In the context of the interview I don't see it as a particularly damning statement. The passive nature tell me that he doesn't want to get in to it, which can be either good or bad. The issue is that I believe him and that means they're aren't and haven't been working on a DMC title, which means not this year, not next year, and maybe not even the year after.
I believe him too. Considering the financial rut Capcom is still in, Devil May Cry as it stands is a gamble in their eyes. And Capcom is one of those idiots that have an all or nothing kind of view for the most part. He can talk soundly about franchises such as Resident Evil though because they're some of Capcom's biggest games. Resident Evil REmakes and an eventual RE 7 will definitely help them make bank. Not to mention the upcoming Street Fighter V. Capcom's playing it safe. That's all they can do.

Sorry to be so blunt about it but you guys are acting pretty naive right now. I mean honestly, what did you expect him to say?

"Yeah we are totally making DMC5 and I just ruined a huge surprise, yay!!!"

Come on. Just look at what is he saying.
Basara? No plans.
DMC? No plans.
DD? No plans.
Well.... ummm....anything? No plans.

He clearly can't talk about what they are doing. Hell, they didn't even straight out confirm RE7 and told us to wait and that's a game that pretty much everyone knows they are making. You can't honestly expect them to come out and talk about games that they haven't even announced yet.

"We have no plans right now" means absolutely nothing, so stop getting so worried.

@Sawyer1331: I get what you mean, but there's a pretty clear reason for that "worry". You said yourself we know there will be a RE7. Well, people don't know if there will be a DMC 5. The difference with RE is that they keep making them and DMC gets a 'reboot' and a special edition to DMC 4. Not exactly the same kind of situation here.

@LordOfDarkness
A year ago I would completely agree with you, but right now? Nah, I don't think there is any reason to be worried about DMC5. There are just way, WAY too many signs pointing at DMC5 being in development IMO. I think I've posted this before (was it here or in another forum?) but here is quick list:
  • The fact that they bothered to make a special edition of DMC4 after seven years.
  • Hiring an entire new Japanese cast for DMC4SE for the first time ever in the history of DMC series. (This is the biggest sign after DMC4SE itself IMO. And it's the main reason that I don't consider DMC4SE to be a "quick cash garb".)
  • Hiring a new voice actress for Lady (You don't go out of your way to hire a new voice actress just to have her say a couple of lines in an SE edition)
  • Vergil literally talking about his return at the end of DMC4SE. (Call me crazy, but that's the definition of teasing the next game)
  • Again teasing next DMC with "See You Next Devil May Cry" picture at the end of DMC4SE.
  • DMC4SE being made by Access Games (which means Itsuno and original DMC team were free to work on something else the entire time)
  • Itsuno laughing and dodging the question about DMC5 instead of saying that he wants to make it (like he did back in 2013).
  • Capcom making a big marketing push for the main series again with stuff like BASARA vs DMC play, putting DMC characters in various games and apps (form Vergil, Dante and Nelo Angelo being in Project x Zone 2 to costume DLCs for Monster Hunter and even a zombie cafe app thingy) and hell, they are even making special drinks and dishes in some restaurants for each character.
  • DMC 3.1.4.2 art book finally being released in English.
  • Itsuno openly asking and discussing with fans about what kind of weapons they want to see in next DMC (during E3 streams for 4SE) and even talking about features that he likes to put in DMC5 such as Co-op during his recent interview. (In which he actually says that the main series is still alive and that sells of DMC4SE won't affect the future of the entire series, which can be interpreted as sequel being already in works.)

And probably a few other things that I'm forgetting right now. So yeah, with all these signs I find nothing to worry about next DMC no matter what PR answer Capcom decides to give us at the moment. They are just not ready to talk about it right now and it's pretty understandable considering that they haven't even announced it officially.

@Sawyer1331: I guess a lot of people are looking towards the negatives. All I was saying is there's a reason why so many people are losing hope and interest in DMC. I mean, Vergil should've got his own campaign in DMC 4: SE, to me at least.

People are just tired of waiting for a new entry into the series. I can't say I don't blame them. But at the same time I don't support the notion that DMC is "dead".

Honestly at this point i don't know what think about the future of Devil May Cry... But one thing that gives me hope is the film's release in 2016 ... I think it's a good time to announce a new DmC/DMC...

There will be really a movie of the series?

I honestly don't think this is a good idea, unless we're talking about DmC, who already has this movie feeling. The other games simply doesn't fit in a movie.

There been tok about movies since like 2008. And nothing. No trailer, no confirmation, no cast. So I wouldnt bet it on release in 2016 or anytime soon.

Never heard Capcom confirm about a DMC film. I've only heard it from third party sources so I don't count those, so my view is there is no movie unless Capcom confirms it.

I think the same... But hope not...
eh lets admit. If they made decent animation movie like Street Fighter 2 it would be great but live movie has like 10 % chances to succeed so it most likely be better without it (unless they really wanted great animation)

Totally agree again... About Screen Gems Movies, i personally think Underworld is a good series and i think the last two Resident Evil is not Bad so this gives me some hope on a DmC movie if they do it... And with a movie the possibilities to see another game are much more...

Wait Underworld is a game film? I think its OG franchise. Also I only preferred first RE movie. Than i saw 2 and 3 and never came back. Personally the only films I consider good out of game films are Silent Hill and first MK. Its better forget stuff like Blood Rayne and Alone in the Dark
