Like that shrink ray gun or time device I'm currently building...I've said too much, Earthlings.

Trying to figure out what the whole Guy Fawkes celebration thingies are really about. I know what he almost did, but...yeah, the reason for the current celebration stuff evades me. Anyone from the UK want to explain it?

+ My signature looks bangin' against the new background.
++ New Vergil's Yamato looks like one of my newer katanas...minus the dragonflies. @_@ Mind freak moment!

It’s the story of the failed Gunpowder plot.
Guy Fawkes along with a few other guys tried to assassinate King James I (I think :/) by using gunpowder to blow up the house of parliament. Fawkes got captured before they could destroy parliament and was tortured. I remember in school they showed us a picture of his signature before and after the torture, it always freaked me out. That was in Infant school too!

So now we make a ‘guy’ usually with old clothes stuffed full of newspaper, go around with him and pestering the neighbours for coppers then we burn the poor thing on a big bonfire. Kinda sick… I think it was to celebrate that the King didn’t get killed.

When I was younger Guy Fawkes use to be celebrated much more than Halloween but now it seems the other way around. I don’t see any bonfires anymore, even fireworks displays seem to have dwindled out :( Shame, I found that story far more frightening than any ghost stories.


This is all from memory and since I’m starting to finds a lot of things I was taught in school was wrong, it might not be completely correct ^_^

That's...actually really sad and kinda twisted. :( *wonders why so many holidays have scary histories*
*cough* Ignorant American here, but...what's a copper? *thinking of police officers*

Hehehe! Sorry XD Coppers as in money ^^ Pennies and two pence coins, you got silver if you were lucky.



I think it was more of the King being cruel and making an example of him (despite that he was already dead by this point). It's just a tradition that has died out yet.



I don’t know why he wanted to kill the King… I think it was something to do with religion. I’ll have to look it up when I come back.



It’s one of those rare days where there is sun so I’m gonna make the most of it. Tatty Bye :D (I'm never gonna get fed up of that)

That happened to our freezer a couple of days after christmas. Mum wasnt too pleased as she lost a lot of frozen food.
We now store stuff in there... (garden ornaments :3)

The King didn't like Catholics.
Fawkes and the guys behind the plot were Catholic, so they pretty much wanted payback for the way they were being treated.
(It was on Horrible Histories this morning.)

No, we just went back to our old one. It just meant that we couldn't store as much frozen food :s

Bloody hell, Nic! Every time I send you to go fix the oxygen generator you have to p*ssy out and asphyxiate before you get done fixing it! That's twice now that I've had to clone our entire crew (I.E. get a game over and restart) because you asphyxiated before you could finish fixing it and then we ALL choked to death! I knew I should've accepted that Engi onto our crew. They don't need oxygen! But nooooo, Nicodemus though it was a good idea to tell good ol' Cap'n Darigion that Engis were bad news. -_- Bloody hell.

For those of you wondering what I'm babbling about: I'm playing a sci-fi strategy/roguelike game called "FTL: Faster Than Light" and you can name your crewmembers and ship and such, so I gave them names based on my friends/characters. But yeah, the UFS (United Federation Starship) "Infiniti's Wrath" didn't last long because Nicodemus was a xenophobe. >_> And I kinda got way too into it and made a narrative of my journey. XD

I know i jus completed season two and that season three was already aired but i got to know about the series very recently. So please don't spoil anything for me.

Why are the good characters always killed? Rosemary, mason, anna and now jenna. This sucks. And i knew Elijah could not be trusted. He talks big on loyalty so it would mean that he can't be trusted as he will always turn loyal to his family if he so sees fit.I know loyalty is a big responsibility but it can really blind someone from facts that sometimes don't support loyalty. But not being loyal also sucks. I am jus caught in the middle jus as anyone who wants to decide between loyalty and facts. Think season 3 is going to be big as Klaus has broken the curse and is still alive.
