Survival Games

new survival game based on conan is coming on PC:
http://www.conanexiles.com

Looks like it could be a blend of Rust & Ark (purely based on trailer & description) intriguing however and shall keep eye on it. Though the concept might be a stretch for the developers who dont have a great deal of success under their belts just yet. They are also venturing into a crowded genre in early access with other titles that are further into development than this idea already but they are showing its not easy to get it right and development takes some time. If they enter the market with full releases long before this comes close to 1.0 it might kill it off before it even gets going.

hope it wont happens. Conan universe is much deeper than child's power fantasy like Swarznegger movie or cartoon were. So I hope they take clues from original books. So I hope they wont kill it with underdeveloped game.

I know survival games are ten to the dozen on Steam currently but none have properly nailed it just yet. Plenty of good ideas that just havent hit the heights they could yet but this looks promising too. Its been in development for around 3 years and was funded via Steam Greenlight by the community and is being developed by a small (young) team and will be hitting Steam in the summer. Will be keeping my eyes on it and seeing what gamers think when it releases (had 2 positive stress test releases so far).

Survive the Nights

Survive the Nights is a unique FPS survival game focusing on teamwork, fortification, creativity and strategy. Secure a structure or roam free, the choice is yours. Survive the Nights focuses on realistic survival, post zombie infestation. The game takes advantage of day and night cycles. Preparing during daylight hours when moving around the world is less risky. Make use of existing structures instead of building them. Play as a team to better your chances surviving each night.

There are currently over 400 structures on the island’s alpha build. Every structure on the island is enterable and fortifiable. Fell a tree (there are over 24 thousand) and produce logs. With the right tools in hand, you'll be able to craft planks then all that's needed is a hammer and a box of nails. Find lock hasps and combination locks to secure doors, cabinets, lock boxes and vehicles. Craft traps to keep players and zombies at bay.

Please remember, we’re dedicated to listening to the players. If you have any suggestions share them on our forums, we’re listening!

Vigor is a new survival game from the studio behind Arma and DayZ

Vigor is a new survival game from Bohemia Interactive, makers of the Arma 3 infantry simulation and DayZ, the progenitor of the modern survival shooter. The game is coming exclusively to Xbox One through the Game Preview early access program later this year.

The third-person shooter takes place in an alternate history 1991, where humanity is battling back from a devastating nuclear war in Central Europe. Set in Norway, early assets show massive mountains and sweeping vistas. The game appears to be instance-based, with engagements for groups of eight to 16 players. The game will include crafting as well as some form of base building. Other screens show a mix of NATO and Warsaw Pact weaponry as well as melee weapons like hunting knives.

Bohemia Interactive said that Vigor will launch with a for-pay Premium Founders Pack some time this year to access the Game Preview beta, and transition to a free-to-play model in 2019 and beyond.

Scum is an online multiplayer survival game set in a brutal and bizarre open world where prisoners fight for the amusement of spectators, making them contestants and stars of a sort. As with Hunger Games, your prowess will attract sponsors, who'll give powerful gifts, and you can even be resurrected by the show's producers if you die.

Scum is made by Croatian team Gamepires with the help of Serious Sam developer Croteam. It's powered by Unreal Engine 4.

SCUM launched in early access on August 29th

Although the review scores currently sit at mixed (not abnormal for an early access survival game) most of its player base have been praising it for already having a more solid base than most that have been available for years and saying its one of the best survival games available already at this early stage.

It has already received quite a few patches and they are currently working on optimisation and server lag. I have been watching videos of it on Youtube and its looking pretty good for one of the many early access survival games, I think its doing enough to stand out from most of the others already & is currently sitting 12th in most played on Steam list with 16,772 players. Might get it myself when its a little further down the line of development but for £15.49 people have been saying that is a very fair price point for this stage of its development cycle.

Miscreated leaving early access and version 1.0 is releasing Dec 18th

Two of the biggest survival games are both leaving early access this month (DayZ 1.0 has already launched). Miscreated is the next survival title to leave its early access state and officially launch with a lot of new features and systems.

Miscreated 1.0 launch will feature over 20 new ranged and melee weapons, over 100 new skins, player hosted servers, deadly ground attacks, underground bunkers, new weather patterns, exhaustive temperature system, new unique map areas, new base building parts, farming system, interactive world, enhanced survival mechanics, supply power to houses, complete map, immersive audio, new AI, extended consumable system, 100’s of bug fixes and so much more!

In my hope for a decent PvE co-op survival game it seems Dead Matter is shaping up quite nicely. It does have the open online world of DayZ but is also said to feature AI factions and PvE events in same game world too.

Green Hell (Steam)

GREEN HELL is an Open World Survival Simulator set in the uncharted unique setting of the Amazonian rainforest.

You are left alone in the jungle without any food or equipment, trying to survive and find your way out. Clinging to life, the player is set on a journey of durability as the effects of solitude wear heavy not only on the body but also the mind. How long can you survive against the dangers of the unknown?

On this journey, you won’t get any help from the outside world. Equipped only with your bare hands you’ll have to learn actual survival techniques to build shelters, make tools, and craft weapons in order to hunt and defend yourself. Constantly threatened by the jungle you’ll fight with both wild animals and tropical sicknesses. Players will also have to face the traps set by your own mind and fears that crawl in the darkness of the endless jungle.

STORY
You are thrown deep into the emerald and impenetrable Amazonian rain forest. The green hell. Your goal is to survive in the depths of a nightmarish environment using truly intuitive means to escape. What you discover will be worse than what you fought so hard against to survive.

Dead Matter Community Update #9

Hey Backers!

We’ve got another update regarding our release schedule. We’ve taken the last two months to analyze the response of our community, and our backers. We’d like to thank everyone that has come out to show support for the team.

Based on what we’ve gathered via comment sections as well as conversations we’ve had with our backers through Discord, an overwhelming majority of our backers have asked us to continue taking the necessary amount of time to ensure Dead Matter has a successful initial release and reception. We agree with this sentiment and will move forward with this as it is in-line with what our backers would like and will only further improve Dead Matter.

We refuse to allow Dead Matter to become another game that fades into obscurity because of a premature Alpha/Early Access launch. There are an abundance of games that have released too early and suffered greatly, some games even being received so poorly that development has ceased all together. We rely on crowdfunding for the project and, in order to deliver an experience we believe the community would want, such as an experience free from microtransactions and allowing anyone to setup a dedicated server. We must ensure that our release goes smoothly even if it involves having our backers waiting for just a little longer. The longevity of Dead Matter relies heavily on the first impression that the community outside of the discord sees. (“A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”, Shigeru Miyamoto)

We’re aiming for this summer. Though we aren’t going to give an exact date. This is to ensure that our transition to Backer (Closed) Alpha and then to Early Access is as smooth as possible and the game gets off the ground.

We are currently hitting our internal goals and the game has been exploding with progress. Every aspect from the animations, to the weapon and inventory mechanics, as well as our game-world, which has gone through a massive overhaul, to deliver an easy to navigate world with a powerful atmosphere. Our dedicated team has been churning out content faster than ever as we race towards our Closed Alpha. While development has been going extremely well and we’ve been hitting our internal goals, we also want to allow ourselves the time to ensure that the game is ready and in a state that we feel secure with releasing.

We understand that having to wait really sucks, after some careful consideration we will be adding a brand new feature to the game that will be exclusive to our backers. As a token of our appreciation for all of the patience and kindness our community has shown us as we push forward with getting the game into your hands via Steam.

Moving forward we would like your feedback on how we can improve the communication between the community and ourselves to improve transparency towards development. We want everyone to know the current state of the game to reduce confusion and the spread of misinformation.

Transparency with our community is one of our most important goals during this pre-release development time frame. We keep the backer community up-to-date with progress on the game on a daily basis through our discord, and occasionally through other social media platforms such as Twitter and Reddit. We would like to take the time now to bring more focus on external platforms to reach a larger audience beyond the community in our Discord. This also includes more hands on with streaming our development on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.

If you would like to see some raw footage of the game being developed daily, you can view our development streams on Twitch.

As the game gets closer and closer to closed alpha/early access Steam release, more and more details and videos are emerging. I’m still really hoping this doesnt fall flat as the developers and the team are saying and doing all the right things so far.

Had a couple of chats with them myself over Twitter and their forums and they are a really passionate and friendly team who are happy to answer questions. Here are some more informative videos from MrAtomicDuck (who I have also chatted too rather frequently) giving people an idea of what things to expect in the game & the process of creating it from the team themselves.

Been a while since I updated this thread but Dead Matter is closing in on Closed Alpha (June) and they have released the latest Dev Blog. Still very much a work in progress but looks to be progressing nicely.
