The God of Devil May Cry Has Returned!

Blargh, I can't do any of them except for the Richoshot Charge >_< Although, I do sorta like that one, because I can stock it, and it'll keep whatever charge level you had it at. I'm wondering if I can get it to go perfectly to hold the Just Charge version.

That mechanic has got to be my fave glitch I've found, to be honest.

It's convenient, doesn't require you to hold a button, and you can attack on the fly.

Although you can't use Ophion. I've gotten it to work without even doing the animation for Prop, so it's really holding in the secondary inputs until near the end of the dodge roll. Can't seem to get the Just Charge to stock, might be that the Just Charge overrides the glitch, or my timing is still a little off.

Since you seem to be so much better at split-second timing, maybe you should give it a try :P

Haha, :D yeah the vid I uploaded explains that you can input a secondary attack, not just Prop Shredder. However I find Prop to be the easiest, since it's a long lasting attack.

Yeah, the Prop input allows you to bypass the animation entirely before the dodge roll's end. However, I just did it with just Hightime, so I've been able to figure out that if you dodge and quickly release the Shoot key, and then input another command before the dodge roll's end, you'll replace the Ricoshot action in the queue with the new one to keep the stock.

I'm adding it to E&I's DmC Wiki article, dubbing it the "Ricoshot Stock." Guess I can credit you with discovering it :P Whaddya wanna go under, ChaserTech, or ChasertheWolf?

You can use my actual alias, ChasertheWolf. You can put "Chaserthewolf, aka ChaserTech" if you feel more comfortable.

Gotcha.

And holy crap, you can even do it by just jumping out of the dodge roll, or even just by double-tapping the dodge key. All it needs is any another input to replace Ricoshot during the dodge animation. And it even has a small cost of not being able to use Ophion before getting rid of the stocked Ricoshot :p

To be honest, you don't even need to use the dodge roll.
I've managed to do it just by attacking twice with Rebellion. As you stated, it only needs two inputs.

I'll be a bit sad if this is removed though. It seems kinda nifty.

Ooooh, interesting. I haven't published the update yet, so I'll change it.

Argh! I seemed to miss the majority of this conversation even though I'm a fan of guns!
I'll try it...thanks dude!

Heyyy,Greg here from Capcom Unity. Just a note on JC'ing, because I've seen a lot of it in recent combo videos and a lot of talk about it in forums. I feel that it's not actually the Jump Canceling itself that's impressive in this game--it's connecting with moves just before doing the JC that takes skillful timing, and of course discovering which moves link together well with JC'ing. As some people have pointed out, it's easy to end up just making Dante look all twitchy if you abuse the JC, and then, har har more meth addict jokes, great.

I've seen a lot of combo vids that, while flashy, don't quite have the timing down, and you'll see that some of the JCs are being executed before the preceding move has a chance to connect, including some of the ones in the OP vid. NT's Dom Matthews actually linked me to a specific video as an example of someone getting the timing right, but I just discovered that I don't yet have the right to post links since I just made an account here ^^;;;

If you're curious though, the vid is called "DmC: Devil May Cry - Cancel Compilation" by YouTuber Derekoe

This may be the guy to beat right now, at least in terms of timing accuracy.

Holy crap, that's my YouTube channel, haha. I uploaded that from some other player from Nicozon, though. Wish I knew their name so I could give them credit.

I should also update the video, with mention that it's how it's actually supposed to be done! Off I go!

EDIT - This is the video Gregaman was talking about...

Wow, so it is real? I always thought that "Kail the GOD of DMC" was some sort of inside joke in the DMC community, because I never understood what was so special about him. He's a good player, a lot better than your average DMC player, but not a top tier player, he's just no that good. So I thought it was some kind of joke because of a bad attitude he might have or something like that, but people were actually serious when they said he was better than his1nightmare or brea? Seriously?

Wow.

EDIT: SCREW THAT GREG IS HERE???? OH MY GOD

EDIT2: About JC style, yeah, people need to stop spamming that. Sure, the way JC works in this game is pretty bad compared to DMC3 and 4, but it's not because the game lets you do this horrible twitchy thing that you should. Brea was just showing that you don't have to actually hit to make the enemy stay in the air, but people are replicating it like it was some sort of style standard for this game. If anything, the Prop Cancelling is far more stylish.

I'm also incorporating the Ricoshot glitch in my combos, it's pretty cool to have your enemy juggling in the air with Ricoshot, do a helm breaker the other way just to fall to the ground and then do the charge /\ with Osiris (forgot the move's name, sorry). Using Drop and JC on hit to slowly get to the ground with weird camera angles is also very neat, it's too bad the game doesn't recognize the hit even though you see hit sparks, the enemy gets in hit stun and you can hear the hit sound, I hope they fix it.

EDIT3: Yeah, NT really shouldn't fix the Ricoshot glitch. Things like this improve the game and should just be treated as features. So don't get rid of it in DmC 2 as well.

Oh no, it's definitely not an inside joke. If it was, I'd be doing it too.
He's only considered to be a legend just because he was the first to exploit JC to what we know today, as well as creating combos. But it was only a matter of time before someone would figure it out.

Yeah I don't think brea did it just to show off. Nor did anyone else who showed off the glitchy JC cancelling. They did it to show that you didn't need to hit the enemy with an attack, which is stupid.

Even with a well timed JC, it's still not as hard to pull off in the past games since the input window is still considerably larger. Which is why I'm still not that impressed when people JC multiple Helm Breakers or Drops.

Haha, awesome. It's nice to know that people are finding use for this glitch. :P
In fact, I'm surprised that no one else found out about this, especially Brea since she used charged shot cancelling for Prop Shredder. Then again, she probably picked up DmC just to mess around.

And yes, I do hope they fix JC Drop. It's ridiculous that it doesn't cause damage at all.

the charge /\ with Osiris (forgot the move's name, sorry).

That one is called "Raze."

And remember, it has a Just Charge on the max level, like any of the charge moves in the demo - and probably the game, do.

Did anyone try to see if they can Stock a Just Charge of Ricoshot? I haven't been able to, but I wonder if I'm doing the timing to catch it a bit wrong...

WAAAAAAAAAAIT A MINUTE.

What do you mean? Enlighten me.

All of the chargeable moves in the demo have a Just Charge property on them. Get down the timing for when the move hits its third (max) level of charge, and then train yourself to release the button immediately when it hits that full charge. It can be done on Drive, Raze, and Ricoshot. Drive releases a big orange shockwave, Raze leaves behind a trail of blue smoke as you spin upwards, and Ricoshot looses big blue bullets that move faster and hit harder.

I'd wager a guess that all of the charge moves in the game have this option. Maybe Gregaman can confirm :p

Ricoshot has got to be the weirdest timing ever. I haven't been able to do it properly at all.

It's probably messing me up since I'm trying to release the moment I feel the vibration for my controller, as well as hearing the sound to notify that E&I charged up.
