Vergil Gameplay.

If this has a section where Dante has defeated Vergil and sent him to the demon realm, perhaps the demon realm will antagonize Vergil by creating a Dante doppleganger.

Yeah! And make him battle his own shortcomings of being a more compassionate human!

I'd say if Vergil's Downfall had at least one exclusive boss, it would be fantastic. It would be really cool to see how the game's AI would make Dante fight, too, but I'd settle for something over-the-top crazy just to accommodate for Vergil's moveset.

That was another misstep with DMC3 - Vergil just being a character swap made a lot of stuff unnecessarily difficult because of his different playstyle. By making a scenario built around Vergl's gameplay, the possibilities are just...ugh...fhdsjlfhadfhjabvalwuv

I just love how he keeps his sheath in his one hand. It seems like "Oh I don't want to play with you too seriously".
Hopefully they won't add the boring moves where Vergil knock the enemy with his sheath.
BTW...the song in the trailer sounds like...

Yeah... and the fact that Vergil has the Doppleganger style is very... coincidental. It's most likely a message. Maybe he'll fight himself... before fighting Dante.

I really want to be able to fight Dante. The only place you can do so as Vergil is in MvC3.

Using the sheath as a weapons can be pretty awesome too. The sheath is pretty sturdy so it can act like a blunt edged second sword and it looked like the 3 hit combo the original Virgil used is still there.

BONK BONK SLASH! BONK BONK SLASH! BONK BONK SLASH!

...ugh...why did I just do that all holding Shift...my aversion of the Caps Lock is utterly astounding.

As for Vergil fighting Dante, I was slightly wrong about that. In DMC4, Dante has a few of Vergil's moves added to his own, so, that kind of counts, as far as dream matches go.

Oh, who am I kidding? It's just another excuse for me to post this (somewhat related) video (yet again). I can't help it though, I love the music.

Well, I'll be gone for a quite a while. See you guys then.

(Comes back to forum... Sees Vergil trailer... )

The combat looks very Japanese.

Anybody wondering if this was made with assistance and guidance from capcom as the main game was, or if Ninja Theory did this on their own as an extra after learning from the Capcom guys. This combat, even unfinished, looks less "work-in-progress-give-us-a-chance" continuous patchwork and much more deliberate "We-know-what-the-f#ck-we're-doing" level. Because if this is an indication of the level of combat the team will be bringing to their later games...

I think they have learned how to make some decent combat over these three years. Seems plausible to me. Doesn't mean he won't be using a similar stance system to mirror Dante's and their own flair to the table.
Obviously there was some assistance here as for the rest of the game too.

Just a question. Is that doppelganger his DT? or is it a angel/demon stance or one of his "guns"?
We have no idea yet.
My theory is that Vergil will be able to utilize his Angel/Demon powers in different ways.
So I am guessing the doppelganger substitutes his demon weapons so you will hold down RT to use Doppelganger style, and his Angel powers will have to do with Royalguard in which you hold down LT to use it.
That's just my theory.

Vergil has way too much moves...I guess you can toggle his moves by the RL2 triggers.
But the thing of this ganger is that it doesn't act as the same as Vergil. Which is quite curious.
It even goes charging the enemies behind Vergil like a mile away.

When I showed to one of the members of the Japan DMC community they really went crazy.
like
"They finally gave Vergil his own story! What took them so long?"
"They gave him power all right. I think our annual community tournament will be thrown into chaos with everyone playing Vergil again"
"I thought this was a PC exclusive or something so I was saving my money! FXXK YOU capcom you made my winter holiday a mess! lol."

Hmmm good point.
I'm so intrigued to find out Vergil's control scheme!

YouTubers are such trolls. They try to find something to complain about in the Vergil trailer, but everything in it was badass LOL. I was very impressed. Vergil's move set looks incredible... Even better than Dante's Yamato move set in DMC4. Actually, it's much better! Dante had what, only four moves? DmC Vergil has OVER 9,000!!! Idk when Vergil's Downfall takes place, but I'm guessing before the events of DmC. Vergil can't win the war against demons by himself, so he recruits with Dante for this cause. Refer to the Gamescom/TGS 2012 trailers:

"With the two of us working together, I believe that we can defeat them!"
"There have always been angels. There have always been demons. And there have always been a war."
(Last quote was badass, mind you. lol)

I really do hope Vergil remains a hero. If he does, this'll just drive away from the original DMC series. Vergil already played the role of an anti-hero there. NT is trying something new. ^^ The first DMC was groundbreaking...DmC is like an innovative breath of fresh air to the hack n' slash genre. I think it'll redefine it all over again. :) DmC = DMC for a new generation. My body is ready.

You know, I remember people complaining about how DmC lacks skill and then they also complained about a lack of moves - Danse Macabre and Kick 13 most prominently, which confounded me, because those two moves are a lack of skill. Push one button and do a flurry of kicks, or just keep pressing the button to unleash a stylishly powerful multi-hit combo with ease :V

I think Vergil will have the different sword styles on his triggers, but it's possible the Demon Mode would give him the shadow - for extra power, or it's his DT, while the Angel Mode is for that wide angle attack style he was using. If anything Summoned Swords are his guns, and holding one of those triggers will turn it into Air Trick - sorta like how Dante's Shoot button turns from a Firearm into the Ophion and Hunter Claw skills.

Maybe Virgil doesnt switch weapons when he uses different stances, maybe he just switches his fighting style like channeling his demon power through the yamato to increase its powers while angel powers make him faster or something like that. The left and right on the d-pad could switch his style while up switches his weapons. So atm the LT button could be his Darkslayer style while RT is doppelganger and with RT+X summoning him.

I cannot be the only one seeing the great benefit to incorporating the innovative Heavenly sword control scheme to an action game like this. The huge amount of ways the controls can be set are incredible here. Do the triggers swap powers, styles of swordplay, weapons or are they mapped to the d-pad and the triggers swap one handed and two handed attacks? Do the triggers control the doppelganger avatars' movements? (Sit,stay, sic 'em!)

That's what I want to know! How does Vergil's control scheme work. So many possibilities. Does he swap play styles, does he swap weapons, does he utilize his angel and demon powers, how does his doppelganger work, so many questions!!!
