Here's my theory. The sun is hot, right? Like ridiculously hot. So, what happens is the sky starts to sweat because it's too hot. And that's where the 'rain' comes from.

And no, Zach, speaking into cupped hands to try do a cheap voice trick doesn't work. It doesn't sound creepy, or effective. It just sounds like you're speaking into cupped hands. I mean dude, come on.
Also, it's a silent "e". It's not pronounced by letter. Much confusion when mum asked about Derenvere right after I chatted to her about it. Derenvere as in Denver with an extra r, ma. But. Ugh. Whatever. I'll just change it to Drenver I guess. Simplify it. If mum has issues pronouncing it correctly, other people might, too.:banghead: Stupid complex fantasy names!

I've been pronouncing it "Dare-en-vair". ^^; So it should be more of a "ver" at the end, then? (Starts reconditioning brain to pronounce it right, lol). Seriously though, I love the title. It feels the part of a fantasy novel, y'know what I mean?
CT: Of pretty much anything but dwelling on that piece of information that got dropped on us two days ago. As there is nothing we can do--from here or in person--I'm not going to obsess over it. The fact that we just found out doesn't mitigate that it's been going on for nearly a year, now. If the others can cope after knowing all this time, I'm just going to have to do the same. This **** is not going to impact my work. It's. Not.

-always pronounced it as spelled except for the last e- o_o Maybe put a pronunciation guide in the beginning of the story if it's something that really bothers you? I don't think it'll be too big of a trip up, though.

I'll take this on board and keep the spelling but do the pronunciation guide as well. Thanks guys <3 I'm just a bit concerned because I'm one of those writers who don't read my work out loud to myself (as they say you really should), and I don't want something akin to Vampire Diaries to go down in future because I didn't prep for it. XD
In hindsight, it's a bit odd that this conversation only happened now (more than a decade after first starting on the book). Up to this point mum and I just always talked about Galen, or 'the fantasy with the prince in it'.

Creating a world from scratch is basically like creating your own headcanon for a fandom. Except you have nothing to start with and you're just going with what sounds right. XP Which means everything gets weird at one point or another. -just had a two hour long discussion about how people get their food in her sci-fi story-

Very... quirky. I don't think I've ever read a character who did this. I guess it makes him a bit more authentic.
Okay. Well. Except for Julian. But he did that more as a threat/clue than banter so.... kinda the same but different.
