I don't V much. Only when required to progress. Anyway, what are the requirements for it?
For that "I envy your optimism" taunt, I think you need to be at least on S (or SS?) rank on the Stylish meter and do it while jumping.
Otherwise, you'll get that "come on!" microphone cane taunt.

Am i the only one who had more fun playing as vergil in dmc4 se?

I don't know what it is but i find him less fun to play as in 5 or 5se, and i quickly swap to dante

That's a left over element from DmC. The style meter being that forgiving and having a voice were amongst those.
I wasn't being specific.
I meant when playing as Vergil in DMC5.
Getting high Stylish ranks is easier with him.

The Stylish meter in this game feels more unforgiving.

You think so? I don’t play 4 anymore but the meter feels less demanding than 3’s.
5's style meter while less demanding than 3, it's harder to keep it raised or high with taunt exploits. In three, there are several taunt exploits you can do to keep the meter high. Albiet you couldn't just spam it either, but 5 is more strict in this regard. Though the game does reward you with bonus orbs at the end of the results screens for the amount of taunts you successfully pull off. So at least there is some compensation

I wonder if there's a full list of "DmC carry-overs".

I know that you can do more than one Roulette Spin in the air without needing to Enemy Step to "refresh" it.

Also, Snatch or Wire Snatch works the same way as Demon Pull, due to how doing it on the ground forces enemies to stand up, even if they were grabbed from a lying down position.

Then there's also the dynamic music that changes with the Style level and the Style announcer.

I'm sure there's a list somewhere. It's just a matter of googling.

I'm pretty sure that's how it worked in 4. I wish the grapple worked more like DmC. That's one of the few mechanics I will stand by.

Here you go.

Mythology Gag: The game references multiple other projects by Capcom and the production staff not set in the main Devil May Cry game continuity.
  • To DmC: Devil May Cry:
    • Nero's considerably shorter hair and reworked wardrobe evoke the appearance of the 2013 Ninja Theory version of Dante.
    • The game borrows several elements that came first in DmC including dialogues during gameplay and battles, enemies' introductions showing their names and subtitles, the player's style rank is announced by a Metal Scream as it climbs, a Training Dummy segment to try out moves, and Slow Motion on the final strike.
    • Dante's DLC color scheme gives him the black hair, dirty white shirt and black jacket with red accents of his alternate DmC self.
    • V's hair turning white when he summons Nightmare via his DT is also akin to how DT worked in DmC, where Dante's hair turns white whenever he uses it.
    • Devil Triggered Vergil summons a Doppelganger for the final phase of his boss fight, just like his DmC counterpart.
    • Immediately after the above, Dante taunts that the boss, even with a numbers advantage, will never beat him - "Not in a million years", directly quoting an infamous line from his DmC counterpart.
    • When Dante goes to the ruins of his own childhood home, he stands in front of a portrait of his family, with his father's face damaged, and acquires a new power related to his heritage, similar to the reboot.
    • One of the boss photos features V drinking from a can colored like a can of Virility.
    • Vergil can open portals by literally cutting through thin air, just like his DmC counterpart did after the final battle.

Not really.
Most enemies that can be Snatched will lie face down before you, giving you the advantage of attacking without any resistance until the enemy stands up.

This includes all the Scarecrow types, Assaults and Frosts.
Even if they have different body types, such as the bug-like appearances of the Mephisto and Faust or even the Gladius's sword form, they still kinda "lie" down before you after a standing Snatch.

On the other hand, enemies of DmC & DMC5 will stand up after being Pulled/Snatched, even if they were reeled in from a prone position.
This means enemies like Riot can hit you back while tanking your attacks or Scudo Angelos can resume blocking with their shields.
If you knocked down flying enemies like the Pyrobat or Baphomet, you'll have them go back to hovering after you Snatch them.

This also applies to Rawhide's "powered" Snatch, where even "heavy" enemies like the Proto Angelo can be pulled in.
But it seems like putting you in a disadvantage to have it stand up again right after you knocked it down, since it can resume blocking and countering you.

The safest way to Pull/Snatch an enemy in DmC & DMC5 is to do it while in mid-air.

Here you go.
Vergil in general gets a lot of stuff from DmC, from a gameplay perspective.
Even the move Rising Star was originally an Angel mode attack that was passed to Vergil as of DMC4:SE.

As mentioned, inclusion of Doppelganger surprised me the most.

I'll take your word for it. All my games are still in boxes and I have no intention of pulling them out just to verify. Though, when you describe it sounds right I can't help but think that if that's the case that was really not a good way to go in 4.

Empusa Queen always seem to do the double-overhead scythe slash when you're up close, making it somewhat predictable.
As Dante, I can just easily parry it with Revolver, attack it while it's stunned, parry, repeat and possibly add in some Quadruple S when my Style is at maximum.

Remember the good old days when Capcom insists on "this weapon is too heavy to be fired while in the air" for DMC1-3?

Now with Lady and Trish being able to fire rockets in mid-air in DMC4:SE, they finally let Dante do the same for DMC5.

If they actually remade the older games, will Dante be able to fire weapons like the Grenade Launcher or Spiral in mid-air?
