DmC: Eastern to Western

Eastern and western culture really aren't that different at all. In fact, a great part of Japan's contemporary culture is from the combination of North American and European influences. It's evolved greatly from its origins. Japan has changed greatly throughout history overall. Hell, that nation is a freaking post-war economic miracle. I think I'm just getting off topic.

The thing is with DmC, it's just trying to appeal to more than just the anime crowd. Getting rid of anime flamboyant flare and gaudy costumes just in favor of something more contemporary. That's pretty much it. It's Devil May Cry, just less animeish.
Again, what's with the term of 'animeish' ? This is again stereotyping.I don't know if you watch them or read manga but there are tons of anime that differ and don't have what supposed to be 'anime cliches' .I find outfits with style more fitting to characters which have their own style afterall.
And since when is DMC considered an anime looking game? Look at Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy. Not that I care how a game looks as long as it's interesting, but I don't see why people find this so disturbing or a bad thing. It's just an alternative design and DMC combines both realistic with fantasy.
DMC revolves(as well as DmC) around supernatural aspects,so it's clear it has some fantasy touches to it.And hell, more originality then.

In Japan exists the Lolita style which is a Victorian European style, but they have their own trends too like visual key and such which were also taken by western people, and believe me,many europeans, north americans and not only like it.

Also I didn't know you have to be an anime fan to enjoy DMC. My dad likes DMC and he doesn't even know what's an anime.Does that include him in the Anime crowd?

And? Isn't social stereotyping people the norm? And better yet, this is a video game character, not a real person. Dante doesn't represent us as a society stereotype because he doesn't exist in our society, nor does he even exist. He's a video game creation with his own created society.
You can relate video game situations in real life also, just like saying Dante is gay just because he dresses in a certain way.You also see this in our society,if someone wears something that's out of norm they're labeled.

Are you gonna seriously say it's not like an anime in its own right? I'm not saying you have to be an anime fan to enjoy Devil May Cry but it does give off an anime vibe and is popular amongst that crowd. You can't go to an anime convention without seeing at least 50 Dantes there. If you don't think DMC is like an anime in its own right then I don't know what to tell you. Have you played them? I'm not saying it was a bad thing though.

I'm an anime fan myself and I play games which don't have an anime vibe at all.
I want them to be good and have a good story,I don't care if they look anime or not, see?
And not really,I've seen cosplayers that were grown up adults and even cosplayed with people from other series that weren't in an anime fandom.Cosplay is for everyone and for everything, not only for anime.
What does make you say it's like an anime?More importantly, what do you consider it to be anime?
Anime=japanese animation. DMC= video game based on supernatural
The appereance doesn't give me any anime feels either, just because a character has white hair (which is found in anime as well) doesn't make them anime. What about Storm from X-men,she had white hair too.Is she from anime? No.
What does it make it so anime?Because animes differ from what I know and I have watched.

DMC1 and 2 didn't really have an anime vibe to it to me. DMC3 and 4 on the otherhand, had a pretty thick anime vibe going for them in the cutscenes, most notably with DMC3 Vergil's "dice a dozen enemies in a second who drop dead on on cue to him slowly sheathing his sword" cutscene, or DMC4 Dante's Gilgamesh and Yamato cutscene. Things like that a bit more toned down in DmC.

I don't think only in anime you see that, but to judge it only from a cutscene..err.. DMC4 Dante didn't look 'anime' to me though.

True, but there's a difference to someone dressing differently, and wearing this in public.

Those were the most notable cutscenes of the trope. Most of DMC3 and 4's cutscenes are pretty anime-ish (which occasionally, isn't a good thing).

I've never seen those particular tropes I noted in anything outside of anime and maybe samurai/kungfu movies. Also it's not really about the look or the plot. IMO, DMC has always been rather western in aesthetics. DMC3 and 4 become more a "eastern takes on western ideas with anime trappings".

As well as someone who wears this :

And you guessed right, each photo represents someone in a certain style. And also guess what, nobody gives a damn.
Dante is a heroic figure and a half-demon,half-human,and he is dressed better then the persons in the two pics.
And I'm pretty sure some of those people get a lot of double takes. Dante has a gaudy sense of fashion and in DMC 4 he was like a gaudy Vegas rodeo clown. That outfit was ridiculous. He's wearing more leather than a gimp. It's just so stupid.

Now tell me,if you say DmC is more contemporary, why is Vergil wearing clothes like those?
Where on earth you see rich men wearing such clothes? Most likely they dress like business men and not like some elegant prince. And guess why, because he has his own style and preference.

One of those belts is probably to hold his pistol sheaths and one of course to keep his pants up, but wtf are the other belts for?

I am one of those who likes DMC4 Dante's attire though, even if it is a little gaudy and seems to have a belt fetish.

But are any of those people called gay? well yeah, sure, but there's still the difference of Dante and the people you've shown. attitude also counts in this and attitude can add to it as such. But we'll probably never know how Dante would be perceived on a look, attire, and characteristic level because, again, he's not real.

He wears clothes most likely you see at motorcyclists.Plus the coat which we known is a trend in DMC/DmC games. Now that you don't like it doesn't mean it's such a bad choice on its own.

I'm pretty sure they struggled with the concept society has about eccentricity and having your own style and more than this I'm sure they were called freaks, gays, satanic. And don't tell me it's not true because I've experienced with a lot of my friends.
Of course, but when you see people cosplaying nobody is whining about them being dressed in a certain way.And nobody should because It;s not like forcing it on them.

That's not biker fashion. I don't know who wears that when cruising around on a Harley or something. Yea, it looks stupid.
Those are biker pants,it's leather and has a lot of zippers. Where the hell did you see leather and zipper and such at a cowboy?
Don't assume it looks stupid just because you don't like it personally.
