Can DMC and DmC coexist? Defending both sides.

I think that if they were to release a DMC, it would make allot of money, kinda like the new Coke strategy, but it might antagonize part of the fanbase.
Unless you're talking about the new DmC(Dee Ehm See) then it's actually DmC that's antagonizing people.

I mean, look at how emotional people get trying to defend this game.

That's what I meant, the underdog mentality of our newest fans will cloud their judgment. Either way, someone's getting mad.

I'm sorry if this was too graphic...censored out the best I could.

My off-topic sense is tingling....please try to keep things on track, guys. Thank you.

Personally, I think DmC and DMC should coexist. I see no reason why one series should die so the next can live on.

As long as Capcom is able to fund both series, why not? They used to do it with Megaman (until they completely wrecked him over).

That's a very nicely put post DMCGamer, even if I don't agree with everything about it. Good one.

The main problem with Classic DMC continuing are Capcom's claims that nobody originally involved in the series wants to continue it anymore (Mainly because they systematically drove away most of the series's creators), and Itsuno claims (publically at least) that he doesn't want to work on the Classic universe.

Unless a new team is constructed to continue the original series, it doesn't seem terribly likely. If Itsuno was made to help with that project then he'd have to pull double-duty on DmC as well, seeing as NT apparently can't be expected to make a combat system themselves.

I reckon if Itsuno pulled his thumb out and made DmC's gameplay more challenging with greater depth in future people wouldn't be quite as hostile to it, but it would still leave me to deal with Antonaides's writing, which I find intolerable.

TLDR; Classic DMC probably can't come back, DmC2 needs deeper gameplay and Neil Gaimen writing it.
I don't think we'd ever see Neil Gaiman working on a Devil May Cry game. It's a nice idea but I don't even think this stuff is even on his radar.

I think Neil's always demonstrated that he's got a broad appreciation for various mediums, so wrangling him into a videogame project probably wouldn't be too great a feat. What's more, he's demonstrated a fondness for the kinds of fantasy themes DmC has: Parallel worlds, the power of birthright, unlikely romance, urban fantasy and esoteric magical rules, all that good stuff. The real problem would be getting him to work with NT.

Another good option for a person to take the writing reins would be Ben Aaronovitch, seeing as DmC is essentially Rivers of London if it were a shallow power fantasy for teenagers.
