So me trying to reunite the Devil May Cry community is considered ranting? I let everyone know I was Anti-DmC upfront to show that I was willing to put our differences aside for better of the community. I want to stop this pointless fighting/flaming/trolling that has been going on between DMC and DmC fans who are under the same franchise. It's pitiful. It's gives Devil May Cry fans a bad reputation. It's makes every fan look immature. So in the end we, as the Devil May Cry community, ALL lose.
I have zero (ZERO) idea why you're even on the forum. Zilch. You're entire purpose is to reunite the DMC community. You make seem like we're at each others throats and along comes you, The Saviour. I've pointed out before that this forum is very respectable and has created threads outlining what's good and bad about the game.

There are members on who don't even like DmC or think much of it, BUT, since I disagree with some of their points it doesn't mean the community is divided and torn apart which now needs re-uniting. As far as I know, everyone has already come to the conclusion whether to buy or not but still respect the game in general. You're trying to reunite a community that isn't even torn apart. YouTube comments sure as hell don't count. Instead of you telling me what you think, you tell me what you think based on Adam Sesslers review or what users say on Metacritic(of all sites). I'm telling you now, I don't care what you have to say until you play the game because you have most minimal knowledge of the game yourself yet seem to insist you know what you're talking about. Especially when you talk about the combat....

Also when you talk about Tekken
1) No. You cannot give a pass to Namco Bandai for allowing such glitches to happen in the first place. If you're gonna bash Capcom because of DmCs demo glitch then stick to your rule and bash Nintendo (Zelda glitches), Namco (Tekken glitches), Bethesda (Fallout) etc.
2) No. You cannot let Namco Bandai (get away) with having an online pass because they gave you some other crap in return which cancels out the online pass
3) Those characters were already on the disc.

Could it not sell under it's own merits instead using Devil May Cry's name?
I made this point earlier as to why this wouldn't work.
People can be morons.

Example:
Lets say we have DMC1,2,3,4 and this new game 'Demon Hunter X' (DmC)
Demon Hunter X is released and I GUARANTEE you 100%, that this game will be called a rip-off of DmC. 100% I know that'll happen.
As it stands this game is apparently
....changed cosmetically and mechanic wise to the point of it being completely unrecognizable.
OK so Demon Hunter X comes out and I know that that people will then say.
"Ah yeah that Demon Hunter X (DmC) game is total rip-off. Look the dude protagonist has guns and a sword. Is named Dante, has a brother named Vergil. Makes smartarse remarks. Is cocky. Has a long coat and is fighting a dude named Mundus. It's pretty much a DMC game. The combat has weapon switches, jump cancels similar moves with the same name. The same currency (ORBS), has a similar upgrade system. Total rip-off from DMC1234."
I know THAT would happen. But that's the thing this game isn't called Demon Hunter X is it? It's called DmC, now do you see why I think this whole thing is stupid? Because this game isn't "completely unrecognizable" as you put but far more to the original series than you'd probably like to admit.

I've seen games like Castlevania:LoS called a rip-off of Shadow of The Colossus for having 2 (TWO) titan bosses. Also being a rip-off of God of War for having similar combat.

I've seen games like Darksiders called a rip-off of Zelda because it uses the same formula and elements of that series. Like using Dungeons, Inventory style and riding on horseback.
I know that if Demon Hunter X came out it would be called a rip-off of DMC1234, yet those seem to think it's "completely unrecognizable" despite the insane amount of similarities to the older games SHOWING that NT took a lot of time to stay faithful but recreate the game.

I understand where you are coming from. The original DMC was going to be a Resident Evil game. Eventually I guess developers seen they had something unique and they made a new title. I mean...couldn't that have happened for DmC?

IMO this game wouldn't have gotten the backlash/hype if it weren't a "Devil May Cry" game. DmC may not appeal to me personally but I do respect it as art and what the story is trying to do. DMC never took it's story TOO seriously but had awesome gameplay in return. If DmC were it's own game that was compared to "Devil May Cry" for it's gameplay but with unique story then everything would be fine. The flame war would have never begun thus the fanbase would have never divided.

Let's be honest. If you went to Pizza Hut (or it's equivalent) on a Friday night expecting pizza and then the cashier tells you "We don't sell pizza anymore. To compete with the likes of Mcdonalds and Burger King we only sell burgers now. We know our customers really want these new hamburgers more than our pizzas so you should give it a shot." You would probably be disappointed and leave without buying anything. You would likely be upset if others customers Trolled/flamed you for wanting a pizza ...from Pizza Hut lol

That's what it was like for many of us Anti-DmC people. We don't mind change but within reason. DmC changed cosmetically and mechanic wise to the point of it being completely unrecognizable. That's not bad for Capcom/NT for wanting to take a risk but they could have taken the same risk under a different name. That is...if the game is as good as the reviews say it is. From what I heard from reviewers/Pro-DmC fans is that the game is fun. Could it not sell under it's own merits instead using Devil May Cry's name?

As far a the original DMC story they could have further developed Nero, had a game with Virgil or make a game about that Sparda fellow who we never get to see but hear is bada**. I believe they still had/have potential with the old story. Once again just my opinion please don't flame me!!!XD
Lol Don't worry i'm not going to flame you. You make a very valid point and if this game had a similar story with the exact same mechanics, it would likely still be on my radar, admittedly, the fact that it's a DMC game makes me pay attention significantly more. And your right the flame war would probably never exist had this been a continuation of the original DMC's storyline. For me personally I am pretty sure I would not have payed nearly any attention to it were it DMC 5(unless Vergil was the main character), after not being really pleased with DMC4 and my general distaste for Capcom and the majority of the Japanese development studios I once loved.

I do get your analogy though and it's perfectly valid and I dont think your wrong at all for having it. It's pretty much the same reason I skipped Ninja Gaiden 3 even though it is one of my favorite series. I do however disagree with the implication that Capcom is trying to sell a new IP by riding the coat tails of DMC, to me it would seem far cheaper and more profitable to make DMC5 and in my opinion further dilute the series and make it more irrelevant like they seem to be doing with the Resident Evil series. This move to me says that they did have genuine intentions of actually giving the series a new Lease on life, or at least the people who are in charge of the DMC series over there or have a say so as to what happens to it.

Not saying you or anyone else has to like it because of that of course. I would also hope that Capcoms states that this game does not replace the original are true and that this will simply be the DMC equivalent to Megaman Legends or Megaman X or any of the other numerous series they have that have their own sub series within it. Because I would still really love to play another DMC game in the main series if it fixed a few of the issues I had with them. Or I would even probably have less of an issue with them since having two separate DMC series would mean I could get totally different things out of each.

Example:
Lets say we have DMC1,2,3,4 and this new game 'Demon Hunter X' (DmC)
Demon Hunter X is released and I GUARANTEE you 100%, that this game will be called a rip-off of DmC. 100% I know that'll happen.

"Ah yeah that Demon Hunter X (DmC) game is total rip-off. Look the dude protagonist has guns and a sword.

I sorta doubt that happening. Because if demon hunter X had guns which has a charge shot and swords it will definitely be clled a rip-off of megaman X.
"Ooh! Jump canceling! It must be Megaman's wall climb!"
"He is sucking out the weapons off the boss!"
"Look! that elite banker has a bald head like Sigma!"

...Sorry, I lose trying to make a joke. lol

Okay reality check. You have been a member of the forums for a couple months. (Hello! ^_^) I've been around for three years. There are plenty of members who have been around longer than me as well. And hardly any of those people post anymore. While some people (like meh) are really busy and just don't have time to dedicate to an online community, many others left because of the rift DmC caused. In fact, part of my decision to take a break, was because of the rift. (Although I'm bored waiting for school to start up again >_<.)

Here's what the forum was like before DmC was announced. Lots of happy chatter about a variety of topics (admittedly not much was about DMC). There was some drama, like with all forums, but the drama was generally caused by a single person who would always get banned in the end. Generally, it was a happy place.

Then DmC gets announced and the Internet exploded. Our site was just one in many that was going through the same thing. People were mad about the new direction. Some even furious. There were a same number of people who were excited about it. They got stomped on and many left. Some stuck it out and are still here today. As more info about the game was announced, people's minds started to change. A lot of people on this site started to really like it. Some hated it even more. Over time, with more people excited for the game signing up, this became a "Pro-DmC" site. Other site's became "Anti-DmC."

That's the thing. While this site is largely in harmony, that's because about 90% of the people on the site are pro-DmC. A lot of the older members not interested in the game left, or just don't post as much anymore. This site may not seem that divided, but that's because so many people who dislike DmC don't post here. It happened to every site. This forum favors DmC. Others don't. Yes, each of those sites have some people who feel differently than the majority, but, like I said, 90% of the members on each site have the same stance.

This game has caused the DmC fandom to segregate itself. DmC fans, go to devilmaycry.org, DmC not-fans, go to....I don't know: some other website. That's essentially what Robert is saying.

Example:
Lets say we have DMC1,2,3,4 and this new game 'Demon Hunter X' (DmC)
Demon Hunter X is released and I GUARANTEE you 100%, that this game will be called a rip-off of DmC....snip for space

Now hold on a second. If DmC was made as a brand new IP, it would not have those similarities. It would not have characters named Dante, Vergil, and Mundas. It fact, it probably wouldn't have a guy with a big sword on his back and twin guns. It might not even be about killing demons. It could be called Hack 'n Slash X. ("Demon Hunter X" sounds like a failed game on the PSVita or something. O_o) Sure, gameplay would still be similar, but all the moves signature of Devil May Cry would be absent (like million stab). Take out the names and moves that make this game "Devil May Cry" and it becomes a completely new action game. That's the thing here. All those other little DMC tidbits people notice, heck all the DMCish things in general, are there because it has to be a Devil May Cry came. This game could have easily been a new IP.

My friend, this is what has happened all throughout history whenever a controversial event happens.
Take the African American Civil Rights Movement for instance. There was a fairly influential group of people who hated African Americans, and most people thought they were weird and different, due to the influence of the influential group. Now, on the flip side, you had, for example, Martin Luther King Jr., who was a moderate, he had a dream that "four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." Short version, he wanted African Americans to integrate themselves into American society (which has happened in case you did not know lol). You also had the infamous Malcolm X, who many claim to be a black supremacist, his story is that not only are African Americans better than white Americans, but repeatedly insulted Whites. (Malcolm X later changed his views to become a moderate after becoming a practicing muslim).

This scenario has repeated throughout human history many times, and this is no different. The "Hardcore DMC" fans (the ones that hate the game) are telling all of the other people in the gaming community to hate DmC. Now, you have the DmC fans that take it too far, just like Malcolm X. The ones that insult the DmC Dislikers (notice I did not say haters) and say that not only is DmC better than the DMC games, but that they are stupid for not liking DmC (DmC Supremacists lol). Finally, you have the people like MLK Jr., who one day hope that DmC: Devil May Cry will one day, successfully, integrate into the Devil May Cry series.

As for your question to if I every trolled someone who did not like DmC, well, short answer: yes.
"I did many things as a [DmC Fanboy] that I'm sorry for now. I was a zombie then ... pointed in a certain direction and told to march" - Me paraphrasing a Malcolm X quote.

Second off...The "Savior"? Name one time I said that. I'm just a fan of the franchise that cares about the community of fellow gamers. Does my presence on this forum bother you or something? What have I done to you? I have come here with no intention to fight anyone.

The fanbase is divided. The youtube comments you mentioned were DMC/DmC fans fighting each other. Some of the trailers for DmC had the comments disabled for that reason. There was a backlash from the old DMC fans. Pro-DmC guys defended the game. That 8BitHero is a division. If I recall correctly some pro-DmC guys came into Event Status youtube video about Devil May Cry video (At the time he had made that video a year prior) and started flaming/trolling in the comments. A Pro-DmC fan who has done nothing but try to discredit me(Pro-DMC) since I got on these forums? Even saying, "I don't care what you have to say until you play the game because you have most minimal knowledge of the game." So I (as a person) am irrelevant...because I haven't played DmC (a video game)? *smh* We're done here 8BitHero. Have a nice day.

I played the games in order. 3,1,2 (Didn't have DMC 4) Loved DMC 3, Liked DMC (HUGE adjustment since I played DMC3 first lol) and DMC 2 was ok. Not a bad game but when compared to the other 2 games it stinks!!!XD I guess since I played DMC 4 after DMC 2 I was just happy to have a funny Dante back. I mean sure DMC 4 Dante was kinda cheesy at times but I welcomed it after stoic coin flipping DMC 2 Dante. That's probably why I hold DMC 4 in such high regard.

I guess I'm one of the few people that enjoyed DMC 4 lol I say all that to ask...What displeased you about DMC 4? I'm. intrigued

We all make mistakes. I wished the game well but I still hoped it would bomb!!!XD LMAO

Interesting post nonetheless. Just because I don't like the game doesn't mean I don't want others to enjoy it. I hope you enjoy the game when you get it!=]

So I can't by DmC just because some people think capcom is bad? if that's one of the things your saying, it's no different then Capcom telling people to by their games.

I get your point, but...I just wanna have fun with games, not have a complete debacle on why getting it would mean evil.:/

I know exactly how you feel. I just want have fun with games too. There is a loop hole. If you were to buy DmC used you can enjoy the game AND Capcom doesn't see the profits.

You don't have to do that though. I you want a new copy then buy a new copy. Just remember to remember what you didn't like while you were playing (all games have flaws lol) and bring it up on here so we, as a community, can have a potential chance to change that issue in future games.

I think he's referring to the fanbase on this forum. We're not divided here, far from it actually. The majority of the people who are arguing about this back and forth aren't even on this forum. Well, except for a select few who keep making threads about what antis are up to and trying to incite them like it's their job or something, which I happen to find quite comical since they're giving the antis the attention they want.

But I honestly couldn't care less how much anyone argues about this because it's an argument neither side can win and it's simply idiotic. I swear it's like watching elementary school children argue about a toy.

Well me and DMC 4 have a weird love hate relationship. I loved with the heat of 1000 suns going into bloody palace and just killing demons. I loved the boss fights against Dante and Credo, honestly that combat system in that game is what I lived for for while playing it.

I hated first and foremost, the really generic level design, not just talking about the fact that half the game was a reverse play through with Dante but the very generic look of all the castle area's(i'm an illustrator and concept artist so this might just bug me more than most lol) the generic fire area, forest area, frost area. I liked the European city streets, I hated the fact that I had to fight all the bosses 3 times if your lucky, my first playthrough, I fought that frog boss like 7 times thanks to level 19....

I really hated Dante's character design, it seemed just very expected and played out to me. Almost as if it were a parody of what a "cool" DMC character should look like. I also hated Nero's character design for two reason. First he looked like a color swap of Dante and two, his overall design did not fit well into the created fiction of the world he inhabited. Even if he is a rebel character the fact that he did not look like he belonged in Fortuna at all really irked me a lot. It was as if they were designing him just for the sake of looking like Dante. I also really hated Trish/ Gloria in that game and even more than that, I hated how they redesigned Lady as well. In terms of art direction DMC4 was a big mess to me.

Story, although not something I care all too much about in a DMC game was still very bad to me. It made no sense at all and the whole Nero Vergil mystery just got on my nerves and seemed pointless. I also really did not like how over the top anime action hero Dante had become. I had no problem with it in DMC3 as he was only like 20 but the fact that he still seemed exactly the same as his 20 year old self annoyed me. Nero was no better as his personality was just a slightly more serious version of Dante's and the rest of the cast was laughable at best, Sanctus being the second worst bad guy in the series imo, especially after coming from DMC3 with the cool character dynamic between Vergil and Dante.

I also felt that as much as I loved the Combat, Dante's was just not enough of an evolution or change from 3, I appreciate being able to switch between weapons and styles on the fly but as far as weapons go none of them were particularly interesting or new, Lucifer and Pandora being the exception. To me it looked as though the entire game was designed with Nero in mind and Dante was thrown in there out of fear of ****ing off fans for not having him be part of the game. I would have rather had Nero have a more robust move set and 20 levels to himself then what we got because I felt his gameplay mechanics had a lot of serious potential that was not explored.

So for me, the battle system was pretty much the only reason I played that game and the fact that I had waaay more fun with Nero than Dante was a shame to me personally and really turned me off to the series along with all the other issues I had with the level design, story and art direction

Enter stuff here

Part 1) But the segregation is pointless. My point is that it does infact cater to the series yet already has people against it. It really doesn't need that level of divide.
Whether the community is divided up or not should not impact on what you think of a game.
As for the "rift". I've been lurking on this forums since 2010(as I stated when I joined) and it was pretty empty. I only signed up once the demo came out as it was more active then due to a new game.
And while I admit I'm wrong in that there is a divide I don't consider YouTube comments to be worth anything.

Part 2) My point is that if we called DmC something else but kept in everything as it is, it would be called a rip-off and compared to how similar it is to DMC1234(with the points I mentioned). But the fact this is a DmC with so many similarities to the previous titles is pointless to be annoyed over.If this was a completely brand new IP with everything the same but a different name, people would compare this to DMC1234 with what this game offers. Even if they kept the names Rebellion, Ebony and Ivory etc. This means that it's actually closer to the original games. It wouldn't be unique. Robert wuz Here made a point about it being 'completely unrecognisable' yet I was able to show that game really isn't and stays faithful to the series.

Second off...The "Savior"? Name one time I said that. I'm just a fan of the franchise that cares about the community of fellow gamers. Does my presence on this forum bother you or something? What have I done to you? I have come here with no intention to fight anyone.
Your presence doesn't bother me in anyway. It bothers me when people talk about opinions based on what other people have told them. Rather than going to experience it for themselves.
Anyone who completely fanboys/girls it up is just as bad as any hater. It's blind hatred of the opposition. When I disagree with you, it's not "I hate you" but "you should try to see it from this angle as it's really not that bad". Everytime I see someone flagging anti-DmC comments makes me facepalm because then people who like the game are given a bad label. In the same way those who don't like the game are also give a bad label as blind haters when it's really not the case. There are legitimate problems with the game.
There are points you made earlier about how Tameem "insulted" the fanbase because he didn't like how Dante looks. I asked you "how is that insulting the fanbase"? Followed by a how an opinion is not fact and thus, people shouldn't be offended by others peoples perspective on certain things/topics. He didn't target the fanbase BUT the character. That's just one of many points you missed.
I honestly don't see the point in talking to those who come to a conclusion based on not knowing the subject as indepth as another person. This goes for both. People pointlessly praising or hating.

I've never trolled anyone, but I've been trolled by some of the more vehement haters. Not on here, mind you. But he told me that if an opinion is wrong then he should have the right to belittle it and laugh at it so no one will follow it. Basically he was trying to turn everyone against me.

I guess what I'm trying to say is there are bad apples on both sides. Me, I just play the game and enjoy it for what it is. It's very hard to get me to say a game is bad.

Well at least you're not trying to sell MGR or Anarchy Reigns as an alternative like you're Kamiya's personal salesman. Thumbs up to you on that.

Isn't that a fallacy? Sorry, something I learned about in English. Politicians tend to use fallacies or it's often easy to find them using them. But everyone does as well.

Opinions are never facts and some people ignore that. They're never wrong nor right. They're fueled by personal beliefs and views; emotions. Then it leads to a war.

As for unifying the fanbase. It is possible to ease tensions, but you can't possibly please everyone. It just doesn't work. There's always doubt, legitimate reasons for truly hating the game, and ***es. Less tension, however, would be nice.

I don't care what you like, but I am welcome to listen to your reasons for liking or disliking something. And when it leads to pure stupidity, ignorance, or insults, the discussion ends there. It's completely unnecessary and unneeded.

And for difficulty in saying a game is bad. Try playing games with characters from cartoons and movies you liked in the past. I got tricked into buying those games as a kid. They sucked donkey balls. Their existence was only to sap money away from children and parents.

I'd like to think I don't get that bad, but some people get heated and that gets me miffed, so then things get bad.

lol You've a point. Though I will say: Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers for the SNES is still awesome.

Disney's PK: Out of the Shadows was the worst game I have ever played in my life. Donald Duck was my favorite Disney character as a kid. And Disney makes a game with him... Another was a Mario Party ripoff by Disney, that sucked as well.

Looney Toons: Back in Action was a fairly decent game. Not great and not terrible unlike Disney's take on games. Lego had one Bionicle game that was fairly decent as well. Marvel games and the recent Batman games are a totally different story. They are what games based on cartoons, comics, movies, should be. Good games, not milked, poor quality crap.

Still, screw games like the ones Disney put out. Epic Mickey although was said to be good, but the sequel suffered from co-op being the main focus of the game. No real life friend? Have an AI with the IQ of a sack of hammers. Cheers.

Yeah, most licensed games suck. I did manage to squeeze a little bit of fun out of the Monster House game at least.

And are you talking about Bionicle Heroes? I own that game, it's pretty fun.
