What kind of weapon is lucifer? A sword? or just a sword pack with a rose?

i'd say it's like an unlimited supply of gigantic explosive darts that blows up when touched by the rose

Yeah, it looks just like a helmet with two horns and a rose.

In essence Lucifer is a Quiver.
It holds (and infinatly replenishes) a stock of demonic blades.

These are mainly stabbing/pearcing weapons but can also be used as arrows (due to their slender nature). These explode when the wearer commands (via clapping or the throwing of the Rose, but also when there are too many blades in existance in which the oldest one generated explodes to allow for new stock.

Lucifer is an exotic Devil Arm.

It is an apparatus worn on one of the shoulders and generates unlimited detonating demonic blades. The rose thrown signifies the explosion, while the clapping can rearrange the blades or detonate them.

The blades are stored magically inside the apparatus, as Dante seems to lean his hand from his back when attacking with Lucifer.
