What's with people saying that? "Dante cusses every ten seconds?" I've only sen him say F-you two times. TWO. Not all the time.

I think we can all agree we each have our own tastes and preferences on the subject. ^^ Some people don't mind it at all, others a little, some a lot. All it means is...we're different people lol.

I guess the series is definitely taking a more 'mature' route, then.

Incidentally I'm surprised actually how many younger players of DMC there are, or how many people play it with their younger siblings or kids nearby. I've always thought it was a fairly dark game and always contained 'mature' elements. The 'Hell' level alone in DMC1 would have been enough to have give me nightmares as a kid, with the giant heart and all those pulsating veins and doors that look like flesh diaphragms. The other games, too, contain moments of focused gore or violence I don't think wouldn't leave an impression on a kid, such as Dante being impaled or someone being cold-bloodedly murdered, etc.

I suppose it's this idea of games being something that kids take interest in and play, so it's inconvenient if a title starts to become more mature - which is quite a widely expressed viewpoint - but one I find kind of baffling. I view games as entertainment on the same level as movies now, and there are some movies I wouldn't let my kids or younger siblings watch simply because I know how much they can affect them (my parents didn't care, and I watched The Thing when I was six. Cheers for that, guys, 'cause I wish I hadn't). Maturity of games is something we're all just gonna have to deal with, I think.

The changing of Dante's character for something more brazen though is another matter, and one of personal taste, I guess.

Does the cursing make DmC mature?

for me, as far as game rating. But also to me it's more focused on the dark parts of DMC that haven't been touched since DMC1. It may not look as dark as DMC1 but it's more satire underbelly darkness and the feeling that everything around you could be an illiusion created by the people we put our trust into.

DMC4 did have a little milder cursing in it from Nero, (but it was pretty mild). The main difference for this one will be that there's 'nudity'/sex in it, which will definitely up the PEGI rating to "18" here, combined with the swearing.

He is younger and has a bad attitude. As long he is not swearing every other word whats the problem?

Nudity/sex?

Supposedly there's implied or part-shown sex in DmC, as well as the Dante getting dressed in midair scene (assuming those will definitely be in the finished game)? Even though it's not full frontal nudity - and I doubt actual sex will be fully shown - that is enough to have a game rated up here for mature content (along with swearing).

Is the sex between a human/demon, demon/angel or human/angel? If so then some countries will ban the game. Mass Effect was banned in two countries because of sex with an Alien in it and I think Lesbian sex and lesbian sex with an Alien so they will have a field day with DmC lol.

Also if DmC does become an 18 then it will probably not get released in Australia since any game that is rated 18 is banned there unless they censor the content. (I do not know if DMC1-4 got released there or not)

Oh brief nudity. Oh Now I get your point.
Yeah naked Dante still bothers me.

Yer it will become a 18 over here not just because of the swearing but because of the brief nudity which I think will put a lot of people off but will probably draw in the CoD and BF3 crowds

I heard it's between Mundus and Lilith? Mundus is a demon, but looks human. I guess if it's subtle enough it won't be considered "sex with demons" or "demonic sex" by some countries, but yea, you're right, Mass Effect's omgaliensideboob did upset a few censors in Asia I believe. (Because people will rush out and start having sex with aliens after playing the game, naturally).

The PEGI system is crap. The way it's set out can mean a game previously considered to be a "15" rated here can easily become an "18". Unfortunately it's just become the main rating system here and I think it's replacing the previous one where games were rated along similar lines to films with context. Now it's just... does it tick this box, this box and this box? How many boxes? Oh, right, "18" it is, then, regardless of context. . .
