How to remake DMC2?

I wonder after DMC5, they can go to DMC2 and remake the entire story in order to change Dante to the one we all love in 3, 1 & 4.

Even fix Lucia.
I don't think Lucia needs much fixing. Most of the narrative problems come from Dante and how he was handled. Plus they never figured out what to do with him as a character post DMC1.

So I'd focus on him or just replace him with a different character like Trish/Nero/Vergil.

It's unclear if DMCV sets up DMC2 or is after 2 or deals with 2 at al so it be easier once we know more.

they remake resident evil 2, there's hope i guess for DMC 2?

i don't feel anything is wrong with dante's character, it was just the environment that made him bland, to me the environment felt so quiet and dead in a bad way, felt big but empty, that affects our perception to dante i guess..

as how to remake it, just have the same visual style with DMC 5, can't say no more bout characters and gameplay until DMC 5 is released, maybe we get something from the game to add up

RE2 is a successful and loved game. They know people are drooling over it. DMC2 is not. I doubt they'll bother with a remake. DMC1 and 3 have far better chances.

sugar coat it fox, don't break my heart.. but people'll drool on 2 remake if made with 5's quality and bringing back the best design of dante, yeah, this is just wishful thinking..

The issue is the lack of context given for the change. People were thrown off by it so addressing why he's different would go a long way.

Context means a reason for the change.

For example Prince of Persia Warrior Within takes place 7 years after prince of persia Sands of time. The prince is more cynical and worldweary because the Dahaka has been chasing him relentlessly.

The difference is Warrior Within gives a reason for the prince being different while DMC2 doesn't.

oh, yes, i acknowledged this.. since we're talking bout a remake i guess we'll have to wait for 5 wether they'll address this or not.. then there might be chance for remake

as for the original 2, yeah, i don't know how capcom worked back at the time, but i'm sure it's been addressed many times in the forum, probably the different team factor..

If Capcom were to remake DMC2 , they can improve Dantes character to be more in line with 1,3 and 4 for starters

as well as fix the combat to be like 3's

dunno how they would manage the setting as much of the fights take place in the city scapes but oh well

Yeah, and from what I can recall everyone kept saying it’s because ‘something bad happened like Trish dying’ that made Dante “that way”. Thing is, like you said, we’re not actually given any information regarding Dante’s change in personality.

I don’t want to see a remake of 2, myself. But since we know that 5 will be before or after 2 (probably before) I’m guessing they’ll show us what happens to make him that way. Who knows what it could be or if they even will bridge the gap, but here’s to hoping.

is trish really significant for dante that people came up with that theory? if the 'light' thing in 1 is an example, well okay then..

That’s the biggest reason people were assuming that there was such a drastic change. I say reason, it’s nothing but a long shot assumption.

1. Story/Character

The story needs to be revamped and the story of the game is very bland and extremely boring. But it has a decent foundation to expand it more, and set it up for the endings to have good or bad outcome depending on choices and actions of Dante and Lucia. My ideal story is a setting of a mass demonic invasion summoned by Arius. To decimate Dumary Island to obtain the Arcana artifacts from ancient ruins protected, and preserved by Vie De Marli Clan to become a powerful immortal entity to enslave humanity. (I would set up the invasion to more of a massacre to be as gruesome, and horrifying as possible to have the players to know what's really at stake if they fail.)

As the invasion sets on the island, Matier sent Lucia on a mission to destroy the artifacts to prevent Arius from using them. While the elder gathered the warriors of Vie De Marli to fight against the demons, and protect the people the best way they can. And I want to be able to play or at least see Dante's flashbacks to experience pain, tragedy, and horror that made him the man in the original DMC2 and why he's leaving things to fate by tossing a coin. I want Dante to be more empathetic and emotionally invested as a tragic hero that lost everything that he loves, and still has to fulfill his destiny as a protector just like his father before him.

Also they could set up to have a romance to strengthen character development of Dante and Lucia and experience love for the first time on DMC series. I think Capcom need to recruit writers from CDPR who wrote the Witcher series to revamp the story for DMC2.

That would be perfect!

Plus to explore on Bolverk too. He needs speaking parts.

Imagine him voicing from Scott McNeil.

Lover of beat'em ups!
  1. 3 new weapons that aren't just palette swaps of Rebellion.
  2. Lucia also gets a set of alternate weapons
  3. Keep the amulet system.
  4. Get rid of the underwater boss fight. You know the one.
  5. Alastor as a unlockable weapon after beating Normal.

ok, I think story need to reworked and especially dialogues. Bosses need more personality. I mean they set some really cool designs liek Nefasturris and Bolverk and didn't do anything with them which is really shame.
