I don't think scaring someone using hell when they are fragile and wanting to kill themselves is a good idea. Fine to say, killing yourself is a sin, but also say how much that person would be missed, and how many more experiences in life are still out there, and how things will get better even if it seems really bad at the moment.
Yes, say it is a sin, but put more emphasis on how valued the person is, how the family loves them and would miss them if they died.

Anecdotal, but a friend of mine was brought up with the idea that anything she did wrong would send her to hell. As a result, she is still going to therapy even as an adult to get over this, and does not speak to her parents and accuses them of child abuse for this. Pretty extreme extreme....I didn't know having faith could mess someone up so badly.

Yeah as a Christian I'm slowly leaving it. Christianity or Christians try to simplify things but I feel the world is more complex than they make it seems and that they're going by old day teachings/principles (that for the most part talks about sh*t that happens in the Middle East).

Plus my Physics teacher says that each preacher has their own point of view on what the Bible says and whatnot so who can you trust or who is right?

Funny I did research and in the Bible hell was never really brought as a place where sinners go to after death but rather a realm of death and absolution (I forgot what it was called in Judaism though).

There are plenty of religions and faith like Christianity that don't make it to the next generations.

What bothers me is hypocracy at church. People judging others while they do something worse. There was a scandal in my village when the local vicar had an affair.
Plus if the bible was followed exactly, people would be stoned to death for working Sunday...pretty extreme.

True. People pick and choose which part of the bible to use, and ignore others.

There isn't a hell like christians think. Judaism has a place called Sheol, but it's not hell. There's no punishing for bad deed, but every dead person, good or bad, goes to Sheol.

Christianity lasted so long and is so popular partly becayse the Emperor of Rome at the time, Constantine, converted to Christianity following winning a battle. So because the Romans conquered lots of countries, they also converted the conquered people to Christianity.

You mean he said you're selfish and going to hell for suicide? That's terrible. Besides, suicide isn't selfish. It's the only action in this world that a person can truly do for themselves, and I can understand why a person would want to do it.

Also, threatning people with hell is terrible. It's like a last resort to get followers into a religion. People should just live the best life they can, doing what they can to help others without constantly being afraid of hell.

I can easily believe in God,without someone forcing on me their laws and implementing fear in others,I barely think this is what religion should teach,they shouldn't make people fear hell or God,with this they control people's minds.
That's why I can say I don't have a particular religion,but I believe in a God.
Because,think of the Crusades,most horrible thing christians could do. How do you spread the message of love,tolerance and acceptance Jesus taught of,if you hold the cross in your right hand and the sword in your left hand? And destroying important cultures too..
No wonder Jesus baptized when he was 33 years old....we are baptized when we're born,nobody asks you if you believe in something else or you want to be converted to a certain religion,they basically force you into it.
I have morals,but what some christians and not only do...makes me sad.

That was terrible, all in the name of religion. Bad example to set to say 'we are christian' then start a war. The opposition, Saladin (a muslim), showed a better example. When Kind Richard was ill, he sent water and food for him and then made a truce.

You just follow the religion of your family. That is why religion has a rule to have many children. More children= more followers.

Peaceful relgion and peaceful worship is fine, but don't use god as an excuse to be a monster.
