Too armory IMO, but some of those effects might be nice for weapons, or maybe for Nero's DTs. They don't seem organic or demonic enough for Dante.

I was actually going to say the same thing. Not every DT needs armor.

there is a reason for the armor. what is Sparda called, he is the Legendary Dark Knight. the armor doesn't look like the armor a human knight would wear. it looks demonic and evil. imagine something that fits the description and would look cool on Dante then you will probably have an idea of what i am thinking of.

Sparda didn't wear armor, though. At least, it's never been hinted at. He was called a knight for his skill with the sword, not his appearance.

But that's a discussion for another time. Not right now.

the point is i think the armor would look cool. if i had any talent at drawing i would show you what i am thinking of. a description doesn't really convey the idea very well.

The crazy demon

Metal Gear Vindicare.
Water: The user takes a amphibian form, losing fingers and facial featueres, they get a sac under their neck(It looks like a bipedal toad :p).

Fire: The user, becomes a living flame, his body becomes all covered in fire and their features change, slender and more muscular limbs, their face change, losing things like a noce, their hair starts to wawe and become fire too, you may look the form on this DT is you get sprayed by water.

Ice:I got nothing now

Lightning: The user becomes like a black and blue lizard, several small fins grow in their back each one with a blue tip and the rest is black scales, lightnings jumps from each fin to fin while the user attacks creationg more energy.

Wind: Nothing

Earth: You become bulky, and will have cracks all over your body, green and red rays sometimes come out of the cracks, making minimal damage to the enemy(the reason of this is because the organs of the user fuse into a energy core that holds the stone, the bigger your healt bar the bigger the core, if you become critical the rocks in the chess will break and reveal the core, if you die, the core pulls the stones towards itself, and then explodes making the rocks diamond).

So...just because the designs looked very much alike, unlike DMC1 was to make the game harder?Nope.

Also,I suggest you read the DMC3 manga,a lot of your questions will be solved. You can find it almost anywhere, even on the net.

not the design, the knockback when you get hit, & the only thing canon other than the games is the anime, the manga & the novels aren't canon.

anyway, some of the designs listed here were nice, but some were too complicated & don't fit the DMC theme. I think the DT should have a striking resemblance to the demon that we killed to get his soul, or like Alastor, the demon that weilded/created that weapon. or like Ifrit & A&R, the demons that we're using as a weapon.

A knight is a military rank. I think Elton John is a knight, but I've never seen him wear armor.

IIRC, there was a concept for an earth DT in the DMC11 Graphic Edition book. It looked pretty badass.

it works, it looks nice, but I still prefer Alastor & Ifrit. its a shame we haven't seen a good DT since DMC2, DMC3 DT was ugly, Dante looked like an alien, in DMC4 he looked like a bug, though it was "acceptable" in DMC4, in DMC3 sometimes I don't DT just because I don't want to look at it. Corrupt Vergil looked great but it was waay overpowered, I felt like a god breezing through DMD when using him. the Majin form looked badass, I was hoping that Dante would awaken his true devil self in DMC4 to achieve his Majin form, I was actually expecting it before "the man with the devil bringer" teasers were released.

In the archaic European sense a 'knight' was a warrior (or member of feudal warrior nobility) following a code of honour/sworn loyalty to a lord or king, so I always assumed Sparda was known as the LDK for being the loyal warrior elite of Mundus, and later for being a legendary protector of humans (just transferring his status from one sworn loyalty to another I guess). The word knight has literal and metaphorical connotations, like "white knight" and such.

In his demon form he definitely does appear to have elements of a typical knight's armour plating built into his design, although obviously it looks more demonic and slightly less basically functional than human armour. His head appears to have a feature above the eyes suggesting the upper half of an armet to which his horns are attached or grow out from, and if you check out the DMC1 intro there is a large symmetrical (shiny) spike jutting directly out of his chest (modified breastplate?), and he appears to wear ornate poleyns on the knees and some kinds of pauldrons on the shoulder(s).

Devil Bane

God Slaying Blades
@ King : He was growing, back in DMC3.It's like swans : when they are babies, they are ugly but they manage to become beatifull swans.Same with his DT,he was weak, misshappen and had to grow.In DMC 1 he had fully grown, but we never saw gis "base"/real Demonic form due to the elemental DTs we had.In DMC4,assuming they just bettered the graphics or that he still had room to grow in power before DMC2,that's what his Devil Form is like.

In DMC4 it was fine, nothing wrong with it.[Opinion.Also Dread DT was pure bad4ss for me.]

@ Lexy : Apart from his design,I think the title is also given to him for the same reason Batman is called the "Dark Knight" and the "Caped Crusader".It's just a title to show that he,like knights and samurai, protected the innocent.

Dreadnaught was badass I agree.

DMC2 had awsome designs for Dante & his Devil Trigger, its a shame how boring the game was. DMC2 had the best general DT design (his face screamed "experience"), while the original had the best elemental DT. DMC3 tried something new, but everyone hated the design, & since most fans agree that the best looking DT was in DMC2, they tried to make Dante's DT in DMC4 resemble it while changing key elements, instead, they changed everything that made it look badass. at least its not aweful to look at it, I don't mind it, that's all.

King of Hell

Must Die
I read it, but I'm not sure they meant for the DT to be ugly in DMC3, they probably made a bad choice. it could work as an explanation though.

Devil Bane

God Slaying Blades
^They partially meant it.The DT designer[for 3] is the same guy that works as a character and monster designer for the MegaTen Series. And in the DMC3 the only "beautifull" DT is the semi-awakened DT.

King of Hell

Must Die
don't you remember how the DT designs were hyped? when they said some hotshot designer was gonna design them in exchange for putting Dante in Atlas.

Which one is that? The one belonging to Dante on top of Temen-Ni-Gru?

Devil Bane

God Slaying Blades
^They did?The rumors[in my country that is,I wasn't even aware of how good DMC was] were that "maybe" the long time character and monster designer Kazuma Kaneko would make the designs of the DTs because he was a fan of DMC and got Capcom to put Dante in Shin MegaTen : Nocturne 3 Special[Lucifer's Call in the west].

And :

Knock yourself out guys.

It seems that the blood of his children is necessary for the weapons to fully awaken and it also seems that the swords must be impaled to the children so that the children will awaken their DTs.Either is fine.Dante could end up with Yamato and Vergil with Rebellion, both would work, but history says different.

King of Hell

Must Die
I think it was just a regular ritual, they don't need to be impaled, they just need to be mixed, the blood & the swords, that is.

Devil Bane

God Slaying Blades
Dante didn't get his full DT until he was stabbed. And Vergil was stabbed without having the chance of just giving blood,so...none can say the opposite unless the official sources etc...
