He seemed a bit too consistent throughout DMC4. He just kept being facetious, never changed his attitude much. But then, I think that was the case in DMC3 as well.
So... I'd say he's about as good as in DMC3. I like his outfit and looks more, as well. Wow, that sounded gaayyyyy. Didn't like his devil form that much, though. It didn't even morph to correspond with the weapons you use.

Meh, insignificant points. I thought he was pretty good.

yeah, DMC3's dante was pretty good. I didn't enjoy him as much as DMC4 dante, but he does go through a very dramatic and awesome character growth. DMC4's dante just kinda stays the same for the whole game, and while there's nothing wrong with that, I feel like it could have been better

Still, you'd have to be really bored with your life to act like a child.

If he's become an ultimate being, I would've preferred a story arc where Dante becomes corrupted.
Think about it, it could be great.

After defeating Mundus, Dante goes mad with his new found powers, similar to that of Vergil.
When being challenged by the Order of the Sword's, a group who solely focuses on keeping Sparda's name in good graces, Dante attacks their leader.

Unbeknownst to Dante, a young man named Nero is a part of this group.
Nero, you could say, joined the Order of the Sword's purely out of curiosity to know more about demons, since he is aware of his demonic abilities, but does not know there origins.

Ultimately, the game could have been a fight for The Order's survival between Dante and Nero where the player controls Nero on a personal journey to understand who he is, while having relationship problems with Kyrie, and the ultimate fate of the world during his fight with Dante.
Not only that, he could also be deciding his how to use his power and how to master it. But not just mastering it, but learning to use it at the right times and when necessary, unlike his family of Dante and Vergil.

Now... I just came up with that in five minutes, and I feel like it's better than DMC4's plot already. What do you think?
Yes what you just came up with is completely better than the dmc4 story. We all know capcom would never do that though. Thats too good.

I just liked DMC3 Dante better because i thought he had more potential as a character than his older self. But the fact that his older self was played as a has-been who has to live vicariously through his nephew/clone whatever made me wish we were back with young Dante.

I just thought he was lame and just played out. He didn't have a role or a strong reason to be there other than tradition which is pointless to me.

Thats the best cut scene in the game. Just like i said. Dante has nothing to do. Every boss every enemy he could have killed in one hit. Hes surpassed his father Sparda by a long shot. Hes the ultimate being.
See, I would argue that if that's true then it's time to hang up Dante's guns. If he's the ultimate being then there's nothing left to do with him. Time for Capcom to give Dante's son a shot like Kamiya had planned.

It could actually work out great if handled correctly... new main character so new abilities and gameplay mechanics would be easier to implement. Also being a new character he wouldn't start off as a god so would be easier for newcomers to relate. The character isn't completely brand new and is directly related to Dante so in theory it should be easier for old fans to accept... And perhaps he could learn about who his father was in the game thus explaining some of the questions that still persist for Dante. Hell, if you really want to give fans a reason to orgasm and speculate imply he was trained by a mysterious swordsmen that just happened to share a lot of similarities to Vergil.

Then again... first Nero, then DmC, then another new main? I'm not sure how fans would react...

I've been following this series for far too long... (I need a life)

See that's the same mistake old Dante went through. Starting out as a powerful guy, and treating everything easy. That's not always good. He's gotta start out small. Also how is him starting out as a god relatable for new comers?

Your post is... kinda the complete opposite of what my post actually says... I even say clearly "Also being a new character he wouldn't start off as a god".

But either way, it's just a half baked idea off the top of my head. No reason to put any thought into it as clearly what some random guy (me) says on a forum isn't going to affect DMC.

Honestly i think they could redo the whole dmc series. I dont mean a reboot but actually remake the games so that they will make sense and also make them in order exept from having the series go 3,1, 2,4. If they did this then they could make Dante seem more realistic, because you and i both know it dosnt make sense how Dante was so serious in dmc2 then in dmc 4 hes all happy and sunshine. I honestly think capcom made dmc4 dante so happy and cocky just to cater to dmc3 fans.

i think Capcom should remake 2 and make a second season to the anime to explain what happens between 4 and 2 that makes dante that way

I liked Dante the first time I played DMC4 but after the first playthrough he became rather stale and too immature as I'd have preferred something like the first Dante - serious yet witty/cocky at points not all the goddamn time!

Madness! That's just Madness! :P I like the Nero part, but Dante going bad? No way!! Yes, he does act like an ignorant child- that I hate. But his laid back demeanor is a nice one- he just needs to be more mature, in my opinion!

I think Capcom should put the stories in order- it's a bit confusing! But I still love Capcom!!

May I present to you...Evil Nero. (yes, that's Johnny Yong Bosch)

lol Why's that?
I know they made it too difficult to play- except Leon's story. So, I don't really play it...
Its just uggh for one its not survival horror you can argue that 5 wasn't either but then capcom made Revelations which was a step in the right direction but in 6 nothing is scary you can breeze through the game with plenty of ammo i'm happy with my old RE games people want Capcom to remake 2 and 3 i don't because they would mess it up and the put the new personalities on the characters
