The worst is when you have to face off with a fellow staff member - oh wow does that ever get messy. I've had online altercations with three staff members in the past and all of them were really ugly affairs - two that resolved peacably but one was horrendous. Thankfully Steve got involved with that one, ran rings around the person involved and their friend who tried to jump in, and they ended up having nothing more intelligent to say than "yeah, well, whatever" to everything he said....honestly, nobody should ever argue with Steve. They simply won't win - even if they think they have, he's already planned it out to appear that way and he's so sneaky it's unbelievable  And also infuriating when you're married to him and trying to have a good old fashioned domestic - he simply doesn't retaliate and you get worked up until you are spouting absolute nonsense whilst he remains perfectly calm and waits until you slip up before pointing out how ridiculous you're being...worst of it is, he's ALWAYS right
I think that's why he doesn't come on the boards much - he lurks, but rarely signs in - so he can get a grasp on the general atmosphere and prepare his inevitably successful campaign should it be needed. We tend to only call on him to intervene when we're all out of ideas - he is that damn good, it's frightening.
I've had a few people become rather cool towards me because of how I've dealt with something either they did or their friend did...it's a little frustrating in a way because I think "now what have I done?" when they get very formal and cold whereas before they were chatty and warm - I'm ridiculously sensitive, believe it or not, and the last time I had a run-in with someone on the boards (and I mean a proper one) I was in tears for days just because of the things they said to me. But you can't crack like that online - you just can't. So I have to sign off for a couple of days and mingle with the real world until the online one doesn't get to me as much...
