Kept you waiting, huh?
The dull roar of live music filled the 100 Rads bar, most of the people hanging round were up on the dance floor, the rest were sat at the bar, getting served up all horrible concoctions of drinks from the landlord, known only as “Barkeep”.

One man sat in the corner table, shrouded in shadows throwing back shots of tertukha Horlika vodka, literally meaning Strawberry “Burning” Vodka. He lined up three shot glasses, pouring out the small measures and then proceeded to throw back each one in unison, slamming each glass down on the table upside down.

He stood up, walking back up to the bar, he spoke to Barkeep.

“Barkeep, another bottle please.”

“Don’t you think you’ve had quite enough there Ghost?”

“No, not just yet, I’ve got a bunch of newcomers to train and I don’t plan to be all that sober for it.”

“Very well, just remember you already owe me about £300 on your tab.”

The 100 Rads bar in Rostok, the place where everyone comes to drown away the sorrows of living in a post apocalyptic wasteland, Ukraine as a shell of its former self. Duty are based in Rostok, using the place as a base of operations and a checkpoint between the North and the South end of The Zone, effectively working to protect the Loners in the South from the Freedom faction in the South.

However, those who subscribe to conspiracy theories believe that Duty have set up camp there for a multitude of reasons, foremost of these being to keep the Loners in the South from joining Freedom, as they have to pass through the Duty checkpoint before coming anywhere near Freedom.

Others believe that there is something important in Rostok, some believe there is a hidden stash of artefacts, or something of scientific value there, but the truth of the matter is that Rostok simply presented the best opportunity for the Duty faction to grab a hold on The Zone.

Duty, the faction who believes The Zone should be eradicated. Duty are from a military background, their veterans are simply some of the best soldiers, often former members of the KGB or Spetsnaz, whilst their newcomers are waifs and strays that are either green ex-military or Stalkers from the local area.

Back to the bar, Ghost sat back down with his fresh bottle of vodka, lining up another three shots and knocking them back once again. His PDA vibrated; pulling it out of his back pocket he tapped the screen and read the message.

“Ghost, some of the newcomers should be coming your way soon, sober up and get ready, you’ve got a mission to take ‘em on. Sent them all a message with your last known location, assuming you’re still sat on your arse at 100 Rads, we’ll be sending a contract along to you too.

Morgan out.”

“Ugh, great...Just what I need.” Ghost drank one more shot, screwed the cap back on the bottle of vodka and stood up, dusting himself off.

-----

Welcome to the Stalker roleplay, this will be the primary thread you'll be posting in, you'll get your contracts for your appropriate factions in their respective contract sticky threads, I'll be primarily acting as Ghost, however, I will also be playing the minor roles of the people your characters talk to regarding mission updates, regardless of faction.

I'm currently playing the following characters:

Primary character:
Ghost - Fire team leader. Duty veteran.

Minor characters:
Sidorovich - Loner contract giver/trader.
Barkeep - Duty contract giver/trader.
Skinflint - Freedom contract giver/trader.
Wolf - Temporary leader of the Loner faction. (Will not play any actual role in the events of contracts and how they play out, exists only to offer mission information.)

So yeah, hope this works out well now I've finally sobered up and got this going.

Wraith looked at his PDA and saw the contract that told all newcomers to go to the 100 Rads bar. He looked up and headed towards Rostok, making sure to stay away from the areas where bandits have been sighted. When he got to Rostok, he beelined for the 100 Rads bar and looked around. Not finding anyone who looked important, and not wanting to speak in general, he sat down at the bar.

"A drink, please. I don't care what kind. Whatever you recommend."

Boomtown checked his PDA, to see a new contract telling him to find Wolf in the middle of town. With a smirk, a newly placed cigarette in his mouth, and a slight huff, he went looking for Wolf. Whilst walking the short distance he thought about one thing, the bandits that were stationed in the train station just north of The Cordon. Once he found the man he came to see, he put out his cig then approached him casually.

"You wolf?" he barked ****ily, slightly coughing shortly after.

Barkeep looked up at the newcomer in front of him, he spoke up in a thick Russian accent.

"Ahh you're new here I take it. I know everyone in Rostok yet I don't know you...You have Duty gear, so I'll assume you're a Duty newcomer too, in which case I'll be sending you over to Ghost there, you'll be having what he's drinking comrade, and I'll warn you now...It's strong stuff."

He gestured towards the shadowy figure in the corner of the bar before handing the newcomer a bottle of Strawberry Horlika and a couple of shot glasses.

"It tastes sweet, it'll creep up on you too...And tell Ghost that he still owes me £300 for the last few times he's been drinking here. Call me Barkeep, you'll be seeing me a lot, so don't go making any trouble."

~~~
Wolf looked up at Boomtown, he kept playing his guitar, strumming out a few basic chords before stopping.
"Yeah, I'm Wolf, join us, sit down...I'm gonna assume you're here for the contract, y'know, help my guys out at the train yard clearin' those bandits, can't go much longer without supplies you know."
He flicked his cigarette into the burning drum him and some other Loners were gathered around before gesturing for Boomtown to sit.
Death checked his PDA, the anti gas mask he was wearing, maked difficult to read the message, it was from the freedom leader, the message was about some ex-Duty soldiers, but it didnt sayed where to meet the faction leader, also they had to form a strike team.
"Where do you are". He walked a few steps more and stoped."The message sayed we have to bring a live Duty, but it didnt sayed that we can make his life harder".
Phoenix sat on the floor and looked at her PDA. "Cr@p" she thought to herself, "Teamwork."
She swept her brown hair back into a ponytail and pulled the hood of her armor over her head.
She wasn't thrilled at the prospect of working with other rookies.
She looked at Death and said in her strong Russian accent, "Obviously you want to get a bit of torture in then?"
Daring Dylan
This is all we got now.
Shy looked around her, noticing someone walking up to Wolf. "He better be the last one. I'm sick and tired of waiting," she mumbled to herself; that earned her a few irritated looks.
She flipped her hair co.ckily over her shoulder, but said nothing, waiting for Wolf's instructions as Boomtown took his seat.
Death looked at Phoenix, and replied to her."Who would not like to torture some Dutys". He whispered she to the ear.
"You...In my book, making someone's life harder involves a tiny bit of torture."
Phoenix replied with a glint in her eye.
"After all...Duty scum deserve everything they get."
"So, this Train Station... how far is it exactly? He said taking a gray clay-like material from his pack. Whilst he waited for instructions, he took out a bottle of clear liquid that had a peculiar smell, then stuffed some of the gray material into the bottle and shook it up.
Wraith stood up and walked over to the man Barkeep had pointed at. He sat down at the table and looked at his supposed CO. He didn't look like much, but looks were deceiving. "You Ghost?" He asked in a gruff tone. "Was supposed to report to you."
Angelo Credo
"Train station's about a mile East of here, got a few men patrolling the tree line around the outside perimeter, there's about six of them, six of our best, they should be able to take out the bandits no problem with your help Stalker. Go find 'em and they'll follow your orders."
Wolf pulled out another cigarette, lighting it on the flaming drum. He pulled it back, taking a drag, he exhaled the smoke and sighed.
He noticed a women staring at the both of them, Wolf called over to her.
"I assume you're a friend of this one, come comrade, sit down, have a drink, I'll let this character here fill you in on the mission, for now though I've been told to raid our weapons stash and get you some better gear."
Wolf pulled up a blue box of suitcase size, he opened it up, showing it to Wolf first, inside the box sat a revolver barrel grenade launcher, as well as several high explosive grenades, and a few frag grenades.
"I heard you're an explosives man, so I thought this would be the thing for you, RBG-6, revolver barrelled, six cylinder grenade launcher that'll rain death on anything you fire it at, not much ammo about though, and it's expensive too, you've got 12 shots, use them wisely."
~~~

Ghost looked up at the man that just sat down at his table.

"Yeah, I'm Ghost, judging by your looks I'm gonna say you're new here, and that you're Wraith...Yeah yeah, PDA message told me all about you kid, you'll be a useful man to have in a fight."

Ghost lined up another shot of vodka.

"I assume you know all about the contract right? Because I don't wanna have to go into too much detail about it, move in, kill bandits, recover scientist's findings, move out, collect reward..."

He put the glass to his mouth, savouring the smell before tipping it back.

"Ahh, right, I don't know if there are more coming just yet but let's have a few drinks, get to know each other, I like to know who I'm fighting with comrade."

Wraith sighed. "Not one to talk much, but okay. All you need to know is that I'm doing this because it's the right thing. Those Freedom people spout nonsense about you, when your people were the ones that protected me when Freedom killed my parents." He took a sip of his vodka and started again. "I'm a very handy mechanic. People call me a technopath. I can fix things I haven't even seen before. Very handy. I'm not a bad shot either. Oh, and I don't talk much. Chances are this is the most you'll hear me talk, ever." He tilted his head to the side and studied Ghost. "What about you? What are you like?"

"Well you know our mission, maybe is best to capture one or two Dutys, and we dispose of one". Death whispered to the lady in the ear."Whats your name, mine is Death".

"Pleased to meet you.... Death. Seeing as you asked... mine's Georgia... but you can call me Phoenix, seeing that we're now on a mission."

Phoenix thought about the prospect of killing a Duty... it made her smile.

"That's all I'll need." Boomtown said as he took the equipment. He eyed the RBG-6 then smirked back to Wolf. "Heh, you know just what I like." he said as he chuckled a bit, heading off east. "I'll make sure to tell your guys you said hi." he called laughing a bit then turning back east and heading off.

Garviel awoke to the vibrations of his PDA. Slipping it out from his pocket, he gave it a quick one-over and sighed. "Yup...guess some of the others are already joining up. Sheesh, they sure are gonna pay quite a bit for this one..."

Garviel crawled off of a small pile of sheet metal that he'd decided to rest on, and glanced around the area. Eventually, he spotted a pair that looked interesting enough to join up with, and waltzed over to them. "Hey, you guys get the message too?" He asked Death and Phoenix.

"Of course..." Phoenix said turning to the newcomer, "I assume then we'll be working as a team...One big happy family" she continued sarcastically.

"I'm sorry, I am Phoenix. I must say, we're rookies, but i haven't seen either of you before"

Angelo Credo

Of course! Good luck comrade and best wishes to both you and my men, don't forget to come back here afterwards and tell me how the massacre goes! We shall drink to your victory! Hahah!

Wolf called out after Boomtown, laughing heartily...After calming down, he faced the flaming drum once more, lighting up another cigarette and began playing his guitar once more.

~~~
"So...Wraith, a technopath you say? Someone like yourself would be very useful to have out on the field...That is, if half the vehicles in the Zone weren't a smouldering pile of wreckage, still, I'm sure we can put you to good use."
Ghost knocked back another shot of vodka, coming to the end of his bottle, he poured out the last remains into his third glass and set it down on the table.
"Freedom...Idiots, in every sense of the word, glad you didn't listen, not glad your parents are dead, I would apologise for your loss...But I'm sure you've heard it enough comrade, am I right?"
He raised the glass just above his head, moving it towards the middle of the table.
"A toast, to the lives of your parents, cut woefully short by insipid, close-minded morons...May your revenge be a brutal one comrade."
He drank his last shot, placing the small glass upside down on the table.
"At any rate...What am I like? I specialise in a variety of things, however, my skills lie in battlefield command, long range engagement, sniping, infiltration, subterfuge, sabotage, information retrieval...That sort of thing, and I'm good at my job, I once convinced a Freedom official that I was a higher ranking officer, despite the fact that I was wearing a Duty exoskeleton suit at the time, he believed that I'd just killed a patrol and taken the suit off of one of them...Idiot."
