I wouldn't worry too much about moderator positions - there aren't any coming up any time soon and even if they were, we don't base our decisions on who is friends with who
Go to your user cp and select "edit buddy/ignore" under the settings section. Put in the name or names of the people you want to ignore and save. I know it works for PM's but not sure about VM's. If it doesn't, just ignore the posts - and report them if they are offensive/rule breaking. But if it's just petty bickering, ignore it and don't respond. That's your best bet.
You're going to need to avoid this other member now I think - you've both said some unpleasant things to each other and it really ought to stop. Place her on ignore if you cannot overlook what she says - that way you won't have to see it any more.
