Tim Phillips: voice actor of Dante....................notice anything?

And maybe learn not to judge people by their appearance too, that would be great. ^^

Don't get me started, I do know how not to judge a book by it's cover, I'm having one of those days...
Don't p*ss me off, now is a bad time...
*apologies to all, in mourning*...

Oh, and I'm sorry I judged Mr New Dante Voice Actor by his looks...
It was an opinion, or am I not entitled to one?...

This should be handled privately then, I will PM you. ^^

I was wondering who this dude was. So he voices Dante?! He kinda looks like DmC Dante. So they hired him over Reuben?
Thats it! DMC Dante played by Reuben vs DmC Dante played by this dude MUST happen!! May the better Voice Actor win.

I haven't kept up with DmC info because its all the same thing.
1. NT defends DmC.
2.We want to appeal to Western folks.
Anyway I will judge him after I hear his acting in game.

They're personalities are quite different. DmC Dante is very violent and insults his enemies in a more meaningful manner, and Tim's voice helps portray this feature. Reuban's voice fits the more non-serious, joking Dante who teases his enemies.
Comparing them is like comparing Val Kilmer's role as Batman to Christian Bale's.

DmC Dante isn't very violent from what we have seen. Here is why:
DmC E3 2010 trailer showed a angry and smoking Dante. And because he was angry he is just as you described very violent. But someone told me that E3 2010 trailer was just a concept (though i am clueless why a concept is in a trailer). And the idea of Dante smoking seems to been taken off.

The Dante of recent trailers is calm and happy from the cutscenes we have seen. He says a cool line now and then just like original Dante. But he doesn't come off as an angry and angsty person as Tameem Antoniades described him.
And what's meaningful way to insult your enemies? That is subjective. So with that said DmC Dante doesn't insult his enemies in any more meaningful way than Original Dante. If you considering calling a demon for "scum" is meaningful then i am confused. PLUS there are FEW scenes of Dante from DmC insulting his enemies.
To illustrate my point more i could say that original Dante insulted demons by not taking them seriously or joking with them because you shouldn't be serious all the time, or life gets to grim. And with that my point could be "original Dante insults enemies in more meaningful way than DmC Dante". But that doesn't mean i am right.

I believe Tim's voice wasn't the thing that made him get picked for the job but his face. I mean would you pick a guy with weird face? Probably not :P

I agree. It seems like Dante is more angry at the fact that he is constantly hunted like a animal and this makes him seem angry. If he wasn't hunted all the time he probably be like this:

Happy, not a girl.

E3 2010 trailer though showed a character that was angry, and very violent.

Wonder if this how newDante will look in a possible sequel?

Also, I think new Dante seems to be more daring then the old Dante.

-Old Dante prefers to stay in his office unless to get pizza, strawberry sundaes, or hunt demons. New Dante's branded a terrorist, but walks on the streets like he doesn't give a damn.

-Old Dante would only walk outside with his shirt off only. New Dante walks out completely naked and still doesn't give a damn. (Or was too lazy to put on clothes, but then again who's THAT lazy?)

Honestly, DmC Dante reminds me of the manga version of Dante in the DMC3 manga, who was two times more bad ass the the Dante in the DMC3 game. I just think DmC Dante seems to be more on the edge as he's a terrorist, while the old Dante seems non-exsistent in society. You'd think someone with bleached white hair would be looked at with odd eyes.

Then again, new Dante would be looked at with fear since he's a terrorist and what not.

Point is; New Dante seems to do things that, while we would love to see him do, the Old Dante would probably not do.

And thought Church was boring. And sleeps nude. Ewww.
That's not disgusting at all. ;)

By that I meant his insults are more meaningful in the sense that he really has something against the demons. They tortured him and destroyed his childhood.
And his insults are far different than old Dante's. He curses his enemies, and truly hates them more than anything. Old Dante just teases them, and doesn't have a huge grudge against them.
They're are moments in the Captivate trailer where Dante looks straight up ****ed off. The old Dante always smiled and acted care free.
I also never said DmC Dante didn't insult his enemies, I said that he does with more purpose. By the way, new Dante is far more violent. Look at the gameplay, he chops his enemies to bits and in a huge bloody mess. In the 2010 trailer he sticks a cigarette in a demon's eye.
We don't know if the smoking thing is off yet, so its dumb to make a blatant assumption.

Actually, I don't see new Dante as extremely violent yet. Just being a bigger dick then the old Dante. Old Dante doesn't knock drinks out of fat guys hands.^_^

He knocked the drink out of his hand because that guy was drinking Virility. They are on their way to destroy the Virility factory. :P

Not trying to be a jerk but when you said "old Dante seems non-exsistent in society" i moved my hand close to my face. As in a face palm. That rarely happens. And i don't mean anything bad by it. It's just that you forgot something.
In DMC 3 society barely existed. When Arkham met Vergil for first time i think at a library i was unsure if it was their first time meeting or if Arkham had met him before. Because there was no people around!
The society of DMC 3: Vergil, Dante, Arkham, Lady, Trish plus few other characters. So that's not a society lol.

As for Dante in DmC, he's a young rebooted version of DMC Dante. Who knows how DMC Dante was like at age of 16 (which is roughly DmC Dante's age). And sooner or later people must let go of anger or it will eat them inside.

As for be daring:
You know Dante is for real when shoots a pope in the head: 0:39 at video

Let's see: DMC Dante lost his brother, his father and his brother. Yes, his insults are not meaningful because he jokes with the demons? DMC started with 1 and it was a good foundation story, sadly DMC 1 is was when Dante was at a big age. He wasn't 16 years old. And DMC 2, 3 and 4 didn't portray DMC Dante's teenage years or did great things for DMC story. DMC 3 wasnt to bad though.

I know you didn't say that DmC Dante didn't insult his enemies. I just said that there are few scenes where he has in trailers.
As far as bloody mess goes when DmC Dante chops his enemies to pieces? That is gameplay. Any actions that you the player perform in a gameplay session will not have any affect of how DmC Dante is. Example if you didn't attack demons so brutally when playing DmC, let's say you killed them off by attacking them with rebellion swings at a slow pace til they died. Would that mean Dante is a sadistic character? No. You must distinguish between gameplay and story.
The bloody gore is there to make you the player go "Wow look at blood" :P

I think my assumption that DmC Dante won't be smoking is a good one. Because Capcom cares about sales. I won't say that it's a fact Capcom asked NT to make whitehair-redjacket devil trigger because of sales, but i am 99,9% sure it's why.
And if a smoking rebooted Dante bothers DMC fans, Capcom will tell NT "No smoking".
