 I've had about 9 applications for mod status today - despite the fact that you won't get it that way and ultimately it's Steve's decision IF we decide on getting a new mod...and he's never on here so it'll be 100% objective (coz he never listens to me anyway - I'm actually talking to him right now and he's completely oblivious coz he's playing World at War. In fact, I could tell him I'm divorcing him and taking the credit card and all I'll get is "hmm...yeah" :lol
.
Besides, being a mod is nothing special - if anything it requires a lot of time and effort and if someone doesn't pull their weight, they have to go back to being regular again, which nearly always ends in tears. You can't take sides, can't argue, can't be mean (well, too mean
), can't break the rules, can't say what you really think - it's harder than people think. It's not wonderful wonderful power - it's more like damn hard work and deleting spam, dealing with every petty little thing that comes up such as "bawww! he called me gay!", and keeping things as much on topic as possible.
I hate Monday mornings for that very reason - guaranteed I will have a full inbox, twenty or more reported posts which didn't even need reporting, 60-odd spambots telling me to go dogging, PM's consisting of one sentence which when I take the time to reply I get "nvm" which winds me up something chronic and then the inevitable arguments in whichever thread happens to be flavour of the month for playground mentalities. The only board where this doesn't happen is my own forum which is dead anyway
