The God of Devil May Cry Has Returned!

TheDarkSlayer

Gilver FTW!
So, I was checking my subs box when suddenly I noticed this video, showing footage made by the legendary KAIL!

So, what do you think? Has KAIL lost his touch, or is he still living up to his reputation?

Well he is definitely a master at jump cancelling but he didn't use many other techniques. He just spammed Osiris and Rebellion jump cancels. He didn't use stinger, streak, or even charge shot once.

I think he needs a bit more time to really learn the mechanics some more. But I can see a lot of potential in it :p

Ah KAIL the god of overused colour filters.

Lots of players surpassed him a long time ago, Brea has always been a better player and her videos have had noticeably better footage for a long time. KAIL just has an over hyped reputation.

Not a "bad" player by any means, but he's known for having aggressive over-praising fans and having a bit of a bad attitude. Oh and his Engrish is epic!

lol What Spawn said.

But yeah, his reputation just comes from way back in DMC3 so he is like the classic example of the hardcore DMC player, but not the best. His Vergil was pretty sick though... but meh.

Exactly.

I don't like his fanbase at all since half of them have no backbone to support themselves. It's always "Kail is so much better, kail is a GOD!" only because he was one of the first players to figure out the mechanics of Jump Cancelling, as well as integrating decent combos together.

By no means he is a bad player. He's alright. But as you stated, times have changed and people surpassed him a LONG time ago.

If Kail picks up this game, we will be screwed. There will be no end to the amount of fanboyism that we will have to deal with and his videos will be posted everywhere.

I wonder if KAIL's fanbase and the portion of the DMC fanbase that won't give DmC a chance are made up of many of the same people :p

Thanks to his videos that got million of views that he is overrated. I always thought of him as the god of DMC until i saw Ramada, Top Breeder and Brea.

This is the good point of DmC.
Everyone could start from the begining to become a good player!
The known players still are mainly using jump cancel but it's just only one of the systems.
And besides, ground combos, chargeshots are still very useful.

Not necessarily. If it's true that most of the mechanics are the same from previous DMCs, while also implementing new ones, then the good players of the DMC franchises will probably carry their skill into this game. Just like what we've seen from returning players. (as well as myself).

I'm just glad that his1nightmare is not touching this game at all. I wouldn't want to him to waste his skill in the demo when I'm positive he'll get frustrated that it's not the same as DMC4/DMC3.

Ditto. I'm not too good at the game right now but I would have never been as good if I hadn't played past DMC games pretty hardcore myself. Sure, the jump cancel and moves in general are different, but since we already knew those existed we can easily tap into these tricks much faster than a newcomer.

And his1nightmare said he was not going to play the game because it was not coming out for PC and he only plays games on his PC.... however, that was before it was announced that there was a PC version of the game coming out eventually. But he might rage a little bit at the gameplay if he were to play it, I suppose.

people who played past dmc games will have a hard time jumping from ground combos to midair and being pushed to spam JC

Oh no, I talked to him and reassured his doubts in the gameplay mechanics after I uploaded a glitch video. He already didn't like the series to begin with and, from what he's seen already, he doesn't like this one either.

"Don't play it. The game is extremely slow and sluggish, JC isn't heavily required, and buffering attacks in the game is extremely weird at times as well. (sometimes I swear it's almost random). You probably wouldn't like playing it at all.
I only play it just to find more glitches and exploits." - chaserthewolf

"These are just some of the reasons why I literally hate this title, and I don't even like the DMC series itself as much to simply hate it for the sake of being a remake.
I play a variety of games which is second to none, but DmC is a step THAT FAR in the wrong direction that even I don't want to come anywhere near it.

However, thanks for strenghtening my opinion; have fun with the bugs, loopholes and glitches, I'm damned sure there are plenty of them." - his1nightmare

You guys might ask why did I steer him away and whatnot, but I'm sure he wouldn't like this game since he normally plays other games that requires precision. Like Street Fighter Third Strike. He's also fond of Super Smash Bros. Melee from what he has told me.There are some games he plays that I question though.

Such as...

or is that an invasion of privacy?

Soul Calibur 5 is a prime example. I always wondered why he picked it up.

Also the conversation was on Youtube. Fairly short since he only responded once. So it's not really an invasion of privacy.

Why do so many people have their d*ck in their hands over Jump Cancelling?

I see your point, but try to hold back on vulgarities.

That being said, I agree. "Oh look. Another video on Jump Cancelling and twitchy-ness." -shrugs-

This is leading back to my opinion on Quick-Switching between styles to get extra hits in when playing as Dante in DMC4. What's the point? Sure, being fast or whatever is important, but not if you aren't going to play by the combat system's main purpose: Style. That, and Brea has already been long ahead of "KAIL" when he took his break from the series. Not bagging on him or anything, not saying he's "bad", but he's a bit late to the party, especially when a lot of us who have played through the demo, and on SoS mode, are getting to SSS rankings with no problem.

So while this is kind of neat, I see no reason for the hype. Again, if he were doing something I hadn't already found out in the demo that made for easy Style Points, then maybe I'd nod my head a little and say "cool". Otherwise...to be blunt, "Meh."

What do you mean exactly?

Like people complaining on why it's so easy? Or people getting extremely impressed by random JCing in DmC videos?
People who are either impressed by it, or who simply use it as points in a discussion concerning DmC's combat intricacies, I simply don't understand the fascination behind the technique to be honest. I would much rather perform combos which are designed to look impressive and stylish, as opposed to abusing 2 or 3 frames of glitchy bullsh*t, 50 bizzilion times.

But that's just Me.
