F-bombs; What's the problem?

I heard it's between Mundus and Lilith? Mundus is a demon, but looks human. I guess if it's subtle enough it won't be considered "sex with demons" or "demonic sex" by some countries, but yea, you're right, Mass Effect's omgaliensideboob did upset a few censors in Asia I believe.

The PEGI system is crap. The way it's set out can mean a game previously considered to be a "15" rated here can easily become an "18". Unfortunately it's just become the main rating system here and I think it's replacing the previous one where games were rated along similar lines to films with context. Now it's just... does it tick this box, this box and this box? How many boxes? Oh, right, "18" it is, then, regardless of context, really.

Yer I know but as I said if it does hit the 18 mark then it will not be allowed in Australia unless they cut down on the content so much that it becomes a 15. They had to do that for Mortal Kombat 9 just so it could be released there.

And I think that as soon as they find out it is sex with a demon or demonic sex even if the demon looks human then it will probably be banned in a few countries.

Australia's beef with games is ridiculous. It's like their government can't be bothered to just create an adult rating for them, so anything mature can't be sold.

Which is exactly why a lot of gamers and film buffs hate it because they have to order from oversees and pay high prices to get the stuff in their original content or get a condensed/watered down version.

Actually I just checked up on it... apparently the government there just passed a bill for R18+ games to be allowed from January 2013 onward. Is this true? If so Aussies can finally stop having their freedom of choice crapped on by red tape.

lets think about it. if I was ever dragged into a demon world to fight to the Death. i kid you not, the f word would be the most polite word in my vocabulary. i mean think about it, if youve ever played the older silent hill and resident evil games you know how scary they can get and how vocal they make you.

seriously tho, i dont mind at all. if helps convey his immaturity cause hes still very young and has been abused his entire life. so yh he swears, im honestly surprised he inst high on crack the entire time. further more it also adds room to grow and develop as a character as he matures he swears less (like real people). Dante is not perfect. this is KEY as it means we can relate to him on a more personal level rather than just be amazed by him. theres room for that later. in a world where characters take drugs, kill hookers and are chronic alcoholics are we really gonna complain that a teenager swears?

I only the cussing as its not being used in a clever way or being witty etc.
People won't always say things in clever way it's life get used to it :troll:

How do you people always assume that cursing has anything to do with immaturity/maturity, it's not polite and it's a bad habit, but seriously - we all have bad habits, right?
To me Dante's actions speak louder than his words.

edit: otherwise I agree completely with you Masri :)

I don't mind that much that he swears... it wouldn't feel right in any of the previous games at all, but given the 'current' environment of DmC it does not seem out of place.

It only seems out of place for 'Dante' as you may imagine him now - if you take into account all his other appearances, as a character construct we have all built up from a knowledge of previous incarnations of him. But if you take DmC on its own, or the Dante from that as his own thing, it probably fits fine within his/that world. I doubt they will have him swearing every other minute of cutscene, anyway. NT will almost certainly be considering the implications of it, "how much is too much", etc.

They actually tried to pass it ether this year or last year but they pushed the date back of when they finally could sell R18+ games over there to January 2013. It makes me wonder how many more times they will push it back.

Well atleast PS3 games don't have regional codes, and in my country taxes make up 23% of products price/value, so for example if a game would cost me 100 euros taxes would take 23 euros, so without the taxes the price would be 77 euros, so around here it's actually cheaper to order from UK or Germany... That's the luxury of Finland, high taxes and government tries to rip you off in everywhere they can.

Well to order in Euros in the UK would be more expensive since 77 euros is about £61 and a game normally costs £40. So by the sounds of it it would be better to buy from another country.

DmC for sure contains elements not proper for 17 and under aged folks but this game is taking all of DMC's dark tones and mixing it with a prick. (Prick = DmC Dante)

Well they don't actually cost that much but it's still cheaper...anyways good luck with the R+18 :)

I know it was like a example and I get what you mean lol.

And I don't know why you are giving me luck. I am from the UK here lol

the thing is its not life and people are grading NT on their writing so you expect them to be a little better at it.
Enslaved was a funny game and it had little to no cursing.

Agreed. Enslaved hard hardly any cursing in it and the writing was good. But judging from the little bit we have from DmC it seems like swearing will be used a lot more in it.

I fully understand what you mean, but if you want a character to feel natural you can't make every sentence sound cool and calculated this is a good example:

the cursing in the new game seems...forced. if that's the right word

Most guys Dante's age in this game use cursing every chance they get. Just look at the show (God may it burn) Jersey Shore...ugh. Kinda got sick just mentioning it. Dante reminds me of a Jersey Shore guy or a ghetto kid. They curse because it's the only way to show they're no push over. It's they're way of trying to get tough with the cruel inviornment they live in and them showing that through curse words. Dante wants to show those demons that they ****ed up his life and he wants to rip them to pieces, and those demons will never take him seriously if he thows one liners like "This party's gettin crazy" or "I'm absolutely crazy about it." That's not the words of a guy who hates demons with all his heart and soul.
