One absolute reason why this is not a true DMC game

JESUS, you JESUS freak!! what the hell are we talking about:w00t:

Please tell me you are joking and that you know that I am kidding! At this point the name calling just struck a nerve so say that you are kidding me!

Fair enough, then.

On the subject, how does one say their opinion without calling it bitchig? I've listed, many times over the last year and a half why I don't agree that this is a game that says Devil May Cry.

I think the best way to express it is by going the opposite direction. And this is it:
If this game wasn't called Devil May Cry no one would argue that it should be. If on the day they released the debut trailer peole saw it and it was called Devil Devine or some s' no one would look at it and say 'wait a minute, that's a Devil May Cry game why isn't it called Devil May Cry?' and yet it is called Devil May Cry and people argue that it is or isn't one.

On the opposite direction of what you just said though, if it wasn't called Devil May Cry, and the main character wasn't a different Dante, meaning it would be a completely new game then Capcom would have to either abandon the whole DMC universe, or try another reboot - maybe a worse one.

After all they made it clear they want to sell more DMC games but on the other hand, that they know that the current DMC is very difficult to make more sequels since Dante as a character is more or less complete and nothing can ever harm him. They tried Nero, but failed. So for them, the reboot was the only solution.

I disagree, I think that with a little imagination and abandoning the Yuji Shimomura/Ryuhei Kitamura style story telling will go a long way to improve the frenchise and a few changes here and there and there you go, you have yourself a reboot free sequel. But I can't emphesise dropping the Versus style story telling, it's just killing the series, it was refreshing in 3 but in 4 it just got in the way. Actually just getting rid of Yûji Shimomura altogether might help; He did fantastic work on the Returner and Versus but now it's just getting ridicilous.

I agree that it isn't such a big deal to create a decent sequel.

The problem is, apparently Capcom seems to think different. As a bussiness I mean. They probably think that by giving us (=the fans) the same stuff over and over (= old Dante) they won't be making a bit enough profit. So they want new stuff to attract more people to the franchise and fill their pockets. Nero was their first attempt. He failed.

So now they try something a bit more extreme.

It's easier to attract more people if you make radical changes after all and..by keeping the title Devil May Cry, no matter who some of us rant, we'll still buy the game being fans and all. Resulting in Capcom's plan being a success and enlarging DMCs fanbase.

Aparantly it is. but their mentality is a bussines one, they will not take risks they don't have to. Their concer must always be a sure sale product and personally I belive that is what's killing Capcom. It's a rock and a hard place for them but at the same time it is a hole they dug themselve in.

Yes and no. Nero is not their first attempt DMC3 Dante was. Here's what I mean, I belive that Capcom has been unable to pull of Dante the way Mikami and Kamiya did, they've experimented with the character so much but keep trying to re invent him because they just aren't getting it; they didn't get it right in 2 so they re invented him in 3 but that got old fast in 4, and Nero(who when anounced came with the reasons for been as the reboot) as you said, didn't hold strong enough, ether, and now they are re inventing him yet again only more drasticly this time around.

Well, I'm not buying it on release, not till I see what the game offers, and even still if I do buy I will buy used.

True story about Dante. Someone told me that Kamiya himself said some time ago on twitter that in every other DMC besides the 1st, the "Dante" there is a totally different character than the one he had in mind.

I wonder how come he wasn't the one asked to make the sequel. I know he left Capcom for some reason but not the details. Oh well. At least he's got Bayonetta now.

As for buying the game. Well first of all I'd have to buy a new PS3. I have the ancient model with 40gbs, and it won't let me buy any new games. Not that I have any money to actually do buy, but that's another matter. But yeah, even though I kinda like the new DmC more than my initial reaction, I'm not like super hyped to get it. I'd like to play it nevertheless.

However I got myself a PS3 because of DMC4. Not the smartest move I've done, but I don't regret it. I'm just pointing it out to show how different my mentality is now and how it was then.

That's the reason why I bought my 360  (and the 360 was cheaper than the ps3 away.)
That's all i wanted to say...
Back on topic...:ermm: (sorry, i didn't really have anything to add)

I hang out at the Platinum forums and we talked about that. It seems that Kamiya felt then (DMC2) what we, those who are unhappy about the reboot, feel now. To him they're all the same thing to the point that the reboot look didn't phace him anymore.

As to why he left it's because Clover studios wanted to branch off of Capcom and make games themselfs, there was no anomocity from what I've heard, they just wanted to be an independant entety.

I'm sort of thinking that kamiya have an ill feeling when the first DmC announced or more like he despised it.Because of course,he have so much pride in his work and i can see his tweets everyday about his games.

That is why kamiya said that they are read to take over NT's devil may cry.Capcom only needs to ask them.
Kamiya is not that kind of person that would make a statement like that but he did.Maybe because its Devil may cry.

Well, Nero's lacluster welcome wasn't his fault as fans were given no idea as to why he should take over the series as his connection wasnt properly explained and they felt he was a unneccesary addition as you could have had Vergil or Sparda take over.
