So basically the work is emulating the fandom because the inmates are running the asylum.

The discourse for the past 10-20 years around Dante's character is every dumb*ss and a half taking great pains to remind us that the series isn't a series without him, he HAS to be in every installment, he's automatically better than every new character that will ever be introduced,

Don't know about the bolded part. It seems they'll be doing quite a bit of taking the wind out of his sails if that "trying to come up with a cool line" clip is any indication.

also DMC5 is Even Greater A Game because it has him in it even if he does look like an ugly hobo
Oh, well now you're just being mean  .

On a semi-serious note, how does Vergil keep himself looking so clean if he's the homeless one based on what we've seen?

There is no logic to it. Dante has been turned into a slob so he's got a dirty look. Vergil is the opposite so he's clean looking. More than that, the images of the characters from 3 have become the established parameters for the characters. Even notice that they haven't made any significant changes to Vergil since 3? The only difference between 5 and 3 is the color of the coat. It's the same coat but with black instead of blue. Even the thorn pattern is identical. The vest has a similar motif and only his pants and boots are of any significant difference. On top of that, his weapons and moves have not been changed in any significant manner. Yeah, they added more but the truth is Vergil in 5 is an expansion pack to 3.

it would've been cool if Conroy was voicing Arkham but oh well...I'm sure he gave a good performance regardless of who he played.

Conroy's not even the first DCAU actor to be involved in the DMC franchise. Arius was voiced by Sherman Howard who voiced Blight in Batman Beyond.

When you take into account Sparda's "Dark Knight" nickname and the third game having a villain named Arkham who can transform into a purple-clad clown, one wonders if someone at Arkham really loves Batman.

Apropos of nothing, after much unnecessary thought, I finally realized what Lady's power armour reminded me of. It looks like she's trying to cosplay as a member of the Knight Sabers from "Bubblegum Crisis".

So I presume that Rabbit Man is not Arkham then if he actually comes from the Demon World.
There is a scene in the trailer where the rabbit here kills all those dudes. Another in the opening animation where he's riding a bid demon with the FE. Theory right now is that he's Vergil. From what we've seen this is a complete rework of the narrative, nothing will go the same as the games.

It's real. Link here:

You think fans operate on logic? It doesn't matter if Dante is portrayed as lame, constantly in debt and harassed by women, or all of that. The game has him do shooty and slashy and hypes up his raw strength, and his cancerous tumor of a brother is similarly hyped, so the fans ignore his actual character and continue to want him in every subsequent game. Fanfictions depict him as a sex god. Fanart portrays him as handsome. Etc etc.

Oh, well now you're just being mean  .

But I'm not wrong.

As berto explained, no logic. Dante is a slob, so he looks homeless, his office is in disrepair, and he can't pay his bills, he's constantly in debt. Vergil's entire image is "the opposite of whatever Dante is" at any given time, and he presented the image of being refined and proper in 3, so he's refined and proper even when it defies actual congruency to the plot.

Seeing all this extra footage. It interests me how much of the first season will actually cover the events of DMC3 proper. There's apparently only eight episodes and so far it seems like this will just be the prologue, introducing Dante and Lady as characters and likely ending with Vergil/Arkham as a teaser for a season 2.

If so, then that will be a curious decision and I'm not sure how both newcomers and existing fans will react to that once the whole season is out.

I don't think the show will cover the game in any way one would call proper. It looks to be a completely unrelated entity with only the looks and characters with none of the events. We might get to finally see what the 3rd volume of 3's manga was about but that's about it.
