The ability to possess demons bodies to fight with until they are killed would be cool, maybe something vergil could do if he was able to control splitting into V at will

multiple playable characters from the start. I dont mind shorter campaigns in order to compensate.

Nero battling evil Devil Hunters & Huntresses that "Angel Trigger" like with Credo & Agnus.

Different animal species.

Two side campaign like DMC2, but with different locations and map areas. Different bosses and cutscenes too. That way we can get the sparda twins with their own campaign, and nero with his.

Nero is one of the few people that "gets it". He's more of a lover then a fighter.

When older he'd be more in control and calm. Virgil's focus. With some mild humor due to dante.

He'd be a very different person. Focused. Driven. No longer wallowing at all.

The thing is we've had so many powerful enemies already. What would Nero even face? The only thing I can think of is Sparda himself. Maybe Devil May Cry 6 could have the player play as sparda while fighting Nero, Virgil and Dante after they somehow find him.

Problem: Sparda would be bound to team up with them all somehow. So what would be a threat to all of them together? It would have to be something more then just a single enemy. Imagine reality warping and shifting. Except in a big way. Friendly demons figthing against hostile order knights. Before finding common ground somehow because of this bigger threat.

It would require a very clever character to be added in the game. Someone that could be either friend or foe, or even both at once. Someone new of course. Someone that has an unseen agender. Someone willing to play high stakes and risk everything. Prepared to lose. To have nothing. The end goal only being made clear right at the very end.

It's not just about Nero himself. It's about the bigger threats that help contrast the characters. How would Nero handle such a threat?
@Taramfor's post felt better suited for here.

Angels as an enemy faction.
It would make sense too. The order might have lost a leader, but others will step up to take their place.

Friendly demons fighting with the player. That would make things interesting. Big open war battlefields.

Except it would then get more complicated. Angels are basically using demons already. So it could further devide into different factions with angels and demons on different sides fighting each other.

I want to see more "big ideal talks" too. Dante's a **** listener. When is he going to learn to stop deciding better for others when he can't ask?

This game is proof of what I'm talking about. People don't even ask. Virgil has a better idea. He'd even ask Arkham.

Sparda has to be met at some point too. Just because he "Fell off the radar" and people "say" he's dead doesn't mean it's true. Even if it is this is magic and ****. What's stopping him coming back from hell? At some point he's going to be in Devil May Cry. 3 hints at it. His own image.

So the question is this. When the player finally meets Sparda (come on Devs. Make it DMC6), what is he going to be like? From the images we have, and the history we know, it's clear he's the confident/bold type. I can see Sparda being jaded and on edge at first. Due to constant fighting. Being seperated from his sons.

Would like to play as Sparda too. Fighting against the sons at first. Maybe Nero. Before joining up with them in a much bigger war. Imagine friendly demons fighting other demons and angels. Bigger numbers. ALL the characters can be fighting in the same battle. Dante, Virgil, Nero and Sparda. Perhaps being able to swap between them mid mission.

I can see that working. Just don't aim for the best graphics. Keep it focused on gameplay over graphics. And that can work.

I wondered if Dante or Vergil ever looked for their father when they were younger.

Their time in hell could be another attempt. But is the Sparda they stumble upon the real deal or an imposter?

Pain of loss due to the death of their mother likely caused them to be conflicted. Finding sparda's sword is that attempt to find a link to Sparda too. DMC3 for example.

They both miss their dad. Dante was just in denial about it when he said he didn't have a father. It's because the painful memories haunt him. Maybe they both feel like Sparda failed their mother.

I can see it now, Sparda being wrecked with guilt and grief. It's perfect for bringing him into the next game. We've had Nero and Virgil resolved. So Devil May Cry 6 is perfect for bringing in Sparda.

... Whenever that comes out. See you in 10 years?

My biggest fear is that the rebuilding of the town shown in the epilogue of 5 will give licence to 6 in order to ignore the ramifications of an apocalyptic event that just happened and have life go on as normal with the rest of the human race respawning in casually.

I know that DMC likes to be self contained for the most part in each game, but continuity is also important and the events of 5 offer such fertile ground to develop the world beyond just being a hollow set for game stages.

The ability for dante to combine more weapons like devil sword dante, so he can combine and dual wielded devil arms together into one super version and then split them again.

A dragon boss. That ends up not being just an enemy. Some sort of hellfire dragon that ends up helping the player after beating it somehow.
