It has already been established that the new Dante is not exactly the same as the original Dante, but is more of an alternate/parallel world version of the same character, right? Then why should it be any different with Rebellion and Ebony & Ivory? Would you be more accepting of this new Dante and the new Devil May Cry if the weapons looked more like their original counterparts? Would it change your views on the game?
Dante's new sword looks more organic which fits with its shapeshifting ability. It does look alot more simplistic and lighter than the original Rebellion and the blade is thinner, looking more like a broadsword than a zweihander. The original Rebellion was not Japanese looking, but this new sword is, imo. The original Rebellion looked alot more like a European medieval zweihander, being big and heavy, while the new sword with its lighter look fits more the weaponry used in old Asia.
Subject64 basically covered what I meant but let me add on to it.
Its not like I was asking that they make the rebellion look EXACLTY like it did before.
And no, I would not be more accepting of this game if they looked more like their original counterparts.
It will take alot more than just changing weapons to make me accepting of this game.
What I was saying and what you seemed to have completely ignored is the fact that they kept the core aspect of Ebony and Ivory intact.
Would be it totally out of the realm for them to have done the same with the Rebellion?
After all, Ebony and Ivory do indeed look different in this game, but atleast people would still be able to identify that they are indeed Ebony and Ivory by looking at them.
Looking at this sword, many DMC fans would not even know that it was the rebellion.
I certainly had not clue until that link was posted.
This is all just my opinion on the matter.
Its ok that you think this rebellion is cool and like it.
I myself would probably be more accepting of it if it did not have the rebellion name tagged on to it.
