I look back at how "reliable" my PS2 was, and I didn't want to go through it again, my PS2 quite honestly crapped out on me in the first month I owned the damn thing

Mine seem to have 2 year syndrome for some reason. My Playstation died after 2 years so paid for another, then my PS2 died after 2 years so had to buy another. Then my second one had really bad disc read errors all the time so bought yet another (slimline this time). Then my 360 died after just over 2 years and got that repaired for free.

I personally voted for the 360.

I have no issues with the PS3 or the Wii, but the 360 grabbed me with the low price, decent selection of games and generally enjoyable online play, plus to mention the fact that my 360 has actually been pretty damn reliable as it stands.

The PS3 is by all means a great console, even though I followed Sony for years, I look back at how "reliable" my PS2 was, and I didn't want to go through it again, my PS2 quite honestly crapped out on me in the first month I owned the damn thing, sure, it was fun, and what with having experience with both the 360, and the PS3, I can safely say this isn't a biased opinion.

In summary, I find the 360 suits my needs as a gamer better than the PS3 does, well, that was nice, having a console based discussion that hasn't ended up in the toilet, nice one Esura, +rep to you my good man.

Thanks man. :)

My PS3 aint letting me delete this porn of my HDD tho. Im getting ****ed. I might hafta reform my HDD.

i have been put off by the ps3 after my bro's PS3 completely messed as he download a system update ( 2.40) and after playing 10mins of MGS4 it froze so he restarted the ps3 and it wouldn't accept the disc and wouldn't accept any other disc , dvd.......
so my vote foes for the 360 as i have mine and its amazing and still works

My PS2 messed up in like 4 years. Would of lasted longer if I took better care of it. Then I got the slim one and it works perfectly. Sitting right next to my PS3. The 360 is the only system I had that just randomly broke, lol.

Your brother was unlucky. Mines didnt mess up after that update, but like 15% of PS3 owners did have this prob. 2.41 rectified that prob tho.

And as for those w 360 lucky enough to NOT get RRODed, congrats (no sarcasm intended AT ALL)! If mines didnt get RRODed I would of probably still stuck with it as well with my PS3.

I love my ps3. ^.^

I like it because of Blue ray, It now has trophies, Is getting home!!! And is gonna have FF13 soon. =)
Oh... did I mention It has LBP!!!! =)

I used to love my wii, But then I got my ps3 so.... :P

But, I really can't compare it to 360 because I simply never owned one. But the 360 looks awesome from playing it at friends houses and such.

If I had a 360 I might like it better considering I only Play online, And the only offline play I do is for achievements/trophies. Although Home looks awesome, so maybe not.

My psn Is: ManlToe (Stupid friend set up my name..) :P

Well so far ive spent hundreds of pounds replacing my Playstations and Playstation 2's. So far spent nothing getting my 360 repaired so thats worked out the better deal for me. Some of my old Playstations work but takes them hours to read games as the lasers have gone. My slimline one works fine but gave that to my sisters ages ago as i havent touched it for years and it was taking up desk space and got tired of knocking it over with my mouse.

In the past 24 hours my 360 has frozen on me twice. The beginning of the end?

Probably not, did it happen on the same game or different?

I didnt even know there WAS problems with Playstation systems until last week when hella ppl was complaining bout it. My PS2 broke cause I didnt take gud care of it.

And you sir......has to be the most luck SOB I've ever met. I've never met not one person that didnt have some problems with 360. Well I hope you stay lucky. I dont wish RROD on anyone. Unless you have more than 1 system, waiting for your 360 to come back will seem like years

Yeah the lasers on the PS and PS2 were rubbish and nearly everyone i know had problems with them. Yet people want to jump all over the 360 with the RROD. Yeah its an unacceptable problem but the PS and PS2 didnt fix their **** laser errors so why jump all over Microsoft when they repaired the consoles for free. I had to pay for a new Playstation everytime and the lasers cost £15 to buy but Sony wouldnt let you replace them as they said you were pirating software (spent over £600 replacing them).

Different

Should be fine then as usually its the games fault not the 360. My GTA 4 used to crash all the time and that was a game fault not the console.

RROD was more widespread than PS-PS2's problem I believe. Like I said b4, I didnt even know that there were any problem with Sony systems until recently, and when I found out, ppl just replaced the laser (who cares bout pirating, I do it everytime for music). RROD happened so....randomly. And no 1 knew the source of the problem til late.

continued....

Most companies dont fix things that recieves little complaint.

My PS3 only allows u to type so much thats why I double posted.
I written the OP at school, thats why its long. I can only fit like so much letters in the keyboard screen on the PS3.

In terms of reliability with consoles I do own, I have never had a problem with my PS2 or my 360 thus far. Luck I guess?

No-one can deny the RROD has been a major thorn in the 360's side and such a fault should never have gotten past testing. However BOTH the PS and PS2 suffered from the same problem. Sony really should have used a more reliable laser after such widespread issues with them but they didnt. Shame really as i enjoyed those consoles and really wasnt happy that i had to fork out my hard earned cash for replacements. Whereas i paid nothing to have my 360 repaired and they even fixed my DVD drive for free which i broke by accident and gave me a brand new (quieter one).

^ The PlayStation had the laser problem, however, the percentage of It was way smaller than the RROD X360 has.

I never met someone that had any laser problems with the PlayStation, truly speaking. I know of the problems because I've heard people which had those kind of problems, but no console made me the most mad than the X360. A RROD, and damn...It's dead.

Every console has its defects, but comparing the PS/PS2 laser issue, with the X360's RROD is out of place.

Not really as it wasnt one console it was 2. The percentage of 360's that suffered from it is quite high but 2 generations of consoles really shouldnt have suffered from the EXACT same issue. Thats just not acceptable, would be like the next Microsoft console suffering from the RROD too. Xmas was a nightmare when i got new games for my PS/PS2 as it used to take hours and hours to read them. By the time the damn things read it was time to go out, ruined some childhood xmas days .Some issues are expected as its technology but for 2 generations of consoles to have the same issue cant just be brushed under the carpet as 'out of place'. Silly overlooked soldering job was the main cause of the RROD and it could easily have been fixed if the production line hadnt overlooked it. Microsoft paid in the end and had a knock to their reputation and cost them millions to repair them. Dont think they will overlook something like that again.
