I remember when my first pet died - it was a Russian hamster and it lived for all of three weeks before dying. I think I cried for about two days straight until my dad couldn't stand the noise anymore and bought me another one. Which died the next day. We stopped having hamsters for a long time after that.

When I lost Eddie Tenpole (my goldfish), I only had him for 11 days. I cried (sad isn't it). Having a pet for 11 days made me feel useless.
But the worst loss that I suffered was Tom, over three years ago. I loved that kitty. He was my most favorite thing in the world.

But I have Tilly now, and what i do, I do for her. She's my best friend.

On the subject of pets dying... I've had the unfortunate luck to see my cat, Shyla, and one of my dogs, Askem, die. Shyla died of disease, Askem of a broken back. It seems that all the pets that don't like me die, but I grieved for them all the same. It's why I give my dog Ella and my snake Fuji the best care I can. I want them to live to be old, and live happy.

Whereas I had the opposite problem whereby Steve's ancient evil dog just WOULD NOT DIE. She was made of adamantium, I'm sure of it. Got her put down in the end but until then she was an unholy terror reigning in our house, biting the children and covering the walls with whatever was hurled out of her ears every time she shook her head. She peed in my shoes, vomited on my side of the bed and crapped all over the kitchen but Steve refused to get rid of her for the longest time...

Wow and i times, I thought tom was evil.
I remember once. Mum was in bed for a week with Sciatica. He peed on her just to get her out of bed...
