the controls, which...is really just making Dante play a little more like Nero, so that Aerial Rave and such are all on the same button :p
Bravo! This is good enough to be a dmc movie than a game.

Eh, canonically, he's dead, per DMC4 stating that the Angelo Bianco were creating using fragments of the Dark Angel, Broken Yamato, and the recap info that referred to Nero Angelo as "the trapped soul Dante's departed brother"...which means he was already dead when he was Nero Angelo...

Even dead the soul remains!

Wait, what? If Dante is in hell, where is Vergil, Florida? He had too be on hell too, right? They can run onto each other, and Vergil becomes Danye's guide, like Dante's Inferno.

Yep, and that soul has been torn into pieces by the Order. there was a piece put into this Knight, a piece into that knight, probably a good sized chunk put into Credo....Vergil's over the place now!

Forget about gameplay sitting. Man overall game experience is what counts. The graphics I do not regognize with CAPCOM. Neither does the story, plot, atmosphere. It is so off. Ninja Theory might have done a good job in the gameplay but hey now I don't play Dmc games only for gameplay. Look at DMC4. First times I played it I did it purely for story and empathy for Nero and Kyrie as well as Dante and Credo. Now after playing it hundreds of times. I am getting tired of the story. At least I know too well the story plot. Bloody Palace is all in for gameplay and SSS for selfconfidence. Game consist of 3 main things:
story, atmosphere and gameplay. Story takes the characters involvements in a universe. Atmosphere is made by soundtracks and type of graphical animation. Gameplay stimulates those two. As I see it Ninja Theory can only jump to option three without caring or knowing how to make
a real dmc experience.

TA, you forgot to pull out some bullshit excuse to bring Vergil back. Seriously, this has to be done, doesn't matter how much it'll hurt the story. I NEED MORE POWER!

But maybe a Bloody Palace Reunion could work. DMC 3 Dante, DMC 4 Dante, DMC 5 Dante, Donte, Vergil, DmC Vergil, Trish, Lucia and Nero all playable in the best extra content ever made. Hell, I'd pay 60 dollars for that.

Fixed that for ya. And yeah, damn, I'd pay good money for that game. Friggin DMC version of Smash brothers...

What, you don't like Donte? Has a nice ring to it

His name is Dante, calling him Donte's is just acting like he's a cheap imitation instead of being the alternate take on the character that he is.

It's just because some people got really mad at another user for calling him "alternate guy", so I'm gonna call him Donte now and haters gonna hate.

In fact I like him more than the old one, but who ****ing cares how people call him? He's not offended.

Let's not get into this name bullshit again, for the love of all that is holy and just.

I thought about it, but...god...I really can't bring myself to do something like that. There's this whole idea that the soul is what really matters, and since Vergil's soul was 'sploded and torn apart, I don't think it's really possible to come back from that. I understand the love for Vergil and all, but I'm a firm believer in letting the dead rest, because a lot of what people love about Vergil is the mystery and things they made up in their own minds. Bringing him back to life would just sh*t on all of that, and even bringing him back for a small cameo would ruin some of the narrative being told >.<

I'm all for have several different characters to use in the Bloody Palace, though. I'm not sure I'd want a Vergil replacement for Nero the way it was done in DMC3 SE, because the game was made for a specific character's set-up. You can see how awkward it was when you had to do things as Dante, all of these guys that were built with Nero and his Devil Bringer in mind.

Didn't Capcom retcon the **** out of MM? Why not retcon Vergil's death? etc etc.

If you mean continuing the Megaman X series by NOT having Zero die anyways... Well, Zero is a robot, he can be fixed.
Vergil could be resurrected though, so I would rather have that than just pretending he didn't die anyways.
